The view is sublime… beautiful trees, grass lawn, proximity to the water… but the property itself was mid. We arrived after dark, to be led to a mobile home park/campground and a “you have arrived at your destination .” What?! Where are we? Luckily Nancy was available by phone and came out to meet us. She was adorable and very helpful showing us around the cabin.
The property is cute, and a great place to stay if you’re not looking for high aesthetic. Simple, homey and sparsely decorated in a very “beach friendly” indoor/outdoor way. That is to say, all the seating was patio furniture, much to my wife’s chagrin when she was up with insomnia (no doubt because she was seething that I had booked this place after she had told me no way when she reviewed the photos).
However, the view slowly won her over and we enjoyed watching our 7 year old play happily on the shore, pulling weeds from the mucky shoreline, chasing frogs, and digging in the sand on the semi public beach. The kayaks were great and we spent a long afternoon touring the gorgeous lake.
Will we be back? Wife says no, but the kid and I didn’t care as much about the tiny bathroom, inconsistent hot water and warnings to not use the toaster and microwave or a curling iron and air conditioner at the same time.
It’s rustic, adequate, quiet (we were there off season, though) and a great retreat. Also, my wife admitted the blue and white paint was pretty.
