About this property

Quiet, kid friendly neighborhood. A cantilever deck overlooks the river which is about 30 steps away. You can fish off of our private dock or tie your boat up to it. Bring your kayaks or canoes and put them in right in front of the house! Beautiful fire pit with seating for 6, overlooking the river and scenic mountains.

All bedrooms have a 24” smart TV and WiFi. You can log on to your own personal streaming accounts. The Livingroom has a 55" smart TV and cable.

The house is a 30 minute scenic drive along the historic Midland Trail to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve (the country’s newest national park) You’ll pass a couple of waterfalls along the way. Fayetteville, voted “coolest small town”, is right along the route to New River Gorge and has many locally owned restaurants and breweries. You can also rent bikes and ride or hike numerous trails in the area. There is whitewater rafting, repelling, ziplining, horseback riding and so much more that you can take advantage of, in the NRG area. In the fall, the changing trees are gorgeous and the New River Gorge Bridge is host to an annual Bridge Day event.

Charleston, the state’s capital, is about 40 minutes drive west. Plan a day and visit the gorgeous state capitol followed by a meal at one of many locally owned restaurants.

Summerville Lake is roughly 36 miles from the cottage and offers a nice beach and lots of water activities. You can rent a pontoon boat, kayak or paddle board and make a day of it!

In the winter, you can drive a little over an hour to Winterplace Ski Resort and ski or snow tube.

Great home base for NRG NP

Our family of 4 had a great stay at the Rose River Cottage! It served as an excellent home base for adventures in the area. We hiked at NRG NP, white water rafted (West Virginia Adventures) and Cliff jumped at Summersville Lake (pirates cove for the rocks). Beautiful mornings and sunsets on the river. House is well stocked, and hosts were unbelievably quick with responses.

Quaint Peaceful Place

My husband and I stayed fall of 2023. We were too early for fall foliage, but the landscape was still beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing evenings on the deck - hiking, near by shops, beautiful drives, national park proximity - just an overall wonderful experience. Would highly recommend

Great place 30 mins from the gorge. 10 mins from Cathedral falls. It has gas burners, which was helpful because the power went out on our last night! So we were still able to make dinner!

What a charming gem on the riverfront

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the River Rose cottage, the only negative was we wish we could have stayed longer! Upon arrival, there were numerous thoughtful snacks that the kids were so excited about, especially after a bit of a longer drive. The house is quite charming, and we had absolutely everything we could have needed and more. It’s obvious a lot of thought and love was put into this home to make it a wonderful place to stay. The location on the river is just gorgeous and so peaceful, and having the fenced in yard gave us peace of mind that the kids were safe while playing in the yard. Having never been to the area, we were unsure what to expect and were definitely wishing we had more time to enjoy just being on the river, and to explore the area more. Needless to say, we definitely hope to return and would absolutely stay here again.

We'll be back!

Everything about our time at the cottage in Boomer was lovely--the cottage itself, the fenced-in yard, the river view--but what set this experience apart were the very special people we encountered, starting with our hosts Beth and Louie and including helpful, kind neighbors and passers-by we encountered. I cannot say how grateful we are to all the Boomer residents who rushed to help us when we needed it. We'll definitely be back! I feel as though I've found my second home!

Lovely Rose Cottage on the River

This spot is amazing. The view and set up is perfect. The neighorhood and neighbors were so nice! The house is STOCKED. Fenced in yard for the dogs. They had the best time! Host truly cares for this house. One of the best vacations i have been on. West Virginia is beautiful!!!!

This home has it all, and I do mean everything! clean house, lots of towels and wash cloths, even has a complete stocked coffee bar. I could go on, but I think just saying we will return is enough. Oh and i should say it was very quiet getaway.

great place for a boater

We had an exception time and enjoyed our stay. Brought our boat and traveled via the Kanawha River 30 miles to Charlestown as a day trip. Also enjoyed skiing every morning on morning glass. Great view of the river and area attractions.

Beautiful View / Welcoming Home

When we first arrived at the property, we noticed the view. The view from the deck was spectacular. Inside the home, the owner had little treats and all the fixings for smore's which was so nice. House was spotless and was very comfortable. While visiting, my husband and I were able to tour waterfalls, hike, and had a 25 minute ride to some nice restaurants. Grocery store was within five minutes. Owner made sure she was available for any questions. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a relaxing stay with a wonderful view.

Restful week at Rose Cottage

My husband and I and our grown son had a lovely week at the Rose Cottage. We enjoyed quiet times sitting on the porch enjoying the view and explot points of interest in all directions. Reaching interesting attractions requires some driving but is worth the time. We were unanimous in our enjoyment. Grateful for all the treats and supplies provided and the attention to details by the owners.

Wonderful, quiet get away

This property is wonderful. Beautiful outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy. The inside was spotless and very welcoming. Lots of amenities. It was only a 30 minute drive to Charleston. We enjoyed our time here.

Great getaway

Beth is awesome!! This property is a great out-of-the-way jumping off point for New River Gorge and state parks in the area. Great fishing dock down by the water too.

Wonderful and cozy

We had a great stay at the Rose River Rental. It is a wonderful cozy home with amazing views. The accommodations are top notch with lots of thought and extras added to make your trip extra memorable. The s’mores and record player were the highlights of our kids stay. The town is a tiny old miners town and the people were very friendly when we went for a walk.

Cottage on the river

This was an absolutely perfect place to relax and unwind. We fell in love with this cottage. It is in a very quiet older neighborhood but once you are on the property you hardly notice anyone around you. The outside patio on the riverfront was so fun. Used the grill. it was fun watching the river and the mountains were gorgeous with fall foliage The covered porch with the oversized swing was "the Bomb" The swing and the pillows, and the blankets---perfect for a cool rainy night to still be outside but completely comfortable. The interior of the home was great as well. very comfortable. The furniture in the living room was comfortable. Everything was here that we needed! And finally, the owner was so kind and very responsive to any questions leading up to the day we checked in. I would recommend this property to everyone! But don't tell too many people ---- it is a nice secret to keep!

River beauty

Gorgeous property on the river. The quiet means not too many food options close by. Grab some food on your way in and eat on the deck. Or go to the grocery store and grill out. The property looks exactly like the pictures. Beth was very helpful. Highly recommend this place.

Tranquil Cottage in Beautiful Setting

I selected this property because of the online photographs. Sometimes photographs can be deceiving, but in this case, the actual property matched the photographs to a tee. As a frequent traveler, and one who has stayed in properties ranging from five star resorts to small studio vacation rental properties, I must say that this was one of my favorites. The owners have done a great job at remodeling a home that obviously was built some time ago. It was impeccably clean and well appointed beyond the usual vacation rental - with plenty of clean towels, sheets, dishes, etc. To make things even better, the owner provides plenty of snacks and toiletries should travelers forget something. I found a few nearby places for groceries and fast food and the neighbors were friendly - all waved and smiled - and I felt they had great pride in their little community and kept an eye out on things. However, my favorite part of the property was the spectacular view of the hills/mountains that serve as a dramatic and beautiful backdrop to the gently flowing Kanawha River. I loved waking up in the morning to see the mist covering the hilltops. I loved sitting on the deck in the evening listening to the buzz of the night insects and the quacks and honks of the geese on the river. My blood pressure definitely dropped during my stay. I will definitely come back to this tranquil property. I thank the owners for providing such a beautiful and peaceful getaway. Thank you for the care, love, and consideration you obviously have put into this project.

Home away from home

Can’t say enough great things about Beth and her house. Truly a home away from home. They have thought of everything you would need and even wonderful surprises like the snacks awaiting for you on the table (I won’t spoil some of the other little things 😊). If there’s anything that you do need or have a question she’s quick to reply to you. I honestly felt like a kid myself staying at one my relatives home on vacation it’s that personal here. Quite neighbors as well. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing time away.

Why they chose this property

Rose River Cottage was my late mother's primary residence. She loved to sit on the porch and admire the beautiful river and majestic mountains. I couldn't bare to sell it after she passed in 2020, so I am sharing it with friends like you! We keep a weekend open every month to gather as a family and enjoy the space. I think you will feel the sense of family when you visit. We hope to host you soon!

What makes this property unique

We are uniquely situated right between the state's capitol and the country's newest National Park. Not only that, but we are directly on the Kanawha River. The house is in a tight knit, sleepy residential area, but it faces the river so you feel more secluded than you actually are.
