About this property

Serenity of the Lake

This quaint and cozy cottage is situated in the quiet and beautiful New Hampshire countryside making it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage shares approximately 33 acres with our classic New England farmhouse. It is located roughly 100 feet from the house and around 200 feet from our privately owned sandy beach on peaceful Lake Winona. The next closest neighbor in any direction lives around 500 feet away. A country road divides our property in two with the house and cottage on one side and the lakefront and beach on the other. However, the traffic is minimal because we are located in a very rural area. The beach is a brief walk across the street and down a modest hill from the cabin. A limited, but beautiful, view of the surrounding mountains and the lake is visible from the cottage porch.

Wonderful, refreshing, and a great host

Bruce is a six star host and we loved the location, the cabin, and the beach on the lake. Bruce was very thoughtful, showing us the trails around the house and even bringing out toys for the small children of the family who visited us one day. The cabin is across the road from the beach, but the road has little traffic except for perhaps an hour in the morning. We highly recommend the place in every respect.

York Farm...a little slice of heaven!

I can't say enough good things about this lovely property and its' incredible owner and thoughtful caretaker, Bruce. From the check in call days beforehand, to be sure I had what I needed, to the warm welcome when I arrived, it was true delight. The property itself is meticulously kept and seems to go on forever. The lake is right across the street and down the hill and is one of the most serene places I have ever visited. The cottage itself is rustic but well-equipped and was sparkling clean when I got there, which was very much appreciated. The screened-in front porch was a peaceful respite in any weather, the bed was super comfortable, and I truly can't wait to go back!

Your Own Beach on Pristine and Quiet Lake Winona

We could not have asked for a better or more helpful host than Bruce. He greeted us shortly after our arrival for a week’s stay. The cabin was very amenable for two people. Bruce help transport our kayaks across the road and down to his beach where he assured us that they could be safely stored there. What a joy to wander down and quickly put the boats in the water any time we liked! The sand was nice and the beach was complimented by a dock from shore, a floating dock, and a sitting area separate from the beach sand. The water in Lake Winona is crystal clear and teaming with fish and loons. We saw an immature eagle as well. The road may be a tiny drawback for some folks. It is loud at times but we found it to be a minor obstacle to our overall enjoyment on Bruce’s property. We would certainly return for a visit. Bruce certainly deserves the moniker of “Super Host.”

The Greatest!

The property is exactly as presented and just what we wanted -- a place off the beaten path. The owner made a small beach at the lake across the street, with a dock and a raft. We used it every day and it's made our stay a real treat. Bruce is the Perfect host - professional, conscientious. and truly knows the area. First 3 days were 95 degrees, so bring a fan, but the nights cooled down. One of us thought a air-conditioner and a queen-size bed would make the property more rentable. I told her, an air conditioner in New Hampshire Lake District is the least of their worries!

Peaceful cottage on the lake

We loved our week here. The cottage was cute & cozy with all the necessities - kitchenware, sheets and towels, etc. Everything was clean and so well maintained. The front porch was the perfect place to enjoy our morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Bruce is a wonderful host and goes out of his way to make you feel at home. We enjoyed walking down to the lake to swim, kayak or just sit and enjoy the scenery. Thank you Bruce for a wonderful stay. We look forward to coming back for another visit!

Ideal location, great host, perfect romantic getaway

We're so happy to have found this delightful lake-view cabin, close to both the White Mountains and the attractions of the lakes region. Our 3 day stay was a real treat, and owner Bruce couldn't have been more hospitable or attentive to our needs and interests!

Peaceful, relaxing, private, serene, and just completely gorgeous. The cabin is very neat and clean with everything you need and plenty of room for two. Bruce, the owner, is a wonderful host and just seemed like an all around great guy. He was very helpful and went out of his way to make we had everything we needed. LAKE WINONA WOWZAH !!!

What an adorable little camp. It has everything you need and some. Very charming on the inside and adequately furnished for your needs for a get away. If you love the Lake Life and Nature this is the place to be. The owner Bruce was Amazing and very accommodating to our needs. The Lake is Gorgeous and the beach was spectacular. We kayaked, fished, had a fire down on the beach and got to experience a pair of Loons swimming and singing to us daily. At night, the sounds of the Peepers was just what we needed to fall asleep to. We will definitely be going back soon !!!

Not what we expected!

The cabin is located right next to the main house, seperated only by the paved driveway, so there is no seclusion or privacy. The "country road" you need to cross to get to the water is actually a well travelled two lane blacktop. The "screened porch" was filled with mosquitos when we arrived, due to the open gaps at both top and bottom. Once inside we went to hang our jackets on the wall hooks behind the door, only to see multiple spiders scatter from said hooks! Upon closer inspection of the cabin we found cobwebs and spiderwebs galore (walls & ceilings), mildew on the shower curtain, and a dirty stove top. On top of that, the bed was so short that even with my head firmly up against the headboard, my feet extended out over the foot board! I am tall, at 6' 4"......but, really? On a positve note, Bruce seemed very nice and pleasant over the phone, which, other than e-mail was our only contact with him. We loaded our stuff back up and left that same evening. Quite a letdown from what we expected after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures.

Enjoyed the beautiful serenity...

Just what we needed. The cabin was small and had the basic necessities. Used the oven and charcoal grill for kabobs. Beautiful lake Winona was amazing! We used Bruce's kayak twice. Weather was phenomenal day after day. Bruce was a great host, respected privacy, but closeby if needed. Cabin was approximately 1/2 hour from Laconia and surrounding towns...enjoyed our stay immensely!

A sojourn and sequester... breathtaking beauty.

This little place was a perfect getaway with everything I needed to clear out the mental clutter and appreciate the moment. The cottage is cozy and functional. I loved the screened-in porch, particularly during a fantastic thunderstorm one night. Lake Winona provided masterful sunsets almost every night and a canvas above for millions of starts. The dragonflies and then fireflies danced all round. With an impeccably manicured private beach, a kayak and a fire pit, evenings were magical. Bruce the proprietor has a sharp eye for gorgeous granite sculpture and landscaped beauty that is in harmony with the wildness of nature. He is also a fabulous host, so knowledgable about the surrounding area and a great person to talk to around the fire pit. At the same time he is so respectful of your space and privacy. I will definitely be back because one day, I want to take his John Deere tractor out for a spin!!! I loved the hiking and easy access to Squam Lake and the other incredible sites in the White Mountains.

Peaceful getaway from it all

This was our second stay at Bruce's place and it was as amazing as we remembered. The surroundings are just superb - we absolutely adore the private beach & the kayaks are great to explore the lake with its islands. The docks are also really nice - perfect for a morning yoga session! Everything you need for a peaceful getaway... We can't wait to return - thanks Bruce! Carolyne & Brian
