Super cute cabin located in a heritage center with plenty of hiking trails. There was no hot tub but that was perfectly fine. It was a great cabin for a friend and me to get away for the weekend and "forget" about mom duties for a couple days!
Beautiful, peaceful, interesting, and lovely location and property. Lots of birds and deer. Nice trails. Cabin was quiet, quaint, and private. Visitor Center staff were kind, engaged, and knowledable. Neat displays and information. Enjoyed learning about Norwegian heritage and history. Property manager provided great communication. Signage to property was also helpful. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely visit again.
We feel so fortunate to have experienced such a sweet cabin nestled in a breathtaking valley. We were able to get up in the morning to peace and tranquility. We went on an early morning hike each day with our dog seeing the most beautiful wild flowers, rolling hills, fog and an area that made us feel we were in Norway. We hated to leave, but will definitely be back.
Very cute and well-maintained cabin at the Norskedalen nature center. Location is quiet and serene, but there are some fun little shops in town if you are looking for something to do.
The cabin has lots of stairs and the bathrooms are in the basement, which was fine with us but might be an issue for young children & those with mobility impairments
This cabin was such a nice reminder of simpler times. The location was private yet close to all trails. On the downside, the ladder to get upstairs was difficult resulting in only 1 person able to sleep in a bed. In the downstairs shower/tub, ther was a slow drain and standing water while you showered. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there. Lori is a very nice lady! Thank you!
This world is getting a little crazier every day, and the rush-rush of our hectic lives can sometimes be overwhelming. If you want to get away from it all, just for a little respite, there is no better place anywhere to soak up the history, the surrounding nature, the wildlife, and an off-the-grid time of peace. than the Per and Anne Paulsen Cabin at the Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center. An experience of a lifetime!
The cabin was adorable. Older people be warned that to get to the bedroom you do have to climb a ladder but we are over 65 and had no problem. At night you have the whole park to yourself which is amazing. There is an historic village at the park which was fun to walk through and the paths are lovely. It is a Little House on the Prairie cabin as advertised and certainly worth the stay.

About the host
Hosted by Lori Dubczak
I am Norskedalen's Executive Director. I truly love to share the beauty, the history, the natural resources of Norskedalen with every guest! It is especially delightful when a guest shares the experience of looking out the kitchen window as they fix their morning cup of coffee to see a family of deer still sleeping in the cabin's backyard!
Why they chose this property
It is such a treat to stay in an actual historic cabin, one that was built with hand-hewn logs more than a century and a half ago! Couple that with 400 acres of nature that has about 9 miles of hiking trails throughout - oh, did I mention natural springs and waterfalls too? It really is unlike any other place you could choose to visit!
What makes this property unique
Norskedalen also is home to the Historic Bekkum Homestead, a collection of 13 historic buildings that represent a typical homestead from the 1860s. Several other historic buildings are also on the property. The Visitors' Center has three galleries of displays for you, as well as a delightful gift shop! Plus, we're close to a number of communities, large and small.
