Just wanted to summarize by saying to stay there was excellent and the hose was very responsive to demands that we had questions. Love the location to downtown Highlands and will definitely return again. Well done.
This cottage provided the perfect little getaway to the NC mountains for my partner and I. We really, really enjoyed the walkability into downtown Highlands and the cottage itself :) highly recommend the Satulah Mountain trail for a day hike and the Ugly Dog for a bite to eat after.
This is a great cabin for one person or a couple with easy access by car or a ten minute walk to Main Street in Highlands. It is also a convenient base for excursions out to Cashiers, Sapphire, etc. Matthew and Alexandra, the owners, are quick to respond to questions and are great to work with. Excellent ease of access to the property.
Super “tiny house”! Everything as listed and absolutely perfect for us- walk to everything in town. Then get in the hiking we love. Will stay again. Liked that the check- out was 11 rather than 10.
This little charmer was like new but in an established and convenient neighborhood. It was well appointed and we were quite pleased with the cleanliness. The reservation process and check-in/check-out were flawless. A "do over" for certain.
My wife and I care for my mom and we got two nights away. We had a blast. We went snow tubing and ice skating at Scaley Mountain. The home was clean and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again.
We took 4 days away from 4 kids and had everything we needed. Cottage is every bit as comfortable as advertised and the hosts go above and beyond. We will absolutely be back if they’ll have us.
We had a great little getaway to Highlands for a winter wedding. The cabin was quaint and clean. Perfect for our needs for a short weekend trip. It was far too cold to use the outside fireplace or enjoy the screened in porch (first snow of the season), but it was a nice amenity and would be perfect in warmer months. The cabin is tucked away in a community of other cabins, so not really secluded with views, but again quaint and close to everything downtown. Great choice for a cozy, convenient stay in Highlands.
We had a wonderful time visiting Highlands. Our accommodations were perfect for us and we will definitely stay here again. We spent our mornings and evenings on the cozy screened-in porch.
We definitely recommend staying in this comfortable and cozy cottage.
We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and we loved it so much that we are considering purchasing something similar. Everything was perfect. I admired the smart design that made the place feel very spacious. The ability to walk to town and the gas station was very much appreciated. Overall a fantastic experience.
Came in town for a wedding. Convenient to the downtown main strip. Has everything that you’d need from a hotel room. Cute little spot. Would stay here again.
What had an awesome stay at this cozy little cottage. There was everything provided that was needed. It is very close to the town of Highlands (could even walk to town) Matthew and Alexandra are wonderful hosts and easy to communicate with. I

About the host

We have a passion for traveling and adventuring and just could not seem to stop booking trips to Highlands, NC. We recently purchased our tiny cottage, which we affectionately call "Carolina Pines."
We call ourselves the "Nomadic Lifestylers" - Find us on Insta, where we document all of our traveling and adventuring, whether its at home in Louisiana or at our second home in Highlands.
Why they chose this property
While we're based out of Louisiana, we live about a week out of every month in our cozy cottage. While in Highlands, we work remotely and try to live a balanced lifestyle, with hiking and all things outdoors.
One of the best parts of Highlands is being outside in the pure crisp mountain air. Carolina Pines allows you to take full advantage of being outside being 1/4 mile from the town center. In addition to being in such close proximity to the town center, you are also just a stones throw from many beautiful hikes and waterfalls, including Highland's beautiful Biological Station and Nature Center which is only a 4 minute walk from Carolina Pines!
