Amazing views! Perfect vacation rental! Great owners!
We loved staying at this wonderful house rental. Right on the ocean and guaranteed beautiful sunsets. Janice and Troy greeted us when we arrived and let us know of places to shop, visit, and countless tips of great things to do! The rental is very clean and accommodating...we hated to leave to our next destination. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom were stocked with everything you would need. Also, beach chairs, mats, boogie boards, etc... came in handy for our day trips. We also had a very nice goody basket that even included three fruits. The location is ideal. Close to North Shore and was easy to get to South side of Oahu too! Look no further...stay at the House of the Rising Sun....you will be glad you did!

Had a wonderful stay
This was a great option for me. Oahu is at capacity and I needed a place closer to my work while staying in Hawaii. Staying at this property was so much more enjoyable than a resort. The ocean is right out the back door. The sounds and views surely added to the relaxation and recharge to keep me ready for my work. Thanks for offering this beautiful property to visitors in Oahu.

A Little Bit of Heaven On Earth
Troy and Janice were very helpful before our vacation supplying us with lots of information about activities, restaurants, etc. They were there to meet us the night we arrived and made us feel very welcome. They gave us the traditional leis welcome and a beautiful gift basket full of goodies. They went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. This lovely house was spotlessly clean and well equipped. We watched beautiful sunrises every morning from the deck so close to the ocean. We watched equally beautiful moonrises several nights as well. During the day, we drove to absolutely beautiful beaches and enjoyed watching surfers tackling some of the biggest waves we've ever seen. We enjoyed being 'in the country' and made sure to visit some really neat places to eat. Papa Ole's in the nearby shopping center had great food and was obviously a favorite of the locals. Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, just a few miles north, was fantastic! This was a very relaxing and beautiful vacation. We hated going home. If we ever travel to Hawaii again, we want to come back to the House of the Rising Sun. Thank you Troy and Janice for sharing your lovely home.

Awesome!!
My first trip to Hawaii and I didn't want to stay in Honolulu with all the crowds. I wanted relaxing, ocean front, a clean beautiful place to stay. I researched and researched and decided upon the House of the Rising Sun. From my first contact with Janice I knew this was the spot for my husband and I to spend our vacation. You will not be disappointed!! So relaxing and the view from the deck is amazing! Troy and Janice show the true Aloha Spirit!!

Don't think twice...
From the moment we stepped into the house and were welcomed by Troy and Janice with leis, we knew this was Oahu's North Shore at its best! The house was beautiful and the location right on the beach front was fabulous and House of the Rising Sun was indeed blessed with a direct view of the rising sun. It was spotlessly clean, linens and furnishings were perfect, fully equipment kitchen and even binoculars and beach equipment available to use. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property for your vacation - it was so hard to leave it behind. Lastly, before they left us to it, Janice spent as long as we needed to highlight tourist information and tips that really made a difference to our stay.

So Relaxing!
We stayed at the House of the Rising Sun for our honeymoon, and it was perfect for us! It was extremely relaxing with the beautiful views of the water, sunrises and the mountains, and the beautiful soothing ocean sounds (that we miss so much). We found ourselves just wanting to stay there rather than go out! It was very comfortable, especially the bed, and had everything stocked in the cupboards that we needed. It also proved a great central location in terms of going north or south to explore, or even to some beautiful beaches just up the road. But by far the best part of our stay was meeting the owners Troy and Janice. They made us feel so welcome and we're a huge help in their knowledge of things to do and see and great places to eat! We we're touched by their delicious gift basket and just how special they made us feel! We can't wait to return again for an anniversary!

What a location!!!!!
The location of this rental home is just fantastic. It's so close to the ocean, that it provided an environment where I took some of the best naps of my life. What a view. Unmatched. The cleanliness and condition of the rental was just great, and you can't ask for better hosts. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable week. Dan and Yvonne

Fantastic!
My wife and I stayed at Hale O Kalahiki after visiting some some friends on the big island. What a great and relaxing way to spend the few days we had left before heading back to the mainland. The house was very clean and neatly kept, had everything we needed (the gift basket was a nice touch) and best of all, it was right on the beach! We really enjoyed fishing in the mornings with the tackle that was provided and relaxing in the lounge chairs in the afternoon. The best part? We didn't have to share our beach with anyone! We attempted a few outings/tours/luau (there are plenty of options on that side the island), but each time we found ourselves anxious to get back "home" to our private beach retreat. Thanks again Janice and Troy! p.s. thanks also for the Giovanni's Shrimp Truck recommendation, it was definitely worth the short drive for lunch.

Great property!
My mom and I stayed at the House of the Rising Sun just a few weeks ago. We had a great time! The house itself is in wonderful condition. We were very impressed with how clean and orderly the property was! You can't beat the views from this house. It is literally right on the ocean, and you also have a view of the mountains from your porch. It was great for sitting outside and enjoying a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the ocean. We didn't swim in the water right outside the home, since it's not really a beach but more rocky. We did walk around on the rocks and explore some of the tidepools. The property is very close to a grocery store and some places to eat (right across the street). It is not far from all the famous North Shore beaches and places to eat, but we would definitely recommend having a car! It seems like it would have been difficult to get around without one in that area. Troy and Janice were so welcoming! They greeted us and took the time to find out what we were interested in doing and providing guidance on the best places to go. They've also set up a binder that gives you information on activities around the area. It's great! We were also given a delicious fruit basket with goodies that we ate throughout our stay there :) Also, they provide plenty of extras like sunscreen, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, coolers, fishing rods. Pretty much anything you can think of! We had a wonderful stay here and would recommend this house to anyone visiting the North Shore. :)

Best week of our lives!!!!
If you are looking for a place to stay in Oahu then your search should end here. I searched for hours and hours on this site and other places for a place to stay for my wedding/honeymoon. All of that time searching paid off. When we arrived we were joyously greeted by Troy and Janice and showered with a gift basket and a wealth of information that was vital to enjoying our time in paradise. They also gave us their cell phone number so we could ask questions on the fly if necessary. The house is extremely clean and within a couple hours you truly feel like you are at home. The pictures do not do it justice. We woke up to the most amazing sunrises on the face of the earth. The sound of the water constantly washing on to shore will surely melt away all of the 9 to 5 stress you have in your body. The home comes equipped with just about anything you would need to fulfill your time in paradise. On the coffee table lies a giant organized binder with loads of pamphlets, maps, menus, and ideas for you to soak up before you start your adventures. We found it extremely helpful and it made deciding on what to do a lot easier. To be totally honest you might not want to leave the house. The close proximity to many beaches, breathtaking views and spectacular restaurants will make that hard though. We were married, deeply relaxed, went on adventures, ate some of the best food in the world, and stayed in a beautiful home. I can truly say without a doubt that this was the best week of our lives. Mahalo! Troy and Janice for opening your breathtaking home and hearts to us. Do yourself a favor and end your search now. This is where you want to stay.

Amazing Home and Owners!
Mahalo Janice and Troy for showing us the true meaning of the Aloha Spirit! We were personally greeted with a lei, kisses on the cheek, very thoughtful gift basket, welcome note, and resource materials directing us to food and sights. The owners' personal suggestions (born and raised in Hawaii) for food, sights, and practical tips were SO helpful. Even with all of the wonderful Oahu sights they directed us to, the thing that will keep us coming back is this special property itself. Sunrises were spiritual and the sound of the ocean at night was a lullaby. We had to FORCE ourselves to leave this marvelous home every day. I think we would have been perfectly content to just sit on the deck or lounge on the living room couch all day every day and enjoy the magnificent view, sound, smell, temperature - everything! We had plenty of privacy and felt like we were in our own little world. As much as we enjoyed our time on Maui before arriving on Oahu, we almost would have rather just stayed here the whole time. Which is exactly what we are planning to do for our next anniversary trip!

Just what we wanted
We wanted a great view, a place to relax, neat area for exploring and away from the tourist. This was it. The travel tips from Janice and Troy were so helpful. We felt that we could have called on them for any thing. The beach house was so clean. The master bed, very comfortable, along with the sound of the ocean we sleep amazing well. The house has been furnished with everything you could need. We managed well with the small bedroom for the young men, we knew before arriving that it would be a tight fit.

Perfection
Our week-long stay on Oahu was enhanced by staying in this house. • pride in ownership is evident at every turn; very well kept and clean • pride in heritage is shown in personal communication with owners • fantastic gift basket offers the best Oahu has to offer: fruits, nuts, coffee and more • house contains everything you might need: appliances, dishes, beach gear, tons of towels, etc. • quiet neighborhood • fantastic view of ocean AND mountains - doesn't get any better • location is great for exploring north or south • thoughtful HUGE resource book of things to do, places to eat, etc. If it's not there, ask. Owners are happy to share their island. • lanai is beautiful spot to relax; ocean is steps away. No sandy beach, but the beautiful black rocks against the blue ocean is stunning. At low tide, carefully navigate over the rocks to explore what the ocean has left behind. We would 100% return to this house. Go. Experience. Enjoy.

Heavenly Anniversary Getaway
We wanted a quiet place with a deck overlooking the ocean for coffee in the morning & wine in the evening to celebrate our 30th anniversary and we found it! The pictures don't do it justice, the home is very private, quiet, had amazing views, exactly what we needed! Janice & Troy welcomed us with hugs and an amazing basket (with wine, fresh fruit, coffee, cookies, chocolate, nuts), fresh flowers, as well as a personalized wedding anniversary photo & card. They are the perfect landlords and although they might have started as landlords they're now Ohana! They made sure we had information on anything we wanted to do, even told us about a beach for sea turtles (which we found 6 large ones sunning! I have only seen them when scuba diving and was surprised to see 250 lb turtles laying on the beach). Tamura's grocery store was perfect for our needs. Loved Giovanni's shrimp truck. Went twice for shave ice in Haleiwa. Grilled fresh Ahi at the house (yum). The kitchen was well stocked including a rice maker, the king bed was very comfortable, the sound of the surf lulling you to sleep made it heavenly. Spent a day at Waimea Falls Park and enjoyed the farmers market. We saw a monk seal sunning on a beach as we were headed to HNL our last day. The only negative was the fact we had to go back home! Our 9 nights still wasn't enough and I would recommend this hale to anyone looking to relax by the ocean! We're already trying to plan next years trip to Hale O Kalahiki. Mahalo to Janice & Troy (our new cousins) for making our anniversary wonderful!

Amazing Ocean View, Comfortable Home
The view is amazing - ocean views all throughout most of the house. Going to sleep listening to the ocean is very relaxing -- and the sunrises are incredible. We were very comfortable staying here and enjoyed our visit. The house is well taken care of and has everything you could possibly need! It is a short drive (25 min) to the North Shore where we spent most of our time during our visit. The owners are very kind and helpful - and go out of their way to make your stay special. I highly recommend staying here. I'm sure we will be back!

Beauriful stay. We watched the blue moon rise over the ocean, happens only every five years! I hadn't taken a vacation in over 4 years and was hoping for something special. We were very lucky The House of the Rising Sun could have us and it was an experience I will never forget. Sea turtles almost come right up to the deck of the house. I will definitely be staying here again. The owners are really kind and I look forward to seeing them soon. William

The Month of March
Wow, what can we say? This place was everything that the reviews and owner descriptions say. What a fantastic place to spend a month away from our Alaskan winter! Of course it rained for the first 10 days of our vacation, but that does not reflect on this review. It was still better to be in rainy storms at 70+ degrees than in snow and wind at 25 degrees ;-) Troy and Janice are absolutely amazing, allowing us the privacy but being attentive and checking on us during the really big storm. That was awesome! We spent the month at this very well equipped home and the only thing we bought that wasn't already there were a couple of beach chairs, which we left for the next guests. This place was spotless, a wonderful basket of goodies awaited us, we used Janice's activity binder every day. They spent time telling us the best places to eat in the area, etc. I just can't imagine staying anywhere else now when we go to Oahu. Thanks Troy and Janice for a fantastic month away from our way too long and snowy Alaskan winter this year.

Perfect getaway!
My husband and I spent our anniversary at the House of the Rising Sun for our first trip to Hawaii. The owners couldn't have been nicer. As soon as we booked the room, they emailed us different deals based on our interests. They met us at the house and went through the big book (as mentioned in other reviews) with many suggestions of things to do and places to eat. The house was was just as nice as the pictures show--nice vanilla exterior with deck--neighbors weren't there and so it was very quiet . Every window on the back side of the house faces the ocean. It was windy--there is a reason it is called the windward side. The second bedroom was very small, only a trundle bed and pass through to the bathroom--no concern to us as it was just the two of us. The owners left us a beautiful basket with tropical fruit, coffee, macadamia nuts, etc. The house had everything we needed from snorkel equipment, beach towels, coolers, mats, shampoo, even hats! It was nice not to have to bring any of those items with us. The house was located very near the Polynesian Cultural Center and not too far from Shark's Cove for snorkeling. It was fun to wake up in the morning and watch the turtles pop their heads up in the water. There were multitudes of beaches close by. We went to Waikiki one day and felt very lucky that we were NOT staying there. The location of this house is much more remote/homey than Waikiki. Thank you for a lovely retreat!

Relaxing Home Away From Home!
We had a wonderful time on the north shore! We were so content to hang out at the House of the Rising Sun and happy to come home to it after a day out and about. We spent time at all the well known beaches and decided that the beach right up the road (1/2 mile) was our favorite. The water was gorgeous and the beach was completely uncrowded even on the weekends. The house is aptly named -- the sun rises early and floods the house with morning light. Our mornings drinking coffee and eating breakfast on the deck couldn't have been nicer. The house was super clean, well appointed and supplied with many extra amenities like fresh fruit, Hawaiin coffee and snacks, beach towels, boogie boards, toiletries and plenty of paper towels, tp, soap, etc. The king bed was extremely comfortable, and we slept very well. I had to make 3 trips into Honolulu during our stay to take care of family business, and I could feel my blood pressure dropping and the stress melting as soon as I got onto the Kamehameha Highway which follows the coast all the way around the top of the island. Hauula is not a tourist destination, and we enjoyed eating with the locals at PapaOle's regularly and buying groceries at the market -- both of which are a short walk from the house. Excursions to Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Haliewa and Kailua were easy drives and really enjoyable too. Troy and Janice were excellent hosts and we appreciate their attention to detail and warmth!

Our 1st trip to Hawaii
Janice and Troy are so welcoming and their beach house is a great vacation get away. The location is set back in a somewhat quiet little neighborhood and the ocean view is spectacular! We now know why it's call the House of the Rising Sun. There is a lot to do in the area. Beautiful sandy beaches and great food are within walking distance or a short drive in either direction. The drive to Waikiki is a good hour (without traffic) and the opposite direction is about a 30 minute drive to Haleiwa. That's where we saw surfers, Green Sea Turtles and was a great place to relax on the beach or snorkel. Being that this was our first trip to Hawaii we don't have anything to compare, but would highly recommend staying here! Note the house is small, which is perfect for a couple or a couple with a small child. The cleanliness of the property was by far impressive and the house is stocked with just about anything you might have forgotten. As mentioned the house is right on the beach...You cannot get much closer to the sun. Mahalo, Janice and Troy. You have created a wonderful home away from home.
