The house was wonderful and the host was great to interact with. The views were beautiful. There was a bald eagle on the rocks in front of the house almost every morning. Would stay there again.
Clean, comfortable and well-equipped house on the bay. Great short hikes within easy walking distance from the front door, good roads for cycling, and nice views just from walking along the bay. Traveling with an elderly parent, we could get out for a couple of hours at a time and leave Dad napping in the chair, yet also spend time with him just sitting, reading books and all the while watching the water. So relaxing.
We had a wonderful stay. Lovely home, beautiful views, great biking and hiking. The lovely home had everything a person would including a Telescope for viewing the lovely water . Thank you so much. We hope to be back!
Had a little trouble getting checked in but after that it was perfect
If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. A little far away from stuff but still a nice place to stay. Kathy was a big help and went above and beyond to help us.
We have spent many vacations at Petit Manan but this was our first fall experience & the first in this lovely home. The home was spotless on arrival, well appointed and nicely decorated. The furniture was very comfortable and the view magnificent. We enjoyed reconnecting with family in the neighborhood and our pup enjoyed walking on the shore. We very much hope to return!
First, the house gleamed; never been in a rental property so immaculate. It lacked for nothing: towels, bed linens, cleaning and basic cooking supplies and more. For once, didn’t feel that “I should have brought that.” It’s in a tranquil location, unbelievably quiet. neighbours are friendly, property manager always available and responsive.
Great views of the Pigeon Bay, and access that made kayak launching a breeze. The trail access was terrific: we walked from the house to Petit Manan Refuge where blueberry picking was a delight.
Would definitely recommend this property for a Down-East vacation.
Definitely enjoyed 1155, just a great location for relaxation and tranquility. Nice home, everything newish and functioning. Located on a large bay where morning lobsterman can wake you, but so what. Sometimes fog over bay, that sun would burn off revealing beautiful views. Nice easy hikes nearby to National Wildlife Refugee and Pigeon Hill Preserve Hill. Easy drives to nearby small towns for most needs. Summer traffic in larger towns of Bar Harbor [Acadia NP] and Ellsworth, and no problem finding anything needed there. Weather in mid-July was high 70s low 80s, sunny most days, rain one day. Dog friendly home. Nearby Milbridge has grocery, gas, gift shop, liquor, 44 degrees bar restaurant; knotty lobster lady red trailer eatery, park. Other eateries along Rt 1 towards Milbridge or Ellsworth.
We had an awesome vacation. The house was perfect. Great view from the front window. It was fascinating how fast the fog can roll in and just as quickly roll out. We were blessed with terrific weather - sunny and in low 70's. We enjoyed hiking the Pigeon Hill Preserve. We took trips out to Schoodic Point and saw seals. The older girls did some kayaking. We also went to Bar Harbor and visited Acadia. We hiked Jordan Pond and had tea at Jordan Pond House. Went swimming at Jone's beach and Sandy Cove Beach. We had lobster rolls from the knotty lobster and ice cream from the frosty claw. We did buy groceries in Ellsworth before coming to the house. That was helpful. The house was very relaxing and nice to come home to after very active days. Overall, it was everything we wanted, needed and more. I would definitely go again.
Beautiful location, close to Schoodic Peninsula and Bar Harbor. No many restaurants near by open for dinner and cell phone and internet very limited. Great quiet place to be away city life
We had such a fun time this week - The home is very comfortable and clean and we loved waking up to the beautiful sounds and sights of the water. The surrounding area is beautiful. We loved Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge and Pigeon Hill as well as the area across from Pigeon Hill where we could walk to the water. We also took drives to Schoodic Woods/Acadia as well as the Acadia/Bar Harbor area. Well worth the drive. I, as well as my husband and 3 teens, cannot wait to visit again.
We had a wonderful stay at Mary’s cottage. It was cozy and sparkling clean. Communication was top notch, checkin process super simple.
We particularly enjoyed the location of the house across the street from Pigeon Bay, so we could put in our kayaks (which we brought from home) without having to drive anywhere. The bay is spectacular! There is excellent hiking nearby and if you are adventurous enough and like off the beaten path activities: at Cutler Public Land 1.5 hrs north. We saw incredible see cliffs and views without the Acadia NP. crowds.
In the evening we enjoyed a bonfire out back, and also got a visit from a porcupine who seems to reside nearby, as well as a wonderful neighborhood kitty Merlin.
AAA+ to Mary!
