About this property

2 bedroom, 1 bath home totally remodeled in 2021-22, sleeps 4 with queen in1st bedroom and 2 twin beds in 2nd bedroom. Central Heat & Air. Open kitchen and dining area that connects with TV room with a couple bar stools for plenty of room for taking it easy after great day of adventuring. TV room has a sofa and loveseat to recharge while planning your next hike and watching some TV. 50" TV in TV room, 32" TV's in bedrooms. Brand new bathroom has double sinks and tub/shower combo. Washer and Dryer. Deck w/picnic table & gas grill. Just out from deck is stone firepit for relaxing in the evening or anytime (Firewood provided).

The property is 150 feet long x 150 feet wide. No fence on property. There is additional parking space available for a Truck with Boat Trailer, Camper or RV.

Myrtle's Place is a short drive to all of the Best Outdoor Adventures that WV has to offer. It is right in the middle of the Gauley River National Recreation area and the New River National Park and Preserve Recreation area, just off historic Route 60 known as "The Midland Trail."

Perfect spot for New River Gorge National Park!

Super clean and very comfortable for our family of 4 (2 adults, two kids). Everything we needed for a home base while we explored the area. Conveniently located for easy access to the New River Gorge, Hawk Nest, Babcock and Fayetteville. Would definitely book again!

Best trip ever

We came to this property for my 30th birthday. It was the first birthday trip I’ve done in sobriety. This property was SO clean, it smelled great upon check in. The host was always available for my MANY questions throughout the trip, and even gave some recommendations for food. The beds are so comfy and the couches were great for lounging and watching movies. Very comfortable. We didn’t get to use the fire pit, but only because we were too tired at the end of the day to start one! The only “complaint” I had, was the last night. We had 20mph winds, and it made the wood walls creak, snap, pop, very very loud, al night long. I was unable to sleep at all, and that’s with the sound machines on. Obviously, 20mph winds won’t be happening every single day, so it’s just something to be wary of if you plan to travel during a storm. Otherwise, best trip ever. We had sober cocktails, watched movies, and played the switch when we weren’t out hiking or exploring.

Cute home, close to national park

We stayed here on a visit to New River Gorge NP with our small dog. The house is cute and had everything we needed. We were very comfortable. It is close to everything we needed. Loved the decor and it was very homey. The only negative would be we arrived in pouring rain and it was quite dark and muddy, could’ve used a little more outdoor lighting and maybe a clear walkway. But, that is not a deal breaker. We highly recommend a stay here!

West Virginia native coming for a visit with family!

This house was so cute & nice! Beautiful & newly renovated! I will definitely be coming back with friends & family again in the future! A few minor things I will mention are the lights above the twin beds didn’t work. I noticed they were push button lights so I’m sure the batteries may have been dead. But I would suggest a small lamp on the nightstand. Also maybe some hooks in the bathroom for towels since we had multiple people staying while we were there. And maybe a handheld shower head. My brother is almost 6 ft so he had to squat down to get completely under the water to shower. All of these are just suggestions. We didn’t have any problems & thoroughly enjoyed our stay so much!! Larry & Lane were extremely nice which helped so much! Thank you for such a lovely stay!!

Quick get away

Had a wonderful stay @ Myrtle's. Quick short get away for our Anniversary with our pup. Great place in a good location. Minutes from several point of interest in NR and surrounding areas. First place ive ever been to that was the exactly like the pictures. Wished we could've stayed longer but will definitely not hesitate to book again ❤️ Thank you The Smiths

Long weekend in WV

Simple home that was nicely renovated and well stocked for our long weekend stay. Convient location to many outdoor adventures in this area of the state. The home is on a busy road where you can hear cars and trucks pass at all hours but we knew this prior to arrival and it wasnt a deal breaker for us. Rooms had sound machine to help combat this. Thank you!

WV vacation

We enjoyed the house because it was close to many attractions. Enjoyed that we could sit at the bar and watch tv . And having a washer and dryer was helpful so I wouldn’t have to bring dirty clothes home. The bedrooms could use room darkening blinds. The kitchen mats slid when walked on . The bathroom toilet wasn’t secure to the floor it was loose And there was a lot of road noise all times of day and night .

Perfect place to stay when exploring New River Gorge area

We loved our stay at this property! It was extremely clean! Many places we’ve stayed before do not do a thorough job cleaning but this place was spotless. The owners did an awesome job remodeling it and it was decorated so well and had new appliances. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, it was nice having a full size washer/dryer. Beds were comfy. Loved drinking my coffee on the covered porch. Very peaceful setting on large lot, no neighbors on one side and behind the property and to the right was a neighbor but they were all so quiet. The complaint I read other people say was the road noise since it’s on a busy road but the owners provided sound machines in each bedroom. We brought our own fans as well and the noise did not bother us at all when sleeping. The location is great because it’s so close to many activities like rafting, hiking, the National Park and Fayetteville. Hope to come back again and stay at this beautiful cabin!

WV getaway

House was quaint and beautiful. Street location has a high volume of traffic which makes it noisy. But house was clean and well cared for. Would have appreciated some extra amenities like board games, books, and other stuff to do during rain/storms. Would have loved a coffee maker as well. Not much into the K Cups. Maybe having both?

Larry and Theresa are the best hosts possible. The house is immaculate. We had a great stay, very close to the hiking trails in the area so if your in the area and need a place to stay I highly recommend, plus they gave us some new trails to hike. THANKS!!!

Great place to stay!

Very clean. Located close to many attractions in the area. Only draw back would be traffic noise on the highway in front of the property. But we would still stay here again. After 5 in the afternoon it’s not as busy.

Charming!

This small country cabin has everything you could want, from a cheese grater to a fire pit! Neat and clean, we felt comfortable from the time we entered the front door! Plenty of space for four people and nicely arranged. The hosts were really available by text and we enjoyed our stay. Restaurants and stores were easy to find. We attended Bridge Day and the property was conveniently close to the bridge. The four star comes from being so close to the highway. We live in the middle of ten acres and are not accustomed to road noise. We woke up a lot. The second night we used a sound machine and it was a big improvement!

Clean house with cable/Wi-Fi/washer/dryer/outdoor grill/fire pit/in a convenient location. Only negative is it’s on a busy road, but it’s priced accordingly. Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

This accomodation was perfect for my grpup of 4 climbers. Everything is updated and the place was perfectly clean when we arrived. We especially appreciated the laundry access, the plentiful bath towels, and the comfortable mattresses. The place is climate controlled which was aslo great. If we had more time we wpuld have loved to make use of the fire pit and its awesome that the wood is provided. Overall it exceeded our expectations and was an excellent stay! Note: bring salt, pepper, cooking oil as these were not provided. There is a keurig for coffee but not quite enough pods for 4 people/day. Good thing we are tea drinkers!

We grew up in Ansted, WV. Attended Ansted Elementary, Ansted Middle and graduated from Ansted High School. Lane lives in New Bern, NC where he retired from the USMC and Larry is retired from Wal-Mart and lives in Victor, WV.

Why they chose this property

This house was built for our Great Grand Mother Myrtle Ruffner Massey in 1932 and has been in the family ever since. In 2021 we decided to remodel the house and provide a place for people to call home while visiting the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve or just passing thru on the Midland Trail.
