About this property

The Happiness House-French Qtrs & JazzFest ~1 mile

Be among the first on VRBO to take advantage of this well-established 5-star listing on other popular sites while it is deeply discounted here as a brand new listing! Rest assured of your booking as your hosts are Premier Partners with a stellar track record. Our Happiness House is well situated close to the French Quarter, Jazz Fest/Fair Grounds, Frenchmen Street, Esplanade Ave, and the beautiful City Park. This is the heart of New Orleans' best attractions, while anchored in a historic Creole neighborhood that has an authentic atmosphere of southern warmth amidst a colorful sampling of New Orleans' architecture. Newly renovated, the house is in the city's historic landmark district. Great place for couples, groups, business travelers, and families with kids.
The space
The elevation of the house combined with the open concept floor plan and high ceilings give it an extremely light-filled spaciousness. In typical New Orleans style, The Happiness House is made for entertaining and spending quality time with family and friends. There are five unique gathering spaces to relax and enjoy each others company in these spacious 2500 sq feet - the living room, the kitchen, the dining room, and the front porch. On the other hand, the large master bedroom (800 sq ft) is a separate wing of the house also with its own living room area and flat screen TV, so getting some quiet time in a more private setting is always an option. The door adjoining the main house to the catwalk leading to the master bedroom can be locked from the inside of the main house so that any guests using an air mattress in the living room can effectively close off the space as one over-sized bedroom - same goes for the master bedroom. In short, The Happiness House offers a lot of flexibility all in a beautiful setting that is designed for total comfort and togetherness with plenty of room for everyone to find their very own happy place.
Guest access
You will have access to the Wi-Fi, cable, smart TV (with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, the works on both flat screens TVs), full kitchen with new appliances, and the washer/dryer unit.
Other things to note
The Happiness House is a typical raised New Orleans house with the main house on the 2nd floor which requires stairs. All guests should be comfortable climbing approximately nine stairs to enter the house.

In addition to the king-sized bed in the master bedroom suite, there is a queen-sized bed in the 2nd bedroom, a queen-sized bed in the 3rd bedroom, an over-sized twin daybed in the living room, AND a separate wide sofa both very comfortable for sleeping in the living room. The living room can be completely closed off from the master bedroom suite wing providing total privacy to any guests in the living room area.

Excellent

This is a beautiful home with lots of charm. Everything we needed was available and the location was quite nice. The neighborhood was very nice, those who say it is kind of sketchy have probably never been to NOLA before.

Great friend trip to new orleans

Stayed here for a weekend with music loving friends. Close to French quarter. Very clean and fun space. Wish we could have used the outdoor patio because it was so cute. It was too cold when we went (the weekend before the crazy storm of 2025). We will 100% stay here again.

Feeling happy in Happiness House!

We had a wonderful stay in the Happiness House. Everything was just as promoted in the VRBO posting. The home was well stocked, clean, beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our space. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very accommodating. There were 5 of us on a "girls trip" to NOLA and we felt safe and secure in Happiness House. 5 Stars from us!

A Great Birthday Celebration!

Our stay at the Happiness House was ideal. The house was spotless and very comfortable. We used Uber for most of our transport. Aminata was a text away with any answer and/or information we requested. Thank you! We hope to return sometime soon!

Big Fun in NOLA!

Our group of women had a fabulous stay at the Happiness House! We visited most of the main attractions and were so glad to return to the house each evening. Aminata and Ben are the perfect hosts. They filled their home with cozy, comfortable furniture and eclectic decor. There were beds, linens, and towels for everyone, as well as plentiful kitchen supplies. And the front porch was perfect for morning coffee. We will be back!! The Ya-Yas

Nola for the first time

Absolutely amazing! We didn’t want to leave. The hosts were so attentive that when asked where coffee filters might be they actually brought us some and left it on the porch. The only issue we had was parking but that was only an issue during a parade which is to be expected. I can’t think of a negative thing to say. Loved it and would stay again.

Location, Location, Location!

My family of 5 enjoyed staying at this gem of a property for 3 nights. There were many positives but by far I would have to say its location. We loved being in a vibrant neighborhood that was quite peaceful, wasn't overrun with tourists, yet very close to the popular tourist attractions (French Quarter, Cafe Du Monde, Bourbon Street, Aquarium, etc). The kids enjoyed seeing the classic New Orleans style colorful homes and actual shotgun houses as we walked to the coffee shop. There was a binder with plenty of local recommendations and we also got a few tips from a friendly neighbor. Street parking was plentiful and check-in and out were easy and did not require a lot. The house was clean and all the appliances we used were in working order. We can't wait to return to NOLA and stay here again!

Perfect!!!!

Our stay at Happiness House could not have been any better. The house was beautifully decorated, comfortable, every amenity you could want or need & then some, and a great location. Also, spotlessly clean! Aminata and Ben were welcoming, attentive, always got back to us with every question, and very interested in us having a great stay. We were 3 couples, and all felt that we had loads of room and lots of common space. Felt completely comfortable walking around the neighborhood, to Fest and to the French Market. Walked during the day, took Ubers at night. Looking forward to staying again for next years' Jazz Fest and any time we may come to New Orleans before then. Thank you Aminata & Ben!!!!

Fantastic Home

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Happiness House. We can't express enough how Immaculate the cleanliness of this home is as well as comfort. We had five adults and had plenty of room to socialize. The owners provided many amenities and a book full of suggestions of places to visit and eat. We didn't have a need for the kitchen except for morning coffee but the kitchen contains everything anyone would need to prepare meals. Plenty of dishware, cups, glasses, spices, etc. The basket of snacks was a warm welcome upon our late night arrival. The communication with the owners was fabulous and so helpful at all times. Convenient free street parking at the house and Ubers were always there under five minutes at all times of day and night.

About the host

Host profile image
Aminata: I’ve spent most of my adult life traveling internationally after catching the travel bug as a high school exchange student in France. Africa became my calling during undergrad and after living in Senegal for nearly a year, I went on to complete a year of studies in Ghana and later made Ghana home for five years. During that time I started an African women’s social enterprise and eventually a non-profit to support girls’ education which I still run today. Living abroad for so long and always at the grace of so many kind generous people shaped my outlook on life and what’s really important. After being spoiled by such a different way of being, I was not certain that I could live in the United States long-term but my longing to be near family again made me give it a try. When I came to New Orleans for the first time in 2007, I knew that this was the city for me. So much of what I loved about the people and lifestyle of West Africa is exactly what makes New Orleans the special place that it is. I moved to New Orleans in 2008 and I have been deeply in love with the city ever since. I know that it is no accident that I now have a beautiful home to host others in a city that calls people from all over the world.

Ben: I was born and raised in New Orleans, growing up from the Treme to the 7th Ward. I've performed nationally and locally for the past 20+ years as a music artist with seven studio albums recorded in New Orleans, Jamaica, and Los Angeles. Having grown up in this historic neighborhood, it's fascinating to witness the transformation of a place that has such deep roots in the entire fabric of New Orleans' music history. It is a pleasure to introduce a wide range of people from all over the country and the world to our great city and this beautifully unique neighborhood. Our home is truly filled with love and joy and a lust for life that we look forward to sharing with you!
