About this property

Waterfront-5 Steps to Private Beach-1+ BR-Pets OK-Kayaks-SUPs-Best Sharkteeth

Newly renovated, upscale, light and bright suite (exclusive private 1st floor of a residential home with private entrance). Perfect for 1 or 2 couples, or a family of 4-6, and elderly travelers since no stairs are required to access the property (only 5 stairs to access the beach). Private and Secluded 1+BR Waterfront Suite. Fully equipped Kitchen with BBQ Grill, with Private Access to your Suite and Private Gulf Ocean Beach 5 Steps from Your Front Door (literally). This property is in the last remaining "Old Florida" region of the Gulf Coast of Florida, with subtropical rainforest flora and fauna surrounding the property, the largest Banyan Tree in the state of Florida (called a "champion tree" by the Florida Forest Service), a hammock just waiting for you on the beach, or chairs outside your suite for watching sunsets. Kayaks, SUPs, shark hunting gear, beach chairs/umbrellas, and boogie boards on property for free guest use. Bikes easily rented and delivered to your door, Uber Eats, Publix Grocery Store, Walmart, or Instacarte deliver right to your door, and live music and 3 restaurants await you only a 10-15 minute drive (or a bike ride) down the beach road. Community Tennis Courts (including lighted courts at night) and Golf Courses available within a 15 minute drive. Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport is only a 50 minute drive, easily accessed via Uber, Lyft, or a personal driver than can be arranged for you. Fort Myers Airport 80 minutes, and Tampa 90 minutes.

3 shared Kayaks and 2 Stand Up Paddle Boards are provided for guest use. These are shared with the 4 bedroom rental guest cottage across the street. Beach chairs, umbrellas, a hammock, and a gas grill make this a place easy to quickly settle into upon arrival.

Note for guests who like to do a lot of cooking for extended stays: The kitchen in this unit is equipped with a single gas burner for boiling or steaming, an electric skillet, a rice/vegetable steamer, and a medium sized toaster oven. These cover all functions of a full stove, but there is not a traditional stove in the kitchen area for conservation of space, while taking into account that most guests tend to eat out a lot.

Great apartment on the beach!
We only stayed for a couple of nights, but loved the apartment and location. Clean, newly renovated post hurricanes (fall 2024), we had everything we needed. Even though this apartment is on the lower level of a larger house where the owner resides, it is very private, easy entrance. Evan was amazing, super responsive host! Good luck with renovations and the recovery efforts on Manasota Key!!

Right on the ocean!
We went for a little weekend getaway. It was just what we needed. Small, quaint little place literally on the ocean! The beach is so quiet and peaceful and more shells than you can ever imagine!!! We would definitely go back!

Doesn't get better than steps from the beach!
An amazing oasis on the beach. The vrbo has everything you need to sleep and rest up, but this is really about the proximity to the beach, the surrounding lush greenery, and beach amenities (hammock, beach chairs, umbrella, kayaks, the 1000+ year old banyan tree, proximity to englewood dinning on the beach, dolphins swimming by at 9am every morning). Evan is very communicative and a great host. Just be sure to read all fo the descriptions so you are not surprised by anything (not a full kitchen and not a view of the beach from the house, but a few steps away and your on the beach - bring your bug spray). Enjoy!

Best Vacation rental we’ve ever had
Best rental we have ever had. The property itself is absolutely stunning, clean, and convenient to everything you could need. The property owner goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. The level of hospitality we felt was more like we were staying at a family members house rather than a rental on Vrbo. The fact that with this rental you have access to both the gulf beach within steps and the bay across the street at the owners other property. Trying to plan our next trip already and we just left this morning

Slice of Paradise
This is a great space for a relaxing time at the beach. Its is a cozy studio style, large carpeted bedroom/living room area with bed, tv, dresser and pull out couch. There is a decent size closet as well. The shower was great. Small kitchen however the host thinks about everything needed (ice maker, toaster oven, ect). There is a hammock on the beach for guest to use. The beach is no further than a few steps around the house and down stairs to the sand. The host is very responsive and readily available if anything is needed. Thank you for the great hospitality!

Parents basement
The pictures show a nice bed with two windows and abundant light. That is not what you get. We had one small narrow window that wouldn’t open and that the shade had to stay down for privacy. The other bedroom is behind a locked door, and it costs additional money. I texted the owner when we got there and he did not respond for a few hours, even though he was on property. I asked about internet and he kept saying it was in the bedroom instead of just giving me the password. He was very condescending and obnoxious. He did leave a 10 page “booklet” to let us know what we can and can’t do. There were many don’t make on this list including don’t walk in front of the house: go around the back and use the path to the beach. At 9:30 at night, he sent his son to tell us we needed to move our car because that was where his grandfather parked. We moved it and we’re then told we couldn’t park there either, although numerous other of their family parked in the circle and blocked it. Someone was in our apartment everyday, turning the temperature way up and goodness knows what else. There was no stove, no oven, a dorm style refrigerator and a 6 inch wide sink, which made it difficult to do dishes (no dishwasher) In summary, we felt like we were living in our parents basement ( no sunlight, 3 small rooms and the 10 page rule book). The rental said kayaks and other activities but there was none there for us. In short, he was seemed to be an entitled person who was very condescending and rude.

Short stay on Manasota Key
This was a 5-day stopover on our way home to New England after 3 months further south. The beach is virtually out the front door, around at the front of the house. This apartment is a comfortable studio kind of place with large BR/ LR, (carpeted) and separate dining area with tiny but functional kitchen (dorm fridge.) Bath/ shower is great and small area to sit outside on canvas chairs. Beach chairs and nice towels provided; swimming is fabulous We found many shells & sharks teeth. The owners were very responsive. Thanks !

I'm semi retired and recently bought this dream waterfront home, recently renovated it, and just listed it in late February 2022, which is why there are few reviews yet far. I live upstairs on the second floor of this private suite, and so am available onsite for assistance if needed between September and April.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this waterfront property in late 2021, which I now live in most of the year, and the suite for rent is a newly remodeled in-law apartment with its own private entrance on the lower floor of the main house, segregated from our second floor living space. A second bedroom on that same floor, connected to the suite and locked off from our home on the second floor, is available for rent for an additional $100 fee per night, if desired. This property is truly unique. It is is one of the last regions of Florida that maintains and protects its subtropical temperate rainforest environment, and it is on the only "canopy drive" protected roadway in the region. There are nearly 50 species of subtropical flora and fauna, and protected wildlife (Gopher Tortoises in particular), and it is a unique and welcome relief from the rest of Florida that has become multi-unit condos or high rise hotels. The natural beauty of the region, and well over 10 miles round trip of beach walking or running, along with fossilized shark teeth collecting as a beach past time, is amazing. The people on the beach are friendly, and pets are welcome on the beach and often appreciated and "loved up" by passers by. Manasota Key Road is well marked for bike riding, bike rental pick up and drop off is available, and the area does a great job at creating safe bike lanes for users. The local recreation department also supports over 8 tennis courts within a 15 minute drive, often empty, and round robin open access tennis is offered Mon, Wed, Friday mornings from 9-11 am, so it is easy to get some doubles tennis even if you don't have a tennis partner. Golf is accessible near by. Live music and restaurants are within 4-5 miles, a quick drive or bike ride. Happy hour music 7 night weekly and libation in open air restaurants is easily accessible, and Sunday night drumming circle at sundown is a weekly ritual worth attending.

What makes this property unique

The primary benefit of this property is that you can hear the ocean waves all night from your bedroom, and a private beachfront is just 30 steps away from your front door. Need I say more?! You can beach walk "forever" to explore or hunt for fossilized shark teeth, a local past time that everyone chats about as they search and find these relics from the past. The community is full of waterfront recreation options, from parasailing to boat rentals, as well as free community use tennis courts. Public golf courses are nearby. 2 Kayaks are onsite for guest use. Bikes can be rented and delivered to your door before you arrive, and picked up after your check out. Live music venues are everywhere, as are dining options. Dearborn Street is worth a stroll for their artistic flair shops and a couple outdoor bistro type restaurants, or a latte at a local cafe', or a visit to a local antique/collectibles shop. There is an energy and vibe to this 1 mile section of Manasota Key Road, and the cozy and quite cottage, that is worth exploring given its uniqueness. It exudes peace and positive energy, and as everyone knows, saltwater and the sea heals nearly everything that ails we humans.
