"Leonhard pilgrimage"
The "Leonhardpilgerweg" leads through the whole Salzburger Land! He begins his 130 km at the cathedral in the city of Salzburg and has St. Leonhard at Tamsweg in the Lungau province of Salzburg. The pilgrimage route leads through wonderful landscapes alternately on level paths and gradients up to 900 altitudes. The pilgrimage to Leonhardsweg through untouched nature, beautiful valleys, impressive mountain transitions and many places of interest leave you forgetting your everyday life. The pilgrimage route can also be driven by bike (with deviations from the footpath).
On the way from Salzburg to St. Leonhard also goes through Forstau. Coming from Mandling, you will reach the village center of Forstau via the Brandscharte, past the church of St. Leonhard (built in 1742) with a beautiful Baroque column high altar and the unique Lourdeskapelle (late 19th century). With drippings from the French town of Lourdes. Continue along the romantic stream to the south. There is one of the most beautiful and interesting Kneipp paths in Austria with many different Kneippstationen and a Heilkräuterlehrpfad round off the offer at the Bachweg. Continue along the 7 km long, slightly ascending gravel road to the Fallhausalm (1. 370m) or Vögeialm (1.383m) in the hiking area Forstau-Winkl. From there you continue to the Oberhütte at the beautiful Oberhüttensee (1.855m) and continue to the Salzburg Lungau to St. Leonhard.
