About this property

Waterfront Retreat in Key Largo 90' deep water dock

This home is very private on the largest bayside canal in Key Largo. The swimming canal is home to several species of fish with the underwater light exposing them at night. Tarpon and snapper fishing from the dock is restricted to catch and release. Manatees are a daily experience with an occasional visit from the Dolphin! The split-level dock is 90' with a floating platform for kayak and paddleboard access. The on-site boat ramp makes loading one of the five kayaks or paddleboards a breeze. The community ramp allows up to 30' boats. The dock also boasts a fish cleaning station, gas fire pit, and chickee hut w/ tv. The screened pool is perfect for cooling off and lounging. Upstairs is accessible via the spiral staircase from the pool or thru the internal stairway. The rear screened porch overlooks the water with a table seating eight. At one end of the porch is a hot tub. The modern kitchen is fully equipped. The area is home to some of the best diving and fishing in the Keys. Several local restaurants are accessible by water. There is plenty of parking available which includes space for a boat trailer.

Paradise & Manatees

We had an amazing time at this beautiful immaculate home. The owners, Steve and Phyllis, were so warm and welcoming that we felt an instant friendship with them. Anything you might ever want or need is provided. We rented the pontoon boat, Poppy’s Playground” and enjoyed the bay and sunsets. And if you love manatees as much as I do, the wide canal is filled with them. It was magical! Thank you soooo much Steve and Phyllis for allowing us to spend time at your home in paradise. We hope to be back! Linda and Mike

Great stay in Key Largo

Awesome home to spend month of January. Very clean and comfortable with great amenities. Easy access to Florida bay, abundant manatees, all kinds of fish and occasional dolphin. The kayaks were used daily. Watching football under the chikkii hut with manatees swimming by is pretty cool. Checked all the boxes for us. The worst part was leaving.

About the host

Our love of the water brought us to Key Largo and this has been our home for the last 23 years. We are fortunate to have found a home with such great neighbors. We moved from Miami, our birthplace, and retired from Miami-Dade WASD nine years ago.

Why they chose this property

Key Largo is famous for its access to some of the best fishing and diving in the country. If you're here just to relax, access to the water is just a step away. Pelican Island (seen from the end of the canal) is an easy kayak trip as are a couple of restaurants (Snooks & Bayside Grill) just a few miles away. If you did not bring a boat, we have a pontoon boat available for rent. The Everglades National Park begins at the intercostal just beyond the island in the bay. One of our favorite places to go is Nest Key, five miles into the Everglades National Park, or just float in the bay! Access to the ocean is either through Adam’s Cut to the north, or through Tavernier Creek to the south. Both routes are 10 miles to the ocean side channels. Further south is Snake Creek and Whale Harbor. These channels will lead you to the famous Islamorada Sandbar. Snooks and Bayside restaurants are on the water and in our bay. They offer music and entertainment nightly. If you get the chance to catch Michael Trixx the Rockin' Magician it's a show you'll not forget!

What makes this property unique

Upstairs you will find three spacious bedrooms, two baths, with an office space in the third bedroom. There is a small screened front porch and a large rear screened porch with table seating for eight, a hot tub, and rockers to enjoy the view of the water. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked. There is a dinette for four and a bar with an open-concept living area. The living room has a leather pit group, smart tv, and glass sliding doors that lead to the back porch. The interior stairway provides access to the home even in inclement weather. Just off the downstairs foyer is a half-bath and the laundry room. The front drive provides parking for three vehicles and there is an adjacent lot to the house for additional trailer parking. The downstairs apartment is presently unoccupied and off-limits unless arranged prior. The gas fire pit will give you hours of relaxation as will the screened pool and the Tiki hut. There is a big-screen TV under the Tiki Hut. A floating dock in the waterway makes boarding any of the five Kayaks or paddleboards available for your use. The 90' dock has a ramp at one end to launch the Kayaks and a fish cleaning station at the other end. There is also a hammock, hanging chairs, and an outdoor shower. The dock has a step down in the center to allow for easy boarding of boats. You will be treated to a fish show at night as the underwater light attracts several species of fish including large Tarpon. Don't be afraid of the Manatees as you swim in the canal as they are very sweet and harmless.
