About this property

The perfect vacation cabin for families. Directly on the river.

Situated on the beautiful Nottely River, you will find our cabin a relaxing escape.

It will accommodate 6 guests, but not more than 4 adults (an adult for us is anyone over the age of 16). The rental agreement stipulates the number of guests allowed at the cabin and our policy on pets. During the booking process you will have the option to download the Rental Agreement. Make sure to download it and READ it before finalizing the booking of the cabin.

The cabin offers privacy with spectacular views of the Nantahala National Forest and the river. It is located at the end of the road on the river and abuts the forest. The 2 mile drive back to the cabin through the canopy of trees is something you'll remember and enjoy.

Views from the wrap-around screened porch are beautiful. Open the French doors in the master bedroom for the relaxing sounds of the river at night and great views during the day. Evenings by the campfire can produce some very fun and memorable moments. You can also step off the bank and test your skills in the river that is home to a variety of fish including browns, rainbows and native brookies. You'll be amazed at the pristine setting and you will likely be the only person(s) on the river.

Look through all the photos and also look at the posted video. You'll get a very good idea of what the cabin, river and forest are like.

For those who enjoy a more active vacation, there's golfing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, boating, horseback riding, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and ATV trails, all within a few minutes drive of this quiet retreat on the river. You can put your kayak in up river from the cabin on the 'release' and enjoy a fun 20 minute ride back to the cabin, or just tube the river when not on the release and enjoy an hour and a half ride back to the cabin.

It’s secluded, yet convenient. Although we’re at the 'end of the road', it’s only a short ten to fifteen minute drive to Murphy, the center of everything in this part of Western North Carolina! Located between the Ocoee River in Tennessee, and the Nantahala River in North Carolina where whitewater Olympic contenders have trained. Here you will find a town reminiscent of days gone by with a very walkable main street with enough cafes, restaurants, and shops to keep you interested. Side-by-side flea markets close by on weekends, a flea market in the city on Tuesdays, and even a downtown farmers market on Saturdays. This is just a beautiful area to travel the back roads and create your own adventure!

Drive the Cherohala Skyway (rivals the Blue Ridge Parkway for unobstructed long-range views). Ride the 'Tail of the Dragon' through Deal's Gap. Visit the Joyce Kilmore Memorial Forest or the John Campbell Folk School for classes in folk art, crafts, contra-dancing, blacksmithing, bluegrass music, etc. Or just take a drive through a country-side replete with post card views.

Daytrips: Blue Ridge, Georgia has wonderful downtown shops and you must visit the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant for a wonderful meal.

Ellijay, Georgia - is the Apple Capital of Georgia - travel along Highway 52 to visit apple barns. Close by is Amicalola Falls - 729 feet of waterfalls, the largest east of the Mississippi.

Dahlonega, Georgia - has shopping at its best and home of The Smith House - a family-style restaurant that is awesome!

Cherokee, North Carolina - has the casino and you can trout fish on the Cherokee reservation land for a nominal price.

Asheville, North Carolina - home of The Biltmore House that is a must see!

Bryson City, North Carolina - Make reservations through Great Smoky Mountain Railroad for a beautiful trip along the Nantahala River and visit the River's End Restaurant for great food.

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee - visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, as well as many outlet stores. Gatlinburg has the seven mile loop full of craft stores.

Outstanding Stay
This is the second time we have stayed here. It's wonderful, love the screened porch overlooking babbling river. So relaxing listening to the river and watching the geese next door. Perfect location for day trips.

Amazing Riverfront Home
If your looking for somewhere quite to relax and reset, this is definitely the place. My husband and i brought our two grandsons, 6 and 11 years old. They both loved the river and the mountains. The sound of the river is amazing and so relaxing. We had bon fires, hikes in the woods. The house is so cozy and very clean. You do have to go up and down the stairs to get in the house. We would highly recommend this location.

Quiet Time by the Wonderful River
We had a wonderful time, excellent weather, perfect accommodations and an outstanding location. We enjoyed the quiet time listening to the river. Loved our cell phones not working unless you when to the end of the driveway maybe or going to town. Email and texting still work on the Wi-Fi, but I did not tell my office workers this, we're on vacation. Overall Rating on a scale of 1 to 5 above I scored 5 but it should have been 10 just so you know how outstanding this property is. We did see two deer coming the river for a drink one day in the early evening.

Clean, Comfortable, Peaceful
Almost a week before our departure we received directions to the cabin and instructions for our stay. We appreciated the information up front for planning purposes. When we arrived, my husband and I found this home to be very clean throughout, and extremely comfortable. The kitchen had all the dishes and cookware that we needed to cook our breakfast and supper each day, and after being out and about during the days, we enjoyed our peaceful evenings by the river. We fully recommend this rental.

Relaxing
Great communication with host! The pictures don't do justice to how close the water is.. The nights were cool, so we were able to turn a/c off, and since porch is screened in, open the door and sleep in the super comfy bed with the sound of the river RIGHT THERE. Loved the firepit (brought wood, but also gathered plenty from the woods.) Will hopefully get to stay here again.

Twice the Enjoyment
This was our second stay at this awesome property. We stumbled across this place two years ago and when we were considering where to take a family vacation this summer, the vote was unanimously "the River house." That says something when my wife frequently reminds me the world is too big to go anywhere twice. Not much has changed since our last stay -- and I mean that in the best of ways. It's still quiet - only the sound of the river. The river is great for kids to play in (though we did see two snakes this time around). There's an opportunity to see wildlife (we saw deer and a bald eagle). It's close enough to conveniences and sites without being in the thick of it. The house and property are well maintained and provide everything you need to enjoy some R&R. We chose this house for all these reasons. We needed to rest and relax and it provided it in spades. We are so thankful to the Rozels for letting us stay once again. I don't know if we'll make it back to Murphy (again, the world is big), but this will always be top of our list of places to stay and has given us lifelong memories.

Relaxing and beautiful
We had a wonderful stay in this vacation home. The screened porch was perfect for meals and playing games while listening to the river. The water was cold but it was fun to go in and cool off. We even took the tubes down the river a couple of times. It is more fun when the water is up but be sure to work your way close to the shoreline as to not float past the house. So much fun and we apprecite the quick communication when we left something behind!

What a view! Great Stay.
Stayed early July 2024 From the moment we opened the door it felt like home. The home, very well appointed, the furnishings were beautiful, comfortable, the place very neat and clean. We loved the wrap-around, screened-in, deck. we spent a lot of time out there, playing games, listening to the river, listening to the birds and not being bugs by flies. Also, some VRBO's we have stayed in don't have room in the kitchen to put your own items and the kitchenware looks like it was purchased at the dollar store, but not this place. Great cookware! And there is plenty of room to store your stuff, both in the kitchen and the bedroom closets are big enough that you could almost throw a party in there. All-in-all, the house is spacious, comfortable, beautiful, in a very restful setting. Fishing, well, not even a nibble, but a guy staying at another cabin said he caught 10 trout, so, fish are out there, we just didn't find them. I think you will be very satisfied at this VRBO. The host is quick to respond and very kind and friendly. Just one final note, please keep in mind, this place has stairs, so, lugging all your coolers, bags, suitcases, up the steep stairs can be a bit difficult if you are not a youngin', just sayin'. Enjoy!!!

Dad and his school age boys' getaway trip
Me(dad) and my four boys just wanted a boys trip to spend some time together. We had a great time. We had no luck fishing out back but it was a great view and the boys loved playing in the water. Plenty of great fishing within minutes.

Father & Sons Retreat
Booked this cabin for my father (67 from IL), brother (35 lives in Chattanooga), & myself (37 living in Mebane, NC) for a relaxed nature retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! We loved the 2 mile dirt road drive back to this tranquil, end of the road, riverside cabin. We spent most of our time fishing on the river and hanging out around the campfire. We enjoyed a few of the recommended spots for food nearby when we did venture out. Got a ton of gorgeous pictures. Didn't catch too much, but we did get a few small trout, caught a giant salamander, & had plenty of nibbles. The water here is so clean & clear that we could see the riverbed consistently, and we even spotted several Big Boy Trout swimming around (unfortunately the Big ones didn't take our bait lol). Perfect setting to relax, catch up, and share some quality time in person with us all living in different states at this point in our lives. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for beautiful scenery and peaceful retreat. The cabin itself is very clean, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, and well stocked with all the cookware/plates/cups/utensils available for use. Brantz is awesome with communication, and a really cool touch is there are complimentary cards featuring pictures of the views from this cabin as well as a guestbook where you can leave a note! Thank you Brantz!

Relaxing location
The home was warm and welcoming. Very clean, and the owner was extremely helpful, and quick to respond to messages and questions. The property overlooks the river which was very relaxing. No luck in fishing, but a bad of fishing is better than a good day at work. The kids enjoyed the property, chilling at the camp fire by the river. All in all, needed the rest, and this area definitely gave me that. Thank you Branzt and family for inviting us to your home.

Relaxing and comfortable cabin
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It had all the comforts of home, and was very clean and well-maintained. The river is the best part. It was too cold in March for water activities, but we enjoyed just sitting and listening to the river and being in nature. We enjoyed hanging out at the cabin so much we only left one time while we were there. We cooked and grilled all our meals, and there were enough supplies to make this an easy task. Highly recommend.

Christmas get away
Loved our after Christmas get away with family. It was a bit cold while we were there but we still got some fishing in. Very quiet and just what we needed after a rough year. The road in takes about 10-15 to get down so you may want to make sure to bring in enough food. We only left once while we were there. The cabin was clean and so cute.

The best location
Our stay at this property was absolutely perfect. The location right on the river was absolutely perfect.
