About this property

The Little Blue Farmhouse on the Mendocino Coast

The Little Blue Farmhouse is a perfect escape for anyone looking for a peaceful visit to the Mendocino Coast. The house, built from old growth redwoods between 1862 & 1868 , will take you back in time...to a time when the Caspar Lumber Company was in full swing and Caspar was a booming community. Caspar is an incredibly friendly and inviting community today. Walk to Jug Handle Beach, Caspar Beach and the very accessible Caspar Headlands. The sounds of nearby sea lions are delightful!

The house has been recently renovated with intention to keep the rustic/historic feel of the home. The kitchen is appointed for cooks (All Clad pots/pans and so much more).

There, likely, won't be cell service available at the house (readily available in town - either Mendocino or Fort Bragg), but the Starlink wifi is strong! We do not have a TV, but we have a high quality projector for watching movies provided (we have an extensive collection to choose from) or streaming your Netflix, hulu, etc.

The wood burning stove is the main source of heat in the house. There is a wall heater in the kitchen and bathroom for your convenience. You will need to be comfortable lighting a fire for heat in the main portion of the house. We will provide firewood for your visit and instructions about how to build the best fire (in case you need some tips).

We have a sensitive septic system and well (especially with the drought). We do not allow more than four guests at a time for this reason. Please be respectful of these limitations - it is for the health of our property.

We Were Reluctant to Go Home

We spent a considerable amount of time looking for a place to stay where a couple, me and my 88 year old mom could all comfortably stay. 1. No stairs. 2. Quiet location. 3. Well appointed kitchen. We thought the Little Blue Farmhouse in Caspar ticked all the boxes so we booked it. Once we got there we just kept marveling at how it surpassed our expectations. The kitchen had tools you never see in a rental. The bathroom was wonderful. The house stayed cool/warm depending on what you want. Caspar is a great little community and now has a new restaurant. My mom just kept saying, "You can leave, I'm staying here." The garden was full of hummingbirds and bumblebees as a bonus.
