Combine the character of a cottage built in 1907 with a thoroughly modern update that only enhances the home's charms and character, rather than detracting from them, and you've got the perfect mountain getaway. But first: coffee. Step outside to your front porch and have a seat on that pretty blue porch swing. Grab a book from inside and relax for a while – why not? You’re on vacation.

When you start getting hungry, head inside to make breakfast. The modern, well-equipped kitchen features stainless steel appliances and all the counter space you need. Distinctive features, such as the butcher-block breakfast bar, exposed brick, and a repurposed fan as a ceiling light give the space plenty of unique charm. When it’s time to eat, grab one of the bright orange chairs at the bar, or head over to the dining room, which features chair rail and the same deep blue walls as the living room and kitchen. After breakfast, it’s time to explore. Hiking, mountain biking, rafting, and scenic drives are all just outside your doorstep, and the charms of Asheville await around 17 miles to the west.

After a day of relaxing fun, it's time to head home for...more relaxation. Fancy a soak? That beautifully restored, celadon-painted clawfoot tub in the bathroom awaits. If you'd rather relax as a group, turn on the electric fireplace and grab a spot on the sofa for some TV, courtesy of the flatscreen. If the weather's nice, get the fire pit in the back yard going and gather in one of the Adirondack chairs to chat about your day and all the fun that awaits tomorrow.

Lovely little home
This was a great place for my family to stay. We used the firepit every night to make stores, we cooked some good meals in the kitchen, and my kids (7 & 9) were asking to go back by the time we got down the mountain. I'm sure we'll be back!!

Wonderful getaway
Loved this sweet farmhouse cottage. The attention to detail with every aspect of this home made us feel like special guests. It’s an old historic home, but had all modern amenities and was very very clean. Bathrooms and bedrooms were well appointed with easily accessible extra blankets, pillows, etc. We enjoyed the front swing, back patio, the quiet mountainside and close proximity to good restaurants. We would highly recommend!!

This was a great house! It was very clean and everything was easy to use and in working order. The kitchen was very nice and usable. My family was attending a conference at Ridgecrest, and chose to stay at this cottage. We were so impressed and the cottage exceeded our expectations on every level! The house is beautiful- it gives an “Anne of Green Gables meets 2023” vibe. You can tell the owners take great pride in this cottage, as great attention has been given to detail, down to the cute little lights in the decking. The outside landscaping is gorgeous! We could see beautiful foliage and colorful blooms from every window in the house. The front porch is large and we enjoyed sitting on the swing and watching the rain. There are other houses around, but the cottage feels quite private due to the trees and foliage. The house is so comfortable! The towels, linens, bedding- everything is new and high quality. We really felt and home and could relax and enjoy ourselves. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need to prepare and serve meals. My kids enjoyed the games, books and toys. Everything in the home worked and was so clean and in order. My family agreed that this was the best VRBO we have enjoyed, and our only regret was that we could not stay longer! We loved, loved this cottage and absolutely plan on visiting again in the future!

Very nice renovation and an inviting house. Great location in a nice area close to the highway. We are a family of tea drinkers and asked the management company to provide a kettle, but w/o asking the owner, they responded that this item is not listed as an amenity!!!! A kettle is quite a basic item for the kitchen! Tried to turn on the fire place, but it was quite dirty and unfortunately, pots and pans were all scratched and not useable.

Great Getaway!
This spot was the perfect, peaceful getaway for our family of 5. It felt as if a friend had opened their home & said to just bring your clothes & some food. Absolutely everything we needed was provided! Even a bucket of toys that our 4 year old loved playing with! Close enough to town that a trip to the store or dinner was not far away, but secluded enough to be able to just relax. It was the perfect landing spot after exploring the mountains each day!

This house was immaculately clean. Beautifully decorated. Everything you need to cook a meal. A mile or less from interstate 40. Very close to the quaint town of Black Mountain. 20 minutes to Asheville. Actually saw three bears pass through the back yard. Lovely sitting in the front porch swing feeling the breeze. We had a wonderful trip and this home made it even more special.

Super cute and great location. Close to downtown Black Mountain and Ingles Supermarket. Kitchen was very well equipped. Beds were comfortable and baths well stocked. Only recommendation would be full length mirrors in the two large bedroom closets.

House is very nice as advertised...Had trouble getting in when we arrived I apparently rented from Evolve? Who is evolve?? so I had communication from Vrbo, Evolve, owner(who is very nice but didn't respond when trying to get in to house) and the local manager.. was looking for vrbo email and info was from Evolve.. Got it worked out but a little confusing.. Also couldn't use washer and dryer..which is why we rent houses...

Nice Mountain get away
Beautifully redone mountain house. Comfortable beds, black out curtains, and lots of linens! My only complaints were there was only one extra roll of toilet paper for 5 people, neighbors’ dog barks early in the morning, and the kitchen blind was down and broken when we arrived. Other then those we enjoyed our stay!
