My boyfriend and I stayed here for spring break and it was perfect for us, we are 20 and 21. The location is not far from Wimberly or New Braunfels, I think is was like 20 minutes to either of there downtown areas. It has everything you need and the place is so cute and quiet. Coming from a college town we were so surprised how quiet it was! Cost was a big factor on where we decided to stay because we didn’t want to break the bank on our trip and this place exceeded our expectations. You could also rent out several of them if you had a big group of people. Overall, it was perfect and we would 100% stay here again.
My family is from the area so I like to bring my two young boys as often as possible to visit. We like to have our own space while we are in town and this was the perfect size for us and my mom. It is about 30 minutes from New Braunfels and an hour from San Antonio, the two places we split our time between. It was comfortable, quiet and clean.
We really enjoyed staying at Royal Gate Retreat! The comfortable well furnished tiny house was our home for the month of February to get away for colder winter weather in Northeast Kansas. We enjoyed front porch sitt'n! Liked that the roads were paved in the quiet country sitting. Great for bike riding and going for walks in the neighborhood. The dark night sky was perfect to see the parade of planets! Enjoyed our visits with our host.If we decide to repeat our trip next winter, we will definitely have Royal Gate Retreat on top of our list of options of places to stay,
We absolutely loved our stay at the Royal Gate Retreat.
Located in a circle of the other properties with a grill at each and a grill in the central area (which is pleasant)
Very quiet area, the owners are communicative and friendly.
Within 20 minutes of Canyon Lake, Wimberley, New Braunfels and 30 from Gruene and San Marcos
I would recommend
It was a fantastic experience! Owners Larry and Candy were great! Very kind and helpful, going out of their way to make our stay extremely enjoyable. The accommodations were perfect for us.
We booked this place for a short weekend to watch Georgia play Texas. It’s great if you want to go to San Antonio or Austin, because you’re right in between the two and it’s not a terribly long drive. The inside was great and spacious. It would be perfect for a small family or a couple of friends. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.

This was an excellent rental you won’t be disappointed. The place is a hidden gem.
This is our second time staying at one of Candy’s cabins and again it was a great stay. The cabin is perfect and close to our plans for a concert at Whitewater. The location was close both downtown NB and Canyon lake area, bed was comfortable and upstairs loft was cool. Highly recommend
The cabin was clean and cozy! My kids loved the little upstairs loft! Careful, its only crawling space, not standing space. But it was fun! Very tiny, but still enough space to disappear for some alone time if need be! Candy and Larry are great! So friendly and personable. The location is very much in the country, secluded from most everything. Nice and quiet and you can see the stars at night! Still only 15 mins from fast food, groceries, and restaurants. Only 20 mins to Schlitterbahn and the Comal River! I will absolutely stay here again!
We have stayed in this small home for 2 years straight now and absolutely love it! The property owners were friendly and gave you plenty of privacy. The location was close enough to many activities such as Canyon Lake, Schlitterbahn, various tubing spots and more. We will be returning next year.
We were there for family time in both New Braunfels and Spring Branch. This was a perfect location.
The 5 tiny houses are very cute. Ours had a very nice floor plan. Very clean and great communication with the owners. Had everything we needed. So relaxing, to sit out on the covered porch.
Based on other rentals in the area, it was reasonably priced for the season. We will be using this property when we come and visit family and friends in the future.
Highly recommend if you don't mind being outside the city.
Everything needed was there. You can tell the owners work hard to make sure guests are comfortable. The cabins are well built and have nice finishes. We also own a VRBO and know the work that is put into hosting. They do a great job.
The bathroom had issues with the shower head, controls and toilet seat, however, the landlord did replace the shower head immediately. The whole place was clean and nicely equipped. The sheets need replacing, and there was a bit of a mildew smell. With only one tiny bathroom, it would be helpful to have a mirror in the bedroom, near an outlet, so one can do hair and makeup while the bathroom is otherwise occupied.
It was rather far from town and entertainment, but that's why it was slightly less than other accommodations. It was peaceful and quiet away from traffic.
