About this property

CAPER CABIN at Black Rock Mountain Clayton, GA- A Hiker's Haven

C A P E R:
Kāpər(v) to skip or dance about in a lively or playful way.

This is the exact notion that we hope you achieve while staying at the Caper Cabin. We invite you to live the #caperlife in this picturesque setting on Black Rock Mountain in Clayton, GA.

The 1200 Sq. Ft. 3 bed/2bath cabin sits at 2700 feet within a valley of Black Rock Mountain where there is always a breeze and the temperature drops at least 7 degrees as you make your way up from downtown Clayton.

The space
The 1940 Appalachian cabin was purchased from the original family and renovated in March of 2021.

The cabin now boasts a vaulted ceiling in the comfortable, cozy living area that is open to the newly equipped kitchen complete with brand new appliances, including an ice maker. An additional full bathroom and laundry room were added as well as a queen over queen bunk room.

The modern cabin design incorporates 12" pine walls to keep with the original look and feel of the cabin, while maintaining clean lines and a fresh look to the space.

The space has plenty of room to comfortably sleep 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 kids with two king beds and a queen over queen bunk room. Breathable 100% cotton sheets along with memory foam mattresses on all beds are sure to allow for the dreamiest of slumbers.

Several reading areas were thoughtfully placed to ensure that cozy cabin feel, including the front porch swinging day bed and master sitting area.

The main attraction of this idyllic space is the outdoor area that takes full advantage of the amazing mountain setting within Black Rock State Park. The back yard is equipped with an extra large hot tub, outdoor shower, fire pit, dart board and grilling area (with pass through window to kitchen) all with incredible mountain views.

The incredible location within the state park allows for hikers to access the James E. Edmonds trail from the cabin’s front door. This is the main trail of the state park and connects to the entire 11+ mile trail system of the park.

Whether you are looking for some R&R or planning on an active, adventurous trip to the mountains of North Georgia...this must be the place!

Guest access

Other things to note
HOT TUB:
The hot tub is available for your use at YOUR OWN RISK and provided as a an added perk for our guests. Please know that we do our VERY best to maintain a clean hot tub, but we CANNOT guarantee so due to the sensitive nature of the water levels. The condition of the hot tub can change from guest to guest depending on use. Please help us maintain a clean hot tub by using the outdoor shower before entering and ensure that the floating chlorine stays in the water. Please keep the hot tub at 90 degrees when not in use. The hot tub must remain covered when not in use.

PET POLICY:
We LOVE pets and invite you to enjoy this space with your beloved companion(s); however, in order to ensure the longevity of the cabin for years to come, there are a few rules:
Pets are allowed with a maximum of 2. Please indicate when booking that you plan to have pets. A fee of $100 will be added to the reservation. Please ensure that the pets are with you while you are away from the cabin or crated if staying at the cabin while you are away. Failure to disclose pets on the property will result in a $200 fee. A security deposit will be collected should there be any damage to the cabin during your stay!

WATER SOURCE:
The cabin water supply is Spring fed. A UV light filtration system was installed to ensure the cleanest, freshest mountain water.

CEILINGS:
The ceilings in the home (with the exception of the vaulted living room) are original to the home and measure under 7'. While we believe this provides a cozy, cabin experience, we think it is important to note for our taller guests.

INDOOR FIREPLACE:
The indoor fireplace uses clean-burning bio-ethanol fuel. While it still provides heat, it does not give off any smoke or fumes. As a courtesy, we will provide 1 bottle of fuel (4-6 hr. burning time). Please ensure that the fire is out when unattended by using the metal tool provided to close off the flame. Please let us know if you would like for us to order you more fuel in advance of your trip.

OUTDOOR FIREPLACE:
We welcome you to use the outdoor fire pit area for a wood fire. While we cannot guarantee that there will be stocked firewood, there is usually some firewood left from other guests. If so, it is on the grilling deck and you are welcome to it. Should you have any left over, please consider leaving it for future guests. If you need more, the Black Rock State Park campground store, a mile up the mountain, sells it for $5 per bundle. Please never leave your fire unattended and be sure the fire is out before retiring for the night. There is a hose located at the spicket next to the fire pit.

Wonderful Property!

We had such an amazing time over the 4th of July weekend! The property is centrally located and a short drive to amazing attractions and hikes. Our first time visiting Black Rock Mountain Sate Park, the views from the visitors center were breathtaking, we did the summit hike, my girls even saw their very first bear! Property was clean, quiet, outdoor area was fantastic, and there were games/tv for those afternoon summer thunderstorms.

Quick getaway to the mountains

Perfect mountain retreat up in the rainforest. I loved being able to enjoy being so far up in the mountains, yet the town of Clayton is a quick 5-10 drive down the mountain. In Clayton I found an all day breakfast place called The Sunday Diner. Again, all day breakfast which was perfect for me. The sourdough pancakes are both delicious and massive. The scenery around the cabin is amazing. Great to watch sunsets, sunrises, and even the moon when the sky is clear. When it got too chilly and I didn't feel like building a bonfire, the TV was a welcome comfort. WiFi was plenty fast. Everything was extremely clean and well thought out. Overall, I'll definitely be back, especially since it's a quick, 1 hour and 45 minute drive back home to the suburbs.
