Beautiful Sunset Lake cabin rental

The Bluegill is a cozy cabin located a stones throw from beautiful Sunset Lake in a resort setting with four other cabins in Iron River Michigan. The cabin has a fully furnished kitchen, bathroom with shower, cable TV, electric fireplace, propane wall heater, AC, grill, deck with love seat, patio table and chairs, a full size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sofa sleeper so can accommodate two to four people. Due to no laundry on site you will have to provide your own towels, pillows, and bed linens.

Bring your own boat that you can dock at our pier (boat launch is 500 feet from the cabin) or rent a boat and /or motor in nearby Crystal Falls, MI. or Eagle River, WI. Sunset Lake is a 600 acres and is known for great fishing of panfish, bass, walleye, and northern. Clean your fish in our fish house which has running water and a freezer for your catch.
Enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water and make sure to bring your supplies for s’mores to enjoy as you have a campfire in the fire pit down by the lake. Get ready for sunset lakeside as it is absolutely beautiful and you will see for yourself that the lake has the perfect name. As darkness settles in the amazing stars and quite of the U.P. will leave you with a feeling of peace and contentment.

Enjoy the county park 500 feet away which has a large playground, basketball courts, baseball field, and it’s own large swimming beach.

Head into Iron River which is three miles west for supplies, shopping, great restaurants, amazing coffee and experience the hospitality of a beautiful small town.

Ready for more fun? It’s a short distance to ATV and biking trails, explore the many waterfalls in the area, take a drive to Lake Superior, book a guide for fly fishing and check out the many public hunting areas in the State and Federal forests for your next exciting hunt for deer, bear, grouse, and duck. There are so many things to enjoy in the Beautiful U. P.

Our family of four stayed at this cute cozy cabin. There was a little sand beach and the location was within driving to many places in in UP. We enjoyed our stay!

Peaceful get away.

The cabin was perfect for 2 people. Very clean. We explored many waterfalls and rapid areas in the 5 days we were there. We had never been in the Iron River area before. Just beauty everywhere you look. Would do it again!

Perfect Anniversary Trip

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend, 4 nights 5 days. We're so happy we went with the Bluegill. The property owner is super responsive. The cabin was just right for us and our goldendoodle. There were 2 other cabin owners that were around. They were great! Very inviting, and they became friends of ours. The weather was perfect, little chilly at night, but the heater helped with that! We were blessed with beautiful sunsets every night. The fishing was pretty decent too! All around an amazing weekend. We'll be back!

Bluegill cabin

The Bluegill cabin has no lake view unless you are sitting outside on the deck. The cabin itself was very clean and quiet. It was a nice experience.

Nice place to get away from it all.

This was the perfect time (8/22-8/27) to visit the area. It was quiet and the weather was wonderful. The cabin was perfect for us and the sofa pulled for extra sleeping when we needed it. We were able to relax on the beach of the county park and in front of the cabins.

Clean, functional but very small

Clean, adorable cabin and it’s beautiful but the listing wasn’t really accurate. The pulllout couch isn’t even a full, the cabin faces a parking lot, there is a shared fire pit by the beach (that was not clear when I rented) rather than a separate one. It would be ok for a family with a baby but was way too small for our family with a 6 and a 9 yo. Also, the cabin desperately needs doors and windows and screening redone. There are large gaps that let in mosquitos!

Great for families

We really enjoyed this nicely updated cabin, great for a small family. Though the outdoor space is shared with the neighboring cabins, everyone was very nice and this did not bother us at all. We enjoyed having a place to dock our boat and being able to walk to the park. Our young kids had lots of fun.

Bluegill Cabin

Cottage is nicely updated. Would like to see before and after photos. Neighbors were very friendly and inviting. Loose dog in the area roamed the property which is problematic with our dog. Porch furniture is not comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Flexibility is a must!

Cute little cabin on a large lake and only a short drive from town. Check-in was a breeze and the property owner was very friendly and easy to communicate with. The cabin was fairly clean, minus the many cobwebs. Screen door might as well have been non-existent (quite flimsy with large gaps. The mosquitos loved it). Not swimming or small child-friendly. There's no beach and the small spot by the boat dock where you can get in the water requires you to wear water shoes due to the many shells on the lake bottom. I recommend going to the park just down the road if you want to swim. You also have to share the lakeside deck space and fire pit with the other cabins on the property; so get a spot early if you want to hang out down by the lake as it's first come, first served and can't accommodate everyone staying in all of the cabins (two cabins were empty when we first got there and we still weren't able to get a spot by the lake our entire stay as other families beat us to it, so we spent the majority of our time at the park down the road). The cabin deck space was nice and shady and the landscaping is well maintained. The cabin had everything you could need as far as utensils for cooking and making it easy to prepare meals. Everything was clean and well organized in the kitchen. I recommend bringing an extra comforter or a thick blanket to put underneath you if you plan on sleeping on the sleeper sofa as it's incredibly lumpy and not comfortable at all. Overall, if you're looking for a quiet spot away from others then this probably isn't for you as there were quite a few people around when we were there and you're sharing everything but the cabin space with multiple other people. But if you're looking for a place that's low-key without a lot of frills and you don't mind mingling with strangers and their animals, then I'd give it a shot.

GREAT CABIN GETAWAY!

I loved the cottage and the recent upgrades! I stayed for three nights with my 2 sons (11 & 13) and was pleasantly surprised there was heat and air for the dramatic weather change Memorial Day Weekend. I would stay there again!
