Nice Getaway Just Needs Cleaning & Maintenance
Kirby the property manager was responsive & available for phone calls & texts so that made the stay easier. There were so many dead bugs, though, all over the home, including in and on the bedding! I washed the bedding we were going to sleep on, as well as swept the whole place, before bringing our things in, because it hadn't been done in a while, so it appeared. The bathtub on the main floor was spewing water out of the connection pipe, Kirby said it was recently replaced & must of just not gotten on tight. The sink in the same bathroom is clogged. The bathtub in the laundry room bathroom is stuck on shower. The shower upstairs shot water to the toilet when you turned it on. Couches are shot, you sit down and go to the floor! Pool table is a nice addition. Pillows are FLAT, bring your own - wish I'd known bc I've got metal in my neck & it has to be supported. Stop and get gas & ice on the way in as well as anything you may need, it's a 30 min drive each way to a store that may have essentials at the gas station. WE are booked for the 2nd stay in April for my son's wedding, and I pray it's cleaner with linens replaced and pillows replaced, and the plumbing fixed!

Wonderful Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was exactly what we were looking for - a beautiful place to unplug and escape for the holiday. The views are beautiful, we loved the horses, and we even spotted a bear! The house had everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Motorcycle trip
Excellent! We have been coming to this area for ten years with our motorcycles. Our group gets bigger every year. We needed ten beds and enough room for our trucks and trailers so this property worked perfect. We had one issue with the AC but that was fixed quickly. Contact with the management was easy and quick to respond. Would definitely recommend this property!

Great Thanksgiving Stay
We had a great time staying at this house for our family thanksgiving. Beautiful property, plenty of room for everyone, hiking trails on site and a short drive away. The basement was a cold some nights when the fire went out, so some more space heaters would have been great and a few more house flies then we would have liked but no big deal. Kirby was very responsive and helpful! Over all a great memorable stay. I would highly recommend!

Family Vacation
Sherman, Thanks so much for the use of your beautiful cabin. The sights were incredible and everyone had a great time! Lots of memories, the camp fires were awesome!!! We visited Hungry Mother State Park, enjoyed the fishing, swimming and the beautiful scenery...we had 9 people total, 7 adults-2 grandkids and 3 dogs. We would definitely revisit this cabin in the woods.

Family Reunion
It was a great place to have a family reunion. Plenty of space to go to a quiet spot and plenty of space to hold games with the entire family. The driveway was a challenge but the property and the house was beautiful. We had an issue with the a/c but Kibry was very responsive and worked with me until it was rectified. We would highly recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful!
We loved the property and the home was absolutely beautiful. The property management was very accommodating to our needs. Everything you need from blankets, to cooking utensils, to towels. Everything we needed was right there. There was plenty of sleeping space and lots of property for outdoor activity. We will definitively reserve again. Thanks Sherman and Charles for everything!

Great property
The property was great. There were a few road closures that took us a different way up the mountain, but we saw fox, deer, black bear, and a variety of other things along the way. (Closures were definitely out of the property owner's control.) The views are stunning, it's pitch black at night, and the back porch, hammock and all, was a great place to sit in silence and enjoy the scenery. The property was big enough for the whole group and was perfect for what we wanted. Will be back.

Peace, Privacy and Picturesque
Lovely large cabin in the woods with ample space for playing, lounging on patios and just enjoying nature. Spectacular surroundings. Kitchen could use some upgrading in terms of making sure oven is clean and fresh. Owner was delightful to work with. We would recommend this rental to others, just don't plan on exotic cooking. Go simple i.e. grill.

We just stayed the weekend and had a GREAT time. Not only was the cabin EXCELLENT but the view was INCREDIBLE! It had recently snowed and the power still stayed on in spite of the weather. The property manager was extremely helpful and the owner was quick to contact us about weather issues prior to our stay. I would STRONGLY recommend this cabin rental to all my friends! We plan to return and are looking forward to the changing colors of the trees during the Fall season.

Fun Family Reunion at the Cabin in the Blue Ridge
The property was perfect for our large gathering of nearly 30 people for 4 days. We loved the location (even though a few folks missed it the first time in). There was plenty of room for all to sleep and the kitchen was more than ample for our crew. The somewhat remote location, with plenty of acreage was ideal for our large group, especially since the weather was absolutely perfect. And, it wasn't a bad trip to Hungry Mother State Park for a day of swimming and biking. Our group had lots of avid hikers, so the combination of trails right on the property as well as a 10-minute drive to the Appalachian Trail made us very happy! Thanks for such a great place to gather our large brood for a weekend of fun and family!!

Amazing stay, amazing service, beautiful view and wonderful accommodations
We had a 6 night stay in this beautiful cabin this past week. We had 30 women and there was plenty of room. April was incredibly accommodating and had everything we needed. She checked in with us daily and made sure we didn’t go without. She even helped us get the firewood to experience an amazing fire in fire pit on our last night. The customer service was incredible from the beginning of the booking to leaving the last day. I recommend this beautiful place to anyone that wants an incredible peaceful experience on acres of land and miles of beauty. It was absolutely perfect and all we imagined it would be. Looking forward to visiting again.

Perfect for multi-family vacation
This property is amazing! The house is in an incredibly beautiful location. The view from every window is gorgeous. There is easy access to plenty of hiking trails. The place was clean and very well-maintained. We used the house to meet up with 5 families of young children. There was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen and living areas were perfect for gathering. The kids loved the cows and horses that live on the property--we were even able to ride the horses one day! We had originally picked this property because it was centrally located, but it was so much better than we could have expected. We will definitely be back for years to come!!

Labor Day
We had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend spent with friends and family at this cabin. The cabin was beautiful. Everyone that dropped by had nothing but wonderful things to say. I wish the bedrooms were finished in the basement, as it made for difficult planning as we had children to consider and the fact one bedroom had a window with no glass open to the den really made it challenging. With this said I can't wait until we can return in the future. We enjoyed every minute we were there. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Not for winter stays - Needs more attention to details
Though there are both pros and cons, the con related to the inadequate heating for a home this size in winter became dominant. I organized this family gathering and the lack of adequate heat became an unfortunate focus. The heat could not get the house above 66 in mild winter temps, and once the outside temps dropped to the teens the house temperatures dropped to the 50s. This is despite us starting a fire in the wood stove and keeping it going all day. The temps stayed between 56-68 (at the warmest times of the day) in the main living area; other parts of the house were much colder. The digital thermostat even issued a warning of "call for service". Obviously, the cold became an undue focus and a source of complaints by the family, and as the organizer of this gathering an embarrassment. The host apologized but no remedy during our stay -possibly because no service technician available- but nevertheless this was not our fault and a big detriment to the enjoyment of our stay. I had hoped the host would reach out afterwards and offer some type of refund, but after 2 weeks, no outreach. This review follows that delay. Now the rest - Pros: Rustic, quaint setting with horses on property, large kitchen moderately equipped. Christmas decorationsCons: several of the bedrooms have no curtains so difficult to sleep in (received complaints); several missing light bulbs (I fixed) and malfunctioning light (uselessly dim) in master; only 2 dish-washing pods. No kindling/paper available.

Seasonal Bugs & Driveway rocks & ruts
This was the second stay in this vacation home in 8 years. The remote location and the size of the gathering areas are a plus as is the bonfire pit and the surrounding hills which are beautiful in the Fall. However, the driveway is treacherous, especially in wet weather when the mud and potholes prevail. Our van scraped on the rocks as it climbed the hill to the house. When we entered, there were dead and dying bugs on nearly every surface, including the pillows and sheets. The property management team member assigned to us refused to come back out to clean after our arrival. This made for a continual process of sweeping up the carcasses during the stay taking away family time. There were other issues with the home that surfaced during our time there, the property management team has been advised of these concerns separately.

Good but ....
the place was ok, but there was no water pressure in the house. The showers were a trickle of water. On a couple of occasions the water stopped completely coming out of the shower head. it was a joke. The dishwasher did not work because there was no pressure, everything stayed dirty. Than we had to wash them by hand because there was no pressure. We called the property manager and they said they would send someone out. they never did. this was a miserable problem. So why am I paying full price and only getting part of a house. Why am I using VRBO and they property manager does not care or respond. Not having water pressure is a big deal. Just like making sure I pay the bill. So how is that fair... we get water trickling out of a faucet and yoou still get all your money

Nice cabin , driveway needs work
Overall decent time at the cabin , but the property has to tackle some much needed upkeep . Driveway is downright dangerous in the rain and is not motorcycle friendly at all , mice in the basement ( we caught 12 ) , and A/c struggled to keep the place cool . Views are amazing and is very peaceful . With some repairs and upkeep, it would be a great spot , but in currant condition I have it 3/5 .

The main problem was that the only means of communicating from the property is through century link Wi-Fi. A storm came and knocked out that service. We had no outside communication if we had an emergency. The house is amazing. Clean, and had a well stocked kitchen.

More than worth it
This is an amazingly beautiful, restful setting with a beautiful log house and large lawn with a fire pit. Sherman and April are terrific about communicating and helping you have a wonderful stay. Some things in the kitchen were missing or didn't work/work well, and I think they are continuing to improve the basement as they are able to, but April and Sherman are working on things and April even made a special trip to bring up something we needed. My daughters slept comfortably in the main basement room. I would recommend arranging to be there when April can meet you in case you need something or have trouble getting in because there is no cell phone reception up there. If you want to get away and be restored, this is the place. Appalachian Trail and Hungry Mother State Park provide two more beautiful nature settings close by. We had 26 people there for a family reunion and did not feel crowded. We had a great time. The mountains are a great backdrop for family photos!
