About this property

Family friendly pond-side retreat - Short distance to Bowdoin, beaches, hikes

Imagine taking a step back in time but with all the modern conveniences! This quiet pond-side post-and-beam provides plenty of fresh air and wildlife.

Our beloved family home is just minutes away from the charming village of Brunswick, Bowdoin College, restaurants, and beaches. We provide guests with a list of our favorite spots, including two gorgeous sandy beaches within 30 minutes. This is a great location if you love to kayak, paddleboard or boat - with many spots to put in hand carried boats as well as a boat launch just two minutes down the road.

Since this is our family home, it is furnished and stocked like so. We hope you feel like you're staying at a friend's house. You are welcome to an abundance of spices, condiments, and any dry goods available. We love to cook, so there are plenty of stainless steel pans to make a luxurious and gourmet dinner without having to do dishes in between. We have a high chair, bibs, and a set of kids plates and bowls.

The chef's kitchen opens up to a fireplaced dining room, featuring a long table awaiting a late night card game. A two-story fireplace accents the great room complete with a family-sized sectional and large TV. Hook up to the sonos speakers to make yourself feel at home.

Coffee or cocktails on the screened porch and pond-side fire pit will make lasting memories of your vacation. Each porch overlooks a large swath of lawn, perfect for kiddo play time. The driveway is prime for sidewalk chalk or practicing on the bike.

Each bedroom is peaceful and cozy, with windows peeking into the forest. The house has one pack and play crib for a kiddo, with a mattress topper and sheets. We also provide an audio monitor and sleep machine to help aid nap time.

Our home may be on a dead end road, yet it is only a short walk to the local fresh fish market. They also have great chowder, lobsters and fried seafood dinners.

Wonderful family vacation spot

We had a wonderful week in this house. The owners were so kind and thoughtful with every detail. The house is beautiful; we enjoyed the great family dining and living room areas and took full advantage of the screened in porch. Our kids enjoyed seeing deer, turkeys, and even a porcupine up close. It’s convenient to Brunswick and Bath- a great location! Thank you for a great week!!

Excellent place to stay in Brunswick

John’s house was super comfortable and a peaceful location not far from good restaurants and activities. It is spacious and very well stocked with everything you would need for a long term stay. We were only there a week but would have been happy to stay longer.

A perfect home away from home

We felt instantly at home in John's "cottage." It is comfortable and clean with a ton a privacy. Despite feeling like we were in a remote part of Maine, the house is a short distance from Popham Beach, Bath, and of course, Brunswick. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed morning coffee (and evening cocktails) on the spacious screened-in porch. The well-appointed kitchen allowed us to cook some gourmet meals. We had a marathon bocce game on the huge yard. The giant couch accommodated 5 reclined adults for nighttime movie-viewing. We even got to watch a mother robin feed her babies all week and were treated to seeing the fledglings leave the nest. Since we were visiting Maine from California, we appreciated that there items we could not bring in our luggage: beach towels, beach chairs, and a cooler. And the giant washer and dryer made short work of our mound of dirty laundry. John is an excellent communicator and quick to respond to any inquiries. Our family had a great stay and are already planning next year's visit.

Relaxing and Enjoyable

Convenient to all locations while still being away from town. Beds were very comfortable. Water pressure in bathrooms was very good. Screened in porch and fire pit were a great additions. Homeowner also had 4 beach chairs and an umbrella which worked very well.

Our father, John, lovingly renovated and cared for this home and we would like to share with you. It is our family home, so you will find it to be completely furnished and equipped with high quality furniture, kitchen, linens, etc.

Why they chose this property

This home is perfect for a few couples traveling together or a family with young children. Although it is five minutes away from all the shopping you might need, once you are "home" it is quiet and relaxing. We like to think of it as the best of both worlds. You can be back on the highway in minutes, but feel like you're tucked away in the woods.

What makes this property unique

Quiet and relaxing. A short drive to some of coastal Maine's best assets - fresh seafood, beaches, the charming village of Brunswick and it's restaurants. Brunswick is immediately next to Freeport, home of LL Bean and a plethora of shopping. This is a great location from which to access hiking, fishing, and all that midcoast Maine has to offer.
