Excellent place. Four stars because bed was absolutely horrendous. Otherwise, would stay again, with new bed.

Listing Needs Clarification

The area was nice and safe and quiet for the most part. Kids are definitely a part of this area so if you find kids a problem I'd look elsewhere. There are nice quiet times to be had though especially in the evenings when the kids are indoors or heading to bed after an exhausting day on the lake. We took our 2 Border Collies and they had no problem jumping in and out of the lake from the dock near the shore but if you have a dog less athletic you should plan on helping them in and out so bring your water shoes. There is no "beach" type access to the water just a large step down off the dock. The dock is nice and has a nice bench and place to fish from. We caught bluegills galore and a Pike from the dock. We mis-read the ad and thought a boat of some type was included but it is not. I had asked about it prior to booking but never heard back from the host about it. The sleeping arrangements are not at all for 5. It is 1 small bed (maybe a full size or oversized twin) but it was too small for both me and my husband to sleep in and we fit fine in a queen. If there's more than one of you, you'll need a cot or you'll be sleeping in a recliner that doesn't go flat or anything. Be sure to take your own carbon monoxide/smoke detector combo sensor due to the age of the furnace and the ventilation. There are none in the cabin. Don't forget, there's no TV or Wi-Fi so if you want to watch a movie on a rainy day or at night, bring your own monitor to cast to from your phone or tablet.

Quiet Cabin

Check-in was stressful - I called 3 days in advance as I had not received check-in information yet. Property manager answered the phone and said that I would receive 48 hours in advance. I still hadn’t received 2 days in advance, so I called back and she was very flustered, said I would get it, and hung up. I called the day before check-in and she did not answer the phone. I finally received check-in information roughly 6 hours before check-in, by a text message with a link to the brochure and lock box code. She did call to make sure I received it. This was after I contacted VRBO, and they also called, left a message, and emailed. We were driving from 3.5 hours away with 2 kids, so not really knowing if we had a place to stay until that time was not ideal (and had already paid). Other than that, the cabin was good - quiet, great water access, close to Minocqua.

The cutest getaway!

My husband and I stayed at this awesome little cabin for our honeymoon! It was a wonderful getaway after the hectic events of a wedding. Upon arriving, we were pleased to see how clean the "neighborhood" was, and how close the cabin was to the water! The check in process was extremely easy, and the host responded quickly to any questions we had! The interior of the cabin was perfect for 2 people. The living room had a nice reclining couch to enjoy drinks at night and look at the beautiful lake. The bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen were all super comfortable and sweetly decorated to give it a cabiny feel! The neighbors were very kind and gave us lots of ideas to enjoy our week up there even more. The roads surrounding the cabin were quiet and perfect for biking and walking, and the lake was great for fishing too! Overall a great stay! One thing we would recommend is to bring some bag chairs and a fire ring if you want to sit outside as there wasnt a fire pit :)

Former Silver Beach Resort Guests

My family and I rented this cottage after having been guests at the former Silver Beach resort for many years. It was great to be back at the resort. The beach and swimming area is great for a little kids, and the cottage is clean and nicely appointed. We will be back next year. Thank you!

Misrepresented

The location of this property was perfect for where we like to typically stay in the Northwoods. However, the listing for this property is grossly deceptive. The cabin was small, which we were expecting, but the porch was dangerous to walk on as it was loose and rotting. The exterior of the cabin had huge holes at the base on all sides (assuming animals). The dock is loose and the wood ready to break. The listing states it can sleep 5, it barely could sleep two comfortably. My teenage son slept on the full size bed, and I slept on the reclining couch that didn't fully recline. Overall, the property hasn't been maintained in several years and is a roof overhead at best. So disappointed.

Very small and rustic

The cabins are very close together. There isn't any exterior lighting. Adequate for fishermen who plan on spending their time on the water. The pier was easily accessible, but no electrical outlet at the water. The fish cleaning house had no water. This cabin didn't have a fire pit or anywhere to sit outside other than a very small porch. The shower, sheets and towels were very nice.

We brought cots

This cabin worked for us 3 adults. But not sure how it sleeps 5. The pull out was 2 reclining seats. There was a bedroom that sleeps 2. We brought cots for 2 of our party. So glad we did.

Beautiful setting

A cute little cabin that was perfect for my husband and me on a long weekend. We enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning and wine on the dock in the evening. Great hosts were always available for anything we needed.

Absolutely what I needed

I was out and about and spending time outdoors during my stay, so what I needed was a place I could come to and sleep at and be comfortable. The place was more than what I needed. The bathroom was clean and comfortable, the front room and pier were quaint spots to drink my morning coffee. Perfect home base to enjoy the Northwoods
