About this property

The Cottage on Sunset Ridge

If you are considering anywhere near Camden Maine and you are a couple or small family this is your ultimate spot. Located just minutes from The Historic Camden Downtown Harborfront with centuries old history. Take advantage of the abundance of restaurants fine dining, casual spots, or the old school "Lobsta Shacks" featuring the famous Maine Lobster Roll. Enjoy a stroll throughout the Camden Harbor area where many quaint shops line the streets. Get to really appreciate the historical culture of Penobscot Bay by taking a day ferry to visit multiple islands such as Isleaboro or Vinalhaven. The cottage is also a short distance from a fully stocked Hannaford Supermarket or Megunticook Market. The cottage is also within walking distance to the Snowball Ski Center. This local jewel offers skiing and snowboarding trails for the day or night enthusiasts. During the spring, summer or fall check out the hiking trails or take the chairlift ride to see the stunning views of the ocean from the top of the mountain. "The only ski mountain on the east coast with views of the Atlantic Ocean!"
The cottage features 2 full baths with one bedroom suite on the second floor. We have a 3 season room on the first floor which has a sofa bed for extra guests to sleep. What makes the cottage extra special is our outdoor living areas which present many opportunities to be outside in comfort enjoying all of what nature has to offer. In the rear area of the house we have an outcrop of huge boulders with the rock formation climbing to 400 feet. This is great climbing although it is some difficult terrain. Whether you are up for a hiking adventure or just want to relax and soak up the magnificent rock formation literally out your back door, this is a lovely spot. On the side yard is the sunset patio. The view of Hosmer Pond is absolutely beautiful and mountain ride behind it. The moon shining over the water is another special treat to make your stay even more amazing! Additionally there is a 250 sq ft deck with a grill perfect for entertaining where you and your company can enjoy views of the water, listen to the peaceful sounds of frog croaks and loon cries. You also haver access to our two single person kayaks of which you can explore the entire wildlife sanctuary. If you want to experience the amazing beauty of Maine's Downeast Coast and enjoy our local culture, Sunset Ridge Cottage is the perfect vacation spot for you!

Great location, old house

Great location and very nice deck. We had difficulty with the low ceilings in the upstairs hallway and bathroom. The living room was darker than it looks in the picture. It would be better if there were a bureau in the bedroom for clothes and more cabinet space in the kitchen for food supplies.

Comfortable with great location.

Property was in an excellent location from which one could reach surrounding towns easily and other parks, etc. nice view of lake and excellent nearby swimming . House was fully stocked and was comfortable. In particular, we had several days of rain or heat, and the enclosed porch was a perfect room in which to sit and read during these periods. Both bathrooms are large and good.. Bedroom was comfortable, although the narrow steps leading up to second floor ( about which we were advised) would constitute a problem for individuals who had mobility issues. Would recommend booklet on how to navigate around television ( which we could do, but could not figure out how to get the major channels; the streaming and Roku channels were fine ). Some help could be a booklet explaining about the house and services (the only book was apparently of a prior property manager- when I called, she advised that she no longer managed the property) So I was confused about when and where to put out trash. A washer and dryer would be great, but not critical. All in all, a comfortable and most pleasing property.
