About this property

Historic Hudson Valley 1850 Brick Home

Come unwind in this newly renovated and lovingly maintained 1850 brick house. Although modernized, you will find vestiges from many different eras. This 2 bed/2bath home also includes a full kitchen, formal dining room, living room, sun room, and 2 dedicated work stations. Centrally located just a 5-10 minute walk from Main St Saugerties and 5-10 minute drive to various grocery stores yet centrally located enough to Catskills, Hudson, Woodstock, and Kingston. Come and relax - you deserve it!

This single family home is situated perfectly between major attractions in the Hudson Valley. Enjoy the different vibes from every single room from the kitchen to the restroom. The house is located on the street and has a large semi-fenced backyard. Start a bonfire, gather around, and enjoy the warmth and glow of the flames. The kitchen is newly and personally renovated and has all standard appliances, coffee maker, pots/pans, sharp knives, and stocked with seasonings. It’s easy to make a homemade meal in this fully functional kitchen and then share the meal in a proper dining room. The multipurpose room serves as a mud room, sun room, office, and lounge, so it’s up to how you’d like to use it! Gather around the TV in the living room for movie night or spend time playing games together. There’s plenty of board games to play. Finally, unwind in the two bedrooms upstairs. One room does contain two queen beds, which makes sleepovers even more fun!

You will find yourself at a walkable distance to many attractions in Saugerties including Main/Partition Street, HUTS, Diamond Mills, Esopus Creek, and the Saugerties Lighthouse. Enjoy being able to walk to restaurants or go on a quick coffee run. Saugerties is also centrally located between the cities of Catskill, Hudson, Woodstock, and Kingston and the great outdoor attractions of the Catskill Mountains, Hudson River, Hunter Ski Resort and the Ashokan Reservoir.

wonderful stay! (disabled person pov)

Lovely stay at the Historic Hudson Valley home. The property owner was SO responsive (literally minutes) to our questions. His home was beautifully designed and cozy for a fall weekend. Great heating. Both bathrooms have accessibility bars for those who need them. If you are disabled & have mobility issues, the stairs are steep & may be difficult to manage. However, there's an air mattress in one of the bedrooms that could be used on the lower floor. Making one of the downstairs rooms a lounge/sleeping room could greatly improve accessibility, esp given how accessible the bathrooms are. Given the entrance steps, would not recommend this to a full-time or ambulatory wheelchair user. But the rooms are large enough to accommodate rollators, etc. A few things that could help the space (from a woman's pov - please don't take this as an insult! These recommendations could improve coziness): - bedside table lights would make the bedrooms easier to navigate once overhead lights are turned off & encourage bedtime reading, esp if someone forgot to pack a book light - cozy blanket throws for the couch. The couch is incredibly comfy and cozy but the lack of soft throws had my friend & me curled under oversized throw pillows - Warmer/heavier duvets/bedspreads. Sheets are nice, especially for a short-term rental, however, the bedspread is rather thin, as were the provided blankets. Overall, this place is splendid. SO warm & cozy. Loved it. Such potential as a rare accessible stay!!

Not a great experience

Lipstick on a pig. This property is old and run down and has had only superficial improvements. Years of accumulated grime were inexplicably left uncleaned and visible on doors and handles. The WiFi was unreliable and this really was an issue since cell phone coverage is so spotty. Our check in experience was miserable because the owner had changed the procedure and hadn't bothered to update the instructions on the website. initially he couldn't be reached and customer service could not help. Waited for nearly an hour in the dark outside the property for him to finally assist us in getting access.

Convenient house in Saugerties

We enjoyed our stay. The house was simple, but tidy and convenient to downtown Saugerties and HITS.

As advertised

Easy to find and great little house. We were very comfortable for the weekend we stayed. When we had a minor issue the host was very responsive.

Historic home

The house is cute and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, however the AC/electrical breaker situation was causing some problems. Alex was easy to reach and available whenever we needed. Location was also convenient.

Perfect stay in the Hudson Valley

We stayed here for a fall weekend and had a fantastic time. Kitchen and living areas were amazing, the beds were very comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet despite the age of the house. Doors could use some upgrades maybe, but everything looked just like the photos and there were even ripe pears in the backyard! Getting into the house was an adventure, the instructions to find the lockbox aren't great and the door lock itself was prone to stick and hard to open with the key so I ended up trying all 3 doors more than once before I could get inside. A very easy walk to downtown Saugerties where we grabbed coffees, chocolates, books, and dinner a couple of the nights when we didn't eat in - all located in a cute older neighborhood. Overall a great find!
