About this property

Happy Valley Log Cabin Farmhouse Shenandoah Valley

Early 1800's Log Cabin located in beautiful Steeles Tavern, Augusta, VA. This 1600sf cabin/farm house is situated on just under an acre with smaller fenced yard for your dog to run around and enjoy! Beautiful sunrise view from the front porch. The back yard with stone fire pit & charcoal grill is perfect for cooking outdoors with evening fires and stargazing! We have firewood already on the property for you. Less than an hour from everything you're looking forward to do doing in the Shenandoah Valley!

The cabin is 200+ years old, so it is full of quirks. Floors are slanted, ceilings are all different heights, some door frames are very low.

The cabin has minimal modern updates, so expect to relax and unwind. Internet is available but is only good for checking email, social media, some minor streaming.

AC window units/ central propane heater that can be supplemented with space heaters located in all bedrooms and kitchen

Rustic Shanendoah cabin at it's finest

We found this home to be exactly as advertised. Clean, comfortable, and country. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had eveything we me needed. The bathroom had the old clawfoot tub but the hanging cutains wrap around nicely and the water pressure and quality were great. Our chocolate lab loved exploring the fully fenced private backyard. Although there is no cable TV there is an extensive dvd collection and dvd play which kept our daughter busy in the evening. Yes, the home is quirky but we found it charming and a great option in-lieu of a basic hotel room with no space or yard. The internet service was strong enough for internet browsing and emails which wss all we needed. We would definitely stay here next year when we return to visit family again.

Felt peaceful and safe.

It's an old building with some creaky floor boards but well built. The rustic charm with modern amenities is just what we were looking for. The neighbors are far enough away for privacy but close enough to give a sense of security. We would stay there again.

Fun unique property

All of the details and caveats in the listing were helpful and accurate. We loved that the property was quiet but within a 30-60 minute drive of everything we wanted to see. The hosts have provided all the necessary kitchen items and great resources to help you enjoy the area. We didn’t have a dog with us but I can see that this is a perfect property for a trip with a dog. The cabin is an adventure in itself with glimpses into history and many unique features. I would happily stay again.

I am a retired Jeweler and we purchased this log cabin/ farm house as a future retirement home in the Shenandoah Valley. We currently live in Richmond, VA

Why they chose this property

We love this property because of its proximity to everything we love about the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and Shenandoah Valley, wonderful National parks and forests, great hiking, biking, swimming, wineries, breweries, museums, zoos and local parks!

What makes this property unique

a unique experience to step back in time but also have modern conveniences such as washer/dry heating and air-conditioning, functional kitchen (minus a dishwasher) The front porch is such a nice place to have your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.
