One of the few pet-friendly cottages in Beaufort! Come enjoy a comfortable one-bedroom cottage with a big yard 2 blocks from the waterfront. Set back from the road this cottage is unique in the heart of Beaufort. Ideal for a morning coffee on the porch and afternoon walk on the waterfront with your pup. Relax with a board-game or puzzle and enjoy dinner on the screened in side porch. Connect to WiFi to work remotely or disconnect and enjoy Beaufort. Check us out on insta @thesouthernsaltydog!
My approach with this space is to keep it comfortable and dog-friendly while celebrating our coastal town of Beaufort. For the pups this means dog beds throughout the cottage, a complimentary toy and treats upon arrival and baggies conveniently provided for keeping the yard clean! For our guest this means a great room blending a comfy couch, workspace and dining area lined with bookshelves stocked with puzzles, games, and all the gadgets to make a good martini (shaken not stirred). A beautiful screened in porch provides outdoor dining or relaxation space. The king size bed with its fleece lined comforter and (many) pillows creates a space for a peaceful nights sleep.
I can accommodate up to four guests if needed with an air mattress upon request. I can also provide two large kennels if needed for an extra $25 charge if needed. Note that at this time the yard is not fenced in as I am waiting on a contractor with availability and any pups need to be under voice or leash control at all times when outside for their and our neighbors safety.
Guest access to the home is provided by a long grass drive way leads to the gravel parking spots by the potting shed. The restaurants, museums and state park ferries are three blocks away on Front street. Morehead City is a ten minute drive across the bridge.
We do have a working fire place in the cottage but instructions for use are provided upon request and the guest accepts all liability for damage to the house if used incorrectly.

We had a fantastic stay. All of the amenities you could possibly need were available. This rental was perfect for our dogs. We never travel with our pets because it is so difficult to find any place that is pet friendly and doesn’t cost a fortune. The home was absolutely beautiful and the pull out worked great for our toddler. We will definitely be staying here again if we are in the area in the future.
The property manager was very nice and informative. Great location within walking distance to Front St. AND the dogs were very comfortable with the dogs beds and fenced in yard. Would definitely stay here again!!!
Well maintained property. Owners were attentive to our needs and provided lots of goodies for dogs. Our pups loved the fenced in yard to explore in. Location is awesome, only two blocks to the waterfront, shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if we venture to Beaufort in the future.
This was the perfect place!! It’s not to far from downtown , so you can walk everywhere. It was so charming and we loved the screened in porch. We would definitely stay there again!!
This property was perfect location to Front Street shops and restaurants. It was fully stocked with everything you would need.comfortable and clean! My Boxer loved the fenced yard, nice dog crate and dog treats. Me and my sister were there 4 nights and would definitely stay there again. Thanks so much!
Though we were only in town for four days, our relaxing time at this tucked-away cottage made it feel like a week or more. The location is deal for exploring all of Beaufort, for frequent dog walks for our minipin, and for quick jaunts to Front Street for food. The house was well appointed and tastefully decorated and we really enjoyed just hanging out and sitting on the screen porch. We'll be back!
We were very pleased with this rental! We've stayed at other pet friendly rentals that weren't as accommodating as this house was. Our dogs loved the fenced in yard so they could run around. We could tell they were relaxed and happy! The house was clean and very convenient to walk to Front Street.
Words cannot express our delight in this home. We travel a lot and was so surprised to see how well appointed this home was. You thought of everything! We really appreciated the scrap book and history of this place. Thank you for sharing. We will book again when we decide to return to Beaufort.
This is an amazing property, tucked in behind some houses, so not directly visible to the road. The house was very clean, well decorated, and was very comfortable overall. If I can return soon, I will. Highly recommend!
The house wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival so I had to clean everything that afternoon but other than that it was great. Love and appreciated how dog friendly everything was
My husband and I brought our 3 dogs with us for a much needed relaxing long weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations for us and them. Sarah had treats, beds extra poop bags waiting. We thoroughly enjoyed the porch and the dogs enjoyed the fenced yard. Very quiet and peaceful.
My husband and I stayed here with our dog for five days, and couldn't be happier with our choice. Location is great- a leisurely 10 minute walk to Cru for coffee or the waterfront for dinner/shopping, and far enough away from the 'main drag' for it to be peaceful when we wanted it. My husband was able to work during day over zoom, and the internet worked perfectly the entire time.
Sarah's a great host- responsive, personable, and knowledgeable. A+, would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Dog friendly Beaufort house.
The house was spotlessly clean and very dog friendly as advertised. The fenced front yard was great. It was an easy walk to the center of Beaufort for restaurants and shops. My only complaint was we were initially given the wrong the wrong WiFi code. We could not use the internet or watch tv. I texted the host but got no reply. By accident I discovered the current WiFi at the desk. Also the house was a little chilly in the morning - especially the bathroom. We could not control the heating.
We spent Thanksgiving at this beautiful cottage with our 2 border collies. We loved the fenced in yard and the proximity to shops and restaurants. The gardens are beautiful although somewhat overgrown. There was a slight problem with the refrigerator door staying closed. That being said, we absolutely loved the property and the town. We will definitely book this cottage again!
The cottage was VERY quite and everything was clean except all the dog beds that were placed through-out the house. Not sure if the cleaning crew are responsible for washing between guests or not. If not, I would suggest discountining offering them.
This house is amazing. Beautiful and plenty of room for a 1 BR. The fenced in front yard is full of wonderful plants and flowers. It is fenced in and my dog loved it. We both especially loved the screened porch. Every afternoon or evening was spent there winding down! Everything is clean, well decorated, functional. The hostess was so nice to return our messages. I go to Beaufort every year and will be staying here from now on. It’s a bit of a walk to town, but not bad at all. Very dog friendly! Wood floors and plenty of dog beds.
The attraction of the property was that it was close to the friends we were visiting and dog friendly (just in case we changed our mind to bring our dog). The cottage has a lot of space, so it would be good for a longer stay even if the weather forced you indoors. Because we were visiting friends we didn’t spend as much time in the cottage as we might normally. It is a block from Front St and all the downtown shops, restaurants and art galleries. A perfect location.
Sometimes we rent places where the online profile made the property seem just a little nicer than it actually was. The OPPOSITE was true for this place; it was even better than advertised. Cute, cozy, and convenient! We absolutely loved it and will most certainly be back. Dog lover or not, this is the place for you.
Set back from the street among mature gardens with yard space for our dogs to stretch their legs, the house is beautiful and well set up for both indoor (comfortable furniture and an open layout) and outdoor enjoyment (2 fully outfitted porches) I've been visiting Beaufort for over 30 years and this is a place we plan to stay again
