Irresistible Ponte Vecchio Area! Sweet Terrace-AC-Historic Location-5 Stars!

FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT CASETTA BONSI HOUSE
This is a charming small house in an excellent Florence historic location, just two blocks from the landmark Ponte Vecchio. You will enjoy the feeling of living in a home with a terrace, right in the center of Florence!

• Great location near Ponte Vecchio bridge
• Terrace!
• Air conditioning
• Spotlessly clean
• Friendly, helpful English speaking greeter

It is tastefully decorated with an up-to-date kitchen and bathroom.
Cross the Ponte Vecchio going towards the Pitti Palace, take a quick left up a little street, and you're home in two minutes after morning of sightseeing, an afternoon of shopping, or a long lunch. Just on the other side of the river is the famed Uffizi Gallery, only an five minute walk from the house.

One of the most surprising aspects is that this is truly an independent house, on its very own little piazza, the tiny 'Piazza de' Bonsi ' and was built in 1890 by the longtime Florentine Bonsi della Ruota family.

The spacious living room has a beautiful antique painted Venetian china cupboard, lovely Tuscan dining table and chairs, and a comfortable sofa that includes a pop-up trundle bed that can be made up into two twin beds or a king-size bed. Enjoy breakfast in the kitchen if you prefer at the little counter that overlooks onto the private garden of the lovely villa next door. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room with washing machine.

The bedroom is upstairs with a king-size bed and beautiful Tuscan armoire and dresser. Off the upstairs landing is the private terrace where you can take your morning espresso or sip a glass of Chianti as the sun sets over this dazzling city. The bathroom is nicely appointed, clean white tile and marble, enclosed shower, bidet, good water pressure, lots of storage and halogen lighting.

Casetta Bonsi della Ruota is conveniently located, you can walk to all the major attractions.

A gem

This was our favorite place we stayed in all of Italy. The house was charming and comfortable, we loved the beds, the neighborhood was fantastic and very close to everything one would want to visit. We feel lucky to have found it.

Great location and super cute place

We loved our stay in Florence and having this cozy apartment was super convenient. Aside from the short walk up and down a steep hill its was great! Although we didn’t mind the extra exercise! Quiet street close to the bridge and all sorts of action. Highly recommend, will use again!

A week’s return visit to Florence after 25 years

My partner and I found these accommodations spectacular! Impeccably clean and furnished and comfortable. It is true to the pictures online—and the two levels and the layout of the rooms even more delightful than the photos can capture. We were sad to say goodbye to this very special place and hope to return one day.

Firenze trip

Apartment is spotless in very good condition. Exactly as described. There is a fine grocery store close to Ponte Vecchio with a large selection of foods on offer. Also some good pastry shops. One caution is that the access is about 150 meters up a steep hill. At the end of the day for those 60+ after having walked all day, this can be a challenge.

Great location! Easily walkable, quiet neighborhood.

We had a wonderful time staying in this VRBO. The location is perfect, 10/10. We arrived early, the host helped us coordinate a spot to leave luggage to allow us to walk around Florence. We were so close to Ponte Vecchio & a short walk to sunsets at piazzale michelangelo, a grocery store and many good options for aperitivo and coffee. Would return again.

Well appointed Ponte Vecchio

Really enjoyed the unit. It is two levels with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Kitchen and living room downstairs. Well appointed with paintings and nice furniture. AC was great since it was hot. Location was excellent just two blocks up from ponte Vecchio. Very manageable 20 minute walk to train station. Really enjoyed unit although could be difficult with stairs.

Lovely House--Prime location

We loved staying at Casetta Bonsi. Ideally located to see all of Florence--the central squares as well as the L'Oltrarno. Maurizio was the perfect host with lots of suggestions of where to visit, eat, sightsee. Loved the restaurants recommended by him, particularly Il Bordino. The furniture in the Casetta was particularly nice--wonderful wood armoires and cabinets. The bed was very comfortable (as was the pull-out couch.) Our only minor complaint was that the pillows are too foamy--would be great to get some softer ones. We would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend!

Very lovely, well appointed home located on a quite picturesque side street.

The owners, Maurizio and Gabrielle, provided a warm welcome upon our arrival. Maurizio gave us a complete understanding of all the features of the home as well as providing detailed info on local shops, restaurants and points of interest. He was also very helpful in arranging transportation to and from the train station. The house itself is well appointed and provides all the comforts of home. It is also just minutes away from the Ponte Vecchio and other historical sites. When we return to Florence there will be one place we will want to stay and that will be Maurizio’s home.

Authentic Italian

Overall great stay in this authentic Italian apartment. Very clean. The little touches like the bottle of wine, bottle of water, the cookies, the bar of soap, the little extras were very thoughtful and appreciated. Check in was super easy. Fantastic location with walking distance to so much! Literally 3 minute walk away from Ponte Vecchio. Felt very safe here. I thought we would use the balcony but we never did. Not really very comfy. Plus we were out all day every day exploring. The bed was a bit firm. Some may like that. The biggest issue we had was with the mosquitos inside the apartment! We got bitten every night while asleep. And not one or two bites. Many bites. We're from Canada and we're used to mosquitos but we don't have them in our home like this place does. I think screens on the windows would help. That's what works for us.

Great place in the heart of Florence

We spent a week in a wonderful, historic house, only a few meters away from the center of Florence with all its marvels, close to the river and to the ponte vecchio. A good super market is round the corner. Our contact with the agency and with the house owner was easy and absolutely friendly. If you stay in Florence in winter, you will have to pay a bit for the heating, because this comes apart. And ask about the wifi, if you need it. When we were there it was not really reliable, but the owner promised to check. We would certainly book the house again.

Great Apartment

Casetta Bonsi may be the best private apartment we have rented in our travels. The owners provided for every need, comfort and convenience within a classic Tuscan design with modern features. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. We enjoyed the upper terrace for breakfast, afternoon appetizers and wine, and when we dined in. While the apartment's location provides easy access to the Ponte Vecchio, guests should find time to explore and enjoy the Oltrarno neighborhoods. We highly recommend the Lungaro Bistrot for dinner along the Arno River and he Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina for lunch across from the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. We would return to Florence for a third visit just to stay at the Casetta Bonsi again.

A great place to launch your exploration of Florence

The property is sizeable and clean, with all the amenities we needed. Air conditioning worked great, laundry facilities (badly needed at our third week in Europe) were good, and proximity to anything we wanted to walk to was perfect. I will say the cash that was required at check-in was irksome - allowing me to pre-pay online would have helped avoid a trip to the ATM at an awkward time. Also you must traverse a steep incline to get to the apartment, which can be daunting after a day of walking the city. The 2-wheeled vehicles that park in front can definitely be irritating noise-wise, but something we got used to. We had a great stay and will certainly consider this property again for future stays in Florence.

A perfect week!

As our train was arriving in Florence/Firenze, I called our host and upon our arrival by taxi at Casetta Bonsi, he was waiting on us as agreed. Our host spent time with us explaining everything we needed to know for an enjoyable week at Casetta Bonsi, plus he walked with us to show us where the grocery store and some delightful restaurants were located. Our stay at Casetta Bonsi could not have been more perfect, which made our stay in Florence/Firenze stress free and provided us a week of wonderful memories. At Casetta Bonsi, we had all the comforts of home and from its location, we walked everywhere we wanted. Our host arranged for a taxi to meet us on our day of departure and he was there to say "Goodbye" when we left. Our week "flew by" and I only wish we had stayed longer. I hope to return Casetta Bonsi again, for it was a perfect week!

Location, Location.....

My girlfriend and I had such a fabulous time in Florence. We were greeted at the house upon our arrival and given the tour of the house and instructions. Maurizio was so pleasant and full of "inside" info on Florence. I slept on the pull out couch downstairs while my girlfriend took the upstairs bedroom. The sleeping arrangements were quite comfortable. The owners left us with a full bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine. Very generous. I had my breakfast each morning on the second floor veranda. It was so lovely. Listening to the church bells ring all over Florence on Sunday morning while having coffee was unbelievable. I'll never forget it. I thought the location of the house was perfect. It's a bit of a climb up the street but you are central to everything without the noise. I got lost once taking a stroll around but knew if I just got to the Ponte Vecchio I could get back. I loved that. Working with Lisa at Italy Perfect was a pleasure. She always got right back to me with any questions I had. I would definitely use Italy Perfect for future trips.

A gem near the Ponte Vecchio and a bargain to boot!

My husband and I spent a week at Casetta Bonsi and it is all that is advertised. This was our 5 time in Florence so we decided to stay across the river. We were greeted by Mauricio who told us everything we needed to know about the place and gave us a history of it as well. Ask him about it, it's a great story. Located just up small hill (walking it burned off our pasta and wine every night!) from the Ponte Vecchio, Bonsi has a well equipped kitchen, well lit bathroom and cozy bedroom. Since we spent a month in Italy, certain things were important: a dresser to put clothes and a place to hang some, a washer. Drying is not bad in winter if you put clothes on towel warmer or near a heater on a drying rack. The kitchen had what we needed...mostly. If you like ice, you can buy disposal bags at store to make it. There is a great grocery store down the hill and many restaurants nearby as well. It is decidedly less touristy on the other side of the river which is a plus as well. But a short walk across. Totally recommend touring Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. Restaurants: Gusta Pizza is nearby as is one of our favorites, Pandemonio. Couple of things to keep in mind - you might have to pay a bit more for electricity at the end especially in winter but considering the price for the place, it's a a small amount. Make sure you read all from Italy Perfect - they do a great job of telling you what you need to know.

A Lovely Place for Younger People

We stayed at the charming Casetta Bonsi based on the number of excellent reviews, all of which we understand. The Casetta, or little house, is in a tiny piazza in the Oltrarno neighborhood of Firenze. It has been thoughtfully and lovingly outfitted to be a home away from home. It has a great kitchen, washing machine, small but comfortable bathroom with shower. It's owner, Maurizio, is a lovely and caring man who was totally attentive to our needs. Why only 3 stars? The fault is entirely my own. I'm 57 and my husband is 67. Although we're in quite good health, the next time we stay in Firenze, we'll stay in a single floor apartment with a lift. 20 years ago or even 10 years ago, I'd give the Casetta 5 stars. I'm only giving it 3 for other older folks to know that they might perhaps prefer staying someplace with fewer stairs. That being said, though, the location is absolutely perfect (other than the hill it's on). The Oltrarno neighborhood was everything we hoped for and more. There is an extremely close perfectly stocked grocery store, a wine bar, it's mere steps to the Ponte Vecchio, excellent panini, pizze, trattorie.......we hope to return to the Oltrarno again and again. If I had any suggestion for the Casetta, it would be to have a nice warm throw in the living room to snuggle under (we were there at the end of October, and heating wasn't allowed, so it was cool throughout), and an extra blanket for the bed. Truly, the place is absolutely lovely. We're just a bit too old and too used to fairly luxurious travel, so the drop in stars is really our fault, not the Casetta's.

Lovely house, fantastic location

We spent four weeks at Casetta Bonsi in October 2021. Since we were there for an extended period, we settled in and became very familiar with the house and surroundings; more so compared to the usual one-two week visit. The house proved to be very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is large and has plenty of closet space. The bed was very good. The bathroom also is fairly large and features new, modern furnishings. The terrace is small but good for sitting out in for morning coffee. The downstairs seating and dining areas were great for lounging around during the evening. The kitchen is small but functional, and fairly well-equipped. (Note, however, that while there is a microwave, it doesn't have an oven.) The dishwasher and clothes washer were an added bonus. As other reviewers have noted, the location is exceptional. The main tourist areas are steps away. Plus, the Bardini and Boboli gardens are a short walk up the hill (past a house where Galileo once lived); both are lovely and a great respite from the crowds (although, TBH, it wasn't so crowded when we were there). Finally, the owner, Maurizio, was very friendly and accommodating. We needed his help with a couple of very minor things, and he was super helpful and responsive. Recommended heartily and unconditionally!

Wonderful Florence apartment, location and stay!

Wonderful vacation in Florence! Our stay at Casetta Bonsi was perfect from start to finish. We totally enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, charming house very close the Ponte Vecchio bridge. It was spotlessly clean, very beautifully furnished and well maintained as well a lovely welcome of chocolates for our arrival! Loved having a glass of wine at the Golden View just a 5 minute walk away, great views over the Arno river at sunset. Favorite restaurants were Casalinga and Il Bordino for authentic Tuscan food. We would definitely recommend staying at Casetta Bonsi.
