Just got back from one week here. Really nice and comfortable house (and well quipped) in a great location if you want to be away from the crowds. Had a lot of fun on the lake, hiking the property, and day trips to Acadia. Acadia took us about an hour or so to get to, but well worth staying here- it’s a beautiful drive anyway. I think our dogs had more fun then we did- the property is perfect for dogs. Thank you and hope to be back!!
The Maine Wilderness Oasis is a comfortably place tucked in the Maine woods. It was a great place to stay while our family enjoyed all the great places to see and experience! And, Chausey was a fantastic host!
The property is outstanding, the house has a great layout, and the hosts had everything you could possibly need available. They even had things like a portable high chair and pack n play available for anyone who might travel with little guests and a little dog bed and dog dishes for anyone with a smaller dog.
It was our first time at a VRBO and it was a seamless and amazing stay. The hiking trails on the property were great, and I had lots of chances for great sunrise photos in the woods. The location was close enough to civilization we could adventure out, but far enough away to feel like a true escape. There is so much to do in the area in nearby Bangor and Bucksport. 1A Collectibles and Schoolhouse Antiques, as well as the great small shops all over downtown Bangor and Steven King's original property are great tourist stops. The parks and hiking in nearby Sandy Point park and Ft Knox Observatory and Bridge were phenomenal.
I will make one note for anyone looking at the pictures online, there is a single photo that VRBO has listed as a living room view, that is actually a photo from the nearby Ft Knox Observatory. Although the water is not super visible via the pine trees it is easily accessible with a super short walk, and it was nice to have a little seclusion. There are even a couple smaller waterfalls and creeks right on the property, which my son unearthed in the grasses while exploring near the hiking trails! Wonderful trip, 10/10!
The house was wonderful and the view is great. It is centrally located for the places that we wanted to visit, Bangor, Ellsworth, Belfast, Arcadia, etc.
We had a wonderful visit and the host is wonderful and answers you back very quickly. I would definitely stay again.
The house is lovely with lots of room for everyone. The lake is enormous and private and we really enjoyed paddling the kayaks and paddle boards. Both the lake area and the property have great amenities, like sunscreen by the lake and a washer and dryer. We hiked the trail by the house and got to check out gorgeous forest scenery and scare a few innocent spiders. This was our best friend anniversary vacation and the house was perfectly situated near a bunch of cool stuff without the crowds. We visited Bar Harbor and Bangor and the crazy antique shop off the highway covered in skeletons and enjoyed every minute. Stopped into the observatory and Fort Knox on the way out of town. A+++++
We enjoyed our stay in the Cabin, loved the kitchen it was beautiful. We experienced a power outage while we were there (caused by a car wreck on the highway). I highly recommend adding some candles and flashlights to the property for situations like this. (we used the phone flashlight until they went dead). Thank you for allowing us to rent your cabin, we will use again if in the area. Sorry we didn't sign your guest book, with the power outage we had a lot to do in a short time having to get ready, and pack in the morning.
The dock was my family’s most enjoyable feature of the lake house. We would tube, canoe, kayak, and paddle board until the sun started to set. Thank you for the memories!
If you are looking to relax outdoors, this place would not be of interest. It only seats 3 comfortably on the small deck, and the fire pit in the back has no seating and is surrounded by weeds. The trek to the lake is a little tricky, watch your footing, The inside is very nice and clean with an amazing kitchen. It doesn't have central air just a window unit in the master bedroom, albeit we were pretty comfortable. Overall it was a nice spacious private cabin with an hour drive to Acadia that needs some manicuring and updates outside. Our host Chausey was fabulous, responding to all of our concerns immediately.
This was the perfect Maine getaway that my family and I were hoping for.
We visited Arcadia National Park and did several hikes and sight seeing activities. On our rainy day, we visited Bangor where we did an escape room adventure followed by a wonderful dinner together at the Timber Kitchen and Bar.
Thank you Chauncey for being such a wonderful and thoughtful host. We enjoyed our stay and made some new family memories.
PS, For the cheesecake lovers out there, a little detour out to MoMo’s cheesecake in Ellsworth… totally worth it!!!
We were overjoyed with the property - it was exactly as described on the Vrbo website and scrupulously clean. We loved the proximity to the lake and all the wonderful amenities at the dock area - paddleboat, paddleboard, kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, seating, waste receptacles! It was amazing and the lake was not crowded. We visited Fort Knox nearby and spent great times in Bangor, Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor. We were so happy to bring our dog with us and she was welcomed almost everywhere. We were very happy with our choice of rental home.
Our stay was too short, but very sweet. The house is a bit from Arcadia National Park, if that's your destination, but it was still worth it. The house is very clean and well equipped. The highlight is the lake! Great for kayaking and fishing. The road is a little close to the house and the hiking trail isn't well maintained, otherwise super stay!!
This house was perfect for our family spring break trip (dog included). The host was super communicative and extremely helpful in recommending places to eat in the off season. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Great house and conveniently located. Lots of room for our adult kids and friends. Short uphill hiking on property and kayaking on lake- checked out Bucksport and close to the kids at UMaine, so perfect spot!
