Southern Serenity - Secluded Waterfront home on a quiet and peaceful cove.

Looking for the perfect lake vacation? Yet hate the crowds?
Southern Serenity is located 2.5 miles down a dirt/gravel road that can be a bit rough. We are nestled inside the Bankhead National Forrest on 110ft of cleared shoreline on a secluded cove of Smith Lake. We are on seasonal water, which means from the months of mid September through early March, the water level in our cove drops down to a mud bottom. Mid March, the spring rain and the dam starts filling. If you want to take a boat/kayaks out during this time, you will have to drive about 15 minutes down the road to the public landing to launch. Though March through September, we are at full pool, and our cove is anywhere from 7' to 11' deep! Yes the fishing is great in the cove. We also provide a Jon boat with paddles and life vests. We also provide two jackson kayaks with paddles and life vests as well. There is WIFI. **Also, FYI, Google GPS isn't very accurate but is pretty close. You will also want to try to arrive before dark. The house is very secluded, and there are no streetlights, but we do have a sign saying Southern Serenity with lights on it to help find the way.** **Also we provide a complimentary pack containing 1 laundry pod, 1 Dishwasher pod or dishwashing liquid bottle, 1 dryer sheet.** We also provide 1 roll of paper towels and 4 rolls of toilet paper, 2 in each bathroom.** So please plan accordingly.

We loved staying here! Everything was clean and as described. Be prepared for the rough road but they tell you that ahead of time. Owners were very easy to communicate with. I got to experience kayaking with my oldest daughter for the first time so it’s a memory I will treasure!

We have stayed at the lake for many years. This location was perfect. It was hidden back away from all the busy water traffic but just minutes away from gas, food and everyone we hang out with. If we were to buy a place it would be just like this one. No big stairs to or from the water. It provided everything we needed. Just don’t forget to grab some wood for the fire pit but if you do.. Gateway Foodland is not far away! Check in and out was super easy. Definitely a place we will stay at again.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the property. It was clean and very comfortable. The hosts provided many amenities in this peaceful place. They provided kitchenware, WIFI, games, movies, streaming service, kayaks, etc. There were also many beautiful places to hike & explore near the area that led to gorgeous waterfall views. It does warrant mentioning that if you plan to make use of the washer and dryer during your stay, you need to bring your own detergent. They provide one laundry pod, however you are expected to wash the towels with it before your departure. Overall, this was a nice place to spend the last stretch of our Spring Break travels. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay at Southern Serenity! The kids loved the dock and my husband loved the grill. Great back porch. Decorated perfectly with big comfy beds. All the kitchen supplies you could ever need. Probably the best stocked place I have ever stayed. Only drawback was gravel road to get there was a bit bumpy but thats common in this area. Very good communication with the owner and the location was ideal for visiting Bankhead Forest. 15 minutes to local grocery store and dollar general.

Very relaxed environment. It is a quiet place that my two sons and I loved sitting out back on the deck, BBQ, and thinking about going fishing but we decided to stay on the deck cause it was so lovely. The owners are great too.

Bring your food, clothes, toiletries, and STAY! Everything else you need is there! Pots, pans, silverware, bed linens, towels, games, fishing rods with lures, grill, firepit, extensive dvd collection, kayaks, john boat, life jackets, floats, etc...Couldn't ask for a more gracious and helpful owner or seemless process. Matthew checked with me more than once to make sure we had everything we needed. The property was just as it was described on VRBO. We spent a whole week here and never had an issue. We relaxed, played a ton of games, fished A LOT (successfully I might add), cooked good food on the BLACKSTONE, hiked in Bankhead, kayaked, and thoroughly had a great time! You won't regret renting this place!

IDEAL GETAWAY
My family & I had a great time at this rental on the lake. It was emaculate & was supplied with everything needed. Everyone loved the kayaks, the lily pad, swimming, grilling on the deck, roasting hotdogs & marshmallows at the fire pit, & relaxing by the water. The host always responded quickly to messages & made the process run smoothly. Would definitely recommend this rental.

I am now a Realtor as well. We found and bought this property because we fell in love with the location and the views. It is so very secluded and beautiful. A true GET AWAY experience! We hope you take a look and then find out for yourselves!

Why they chose this property

Our home is nestled on one acre of land with 110' of cleared waterfront. It sits inside the beautiful Bankhead National Forest directly on Lewis Smith Lake. We are located down a 2.5mile gravel/dirt road. Privacy and seclusion is #1!

What makes this property unique

Rural, private, secluded, serene and beautiful! These are just a few words that describe Southern Serenity. You are directly on the water and have a private 110' shoreline with a 12' x 12' floating swim pier for your pleasure. We do not have a boat launch at this time, but there is a boat launch directly across the cove (2min drive.) Where you can launch and then drive across the cove to tie off to our swim pier. There is also a public launch at Lakeshore Marina (15min drive) You will also be inside the Bankhead National Forest so there are many hiking trails and beautiful waterfalls to visit and play in. **Please be mindful that you are in the south and poisonous snakes like Rattlesnakes, Cotton Mouths/Water Moccasins, Copperheads are around. Also there are coyotes, wild pigs/boar and have had sightings of Mountain lions and Black Bears in the neighboring counties. So be prepared! We have on sight a fully stocked first aid kit along with snake bite kits. As always call 911 for an emergency!
