Peaceful and private, recently updated cottage nestled on over 2 acres of land in Aquinnah. The house is bright and airy with all the amenities you need to feel at home on the Vineyard.
Sleeping arrangements include a queen bed in the large second floor bedroom, and a comfortable full size sofabed in the sunroom. Amenities include a dishwasher, washer/dryer, and Internet, and linens are provided. Step outside to a spacious lawn surrounded by woods, a wraparound porch, patio with grill, an outdoor shower, and the sound of the waves crashing against the Aquinnah cliffs.
Short drive or bike to Philbin Beach, Aquinnah Public Beach, and Lobsterville Beach, as well as the Aquinnah Lighthouse and some charming nearby dining options. Perfect for a couple or small family.
The second floor bedroom is accessed by a steep stairway and does not have a door, though there is a door between the sunroom and the kitchen/main house. Laundry is in the basement, which is accessed through a heavy, somewhat cumbersome, hatch door in the kitchen floor, as well as a steep stairway down.
The property is down a 0.5 mile, hilly, narrow, dirt and gravel road. We've never needed to turn on the 4WD on our car, but if you have the choice, a sturdier car might make the driving more comfortable.
The house and Aquinnah in general are rather remote and rural. It is a 30-45 min drive to Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, and Oak Bluffs, and about 30 min to the nearest full service grocery store. We think this is part of its up-island charm, but of course may not be ideal if you are looking to be closer to the action.
