Situated in the community of Cleone, 2 miles north of the Fort Bragg city limits, in a country type setting, close to one of the best beaches and coastal accesses, the North Coast Retreat is the perfect get-away. The house is well appointed for families; friends and remote workers, as well as those who want to enjoy life, appreciating the beauty of nature and the coastal spirit. Just a short walk to the beach, where beautiful ocean views and sunsets are abundant. Bright skies, galaxies of stars, and the calming sound of the ocean are prevalent at this one acre property. Deer, birds and other wild life are thriving on the property for viewing enjoyment. Located close to MacKerricher State Park and the Haul Road paved trail, which provides a bike/walk path that takes you to Glass Beach, as well as the many galleries, shops, restaurants, and other attractions in the downtown area of Fort Bragg. Excellent all around

This property, just north of the center of Fort Bragg, is perfect for 4-6 people. It's nicely and comfortably furnished and supplied with several areas to enjoy. We had meals in the fenced back yard, inside the house and also in the lovely sun room. Each morning we began with the short walk to the ocean where an easy path followed the coast. You are close to Big River kayaking, tide pooling just south and plenty of opportunities for hiking among the Redwoods. Our hosts Howard and Kelly kept in touch and all went smoothly. We would certainly recommend their place for a great experience.

Great home!

Very comfortable and well appointed home. Lots of room to relax and a beautiful solarium. The location is amazing just a few minutes from the beach and an amazing bike trail. We had such a fantastic time ! Will definitely rent this house again!

Location location location!

It was so close to everything we wanted to do. The house was beautiful and had plenty for my teens to do. Plenty of towels, beds were comfy. Living room was super cozy. Was the perfect relaxing getaway. Only thing that wasn’t perfect (and out of anyone’s control) was that walls are thin and you can hear everything going on anywhere in the house. But we sent the teens to the game room or sun room and all was well noise level wise. Great experience!

Lovely stay in Fort Bragg

Fun in Fort Bragg

My mom and I (and our two fur babies) stayed here for a girl’s getaway weekend and had a great time! The location to the beach couldn’t be better and the house had beach chairs, bikes and tons of games! Kelly and Howard were great at responding to emails and texts and were wonderful to work with. The fenced backyard was an added bonus! We’ll be going back for sure!

Fantastic family place.

Wonderful home with easy walk to beach!

We were fortunate to stay at North Coast Retreat for a whole month and everything we needed was right there. The home was very clean and spacious enough for our six family members. We ate breakfast every morning in the sunroom and often saw deer grazing. We walked to the beach (less than 10 min) every evening to watch the sunset. We made fires in the fire pit to roast hot dogs and make s' mores. We slept well each night in very comfortable beds. It was indeed a retreat from the cares of the world for us all!

Perfect location and wonderful hosts.

This property is a perfect spot to get away and enjoy the sounds of the ocean. Just a short walk to the coast. In the morning we spotted several deer grazing the back yard and in the afternoons and in the evenings we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and butterflies in the back garden area. Plenty of seating and room for entertaining family for conversations. The hosts were very attentive and accommodating to our group. I would rate this property higher than a 5 if I could and would recommend to any group, family or couple for a quite getaway. When we return to this area in future we will definitely be looking to book again.

A great choice for our vacation

Beautiful home and garden right near fort Bragg. Walkable to the beach and easy drive to many parks and trails. We had a great stay, working with Kelly and Howard was seamless and they were great hosts. Looking forward to visiting again.

This property is a well appointed renovation. The kitchen doesn’t get any better! Extremely well equipped with sharp knives, a new sponge, and all the utensils you would ever need. Plus there were plenty of books and toys to keep the grandkids thoroughly occupied. Our dog enjoyed the fenced back yard. The property was a pleasure.

Great Experience

This property is just as described. Beautiful house with everything a visitor would need. A short five minute walk to the coast; a short five minute drive to the town. The sunroom is a wonderful spot to hang out. We all loved our stay.

Surprised and Very Pleased

We have not been to Ft. Bragg before and were really pleased with the property and its location. Owners were super responsive/helpful. A few more items in the cupboards, like olive oil and other essentials for cooking would have been great, but this didn't take away from our experience. Beach was amanzing!

Everything we needed ... and the ocean!

We had a family reunion on the North Coast and it was fabulous. The home is loaded with everything we needed to cook feasts, celebrate birthdays, watch birds, talk to the ravens, see fawns nursing, walk .3 mile to watch sunsets, delight in wildflowers, hike, walk to the harbor seal rookery...and when we texted Kelly a question, she responded right away! Beds were perfect and towels were plush. Lots of blankets for the cool nights! The family was impressed!

Rest and Fun

We took the residents of my care home on a short vaca to Ft. Bragg and stayed at this lovely home. It fit all their needs. The home is comfortable and in a great neighborhood and location, near everything. My only problem was there was an ant issue in the sunroom area which limited the use out there on the rainy day. I know this can be remedied quickly, this home is definitely a keeper to retention again in the future for us. Thank you for accommodating us.

Great Location

Perfect house in a great location with lots of privacy. Home was well stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed the sunroom and walking to the beach each day. We got to meet the owners of the home and they are very nice. We will definitely be back to rent this property again.

Howard and Kelly bought the North Coast Retreat several years ago and have been busy updating and enhancing the property. They live in the Bay Area and plan to use the property as a family vacation spot and private retreat upon retirement. The property and area provide them soul replenishment from busy lifestyles and work schedules. During hot summer days, the ocean breeze is refreshing/cooling and the clean air is beneficial during the bad air quality days now common in California during wild fire season.

Why they chose this property

The location is premium! Ward Avenue wraps along the ocean front with direct beach access in several areas. Many homes in the neighborhood are vacation rentals or family owned retreats. When there is fog in the downtown area of Fort Bragg or nearby Mendocino, the blue skies of this neighborhood are appreciated. The property is located outside of the city limits, with a rural type setting. The property has a detached cottage, which is sometimes rented. An RV site at rear of then property is for occasional use by owners; it has previously been rented on VRBO.

What makes this property unique

The home has a sun room that can be used as a game room with board games, dart board with darts, ping pong table with paddles and balls, ladder ball set, croquette, bocce ball, corn hole game, and beach toys provided for use. The property has a park like backyard that has deer, many varieties of birds, and other wildlife to watch daily. The home has a private gated back yard as well, with a deck, patio furniture, and a BBQ.
