While we have been hosting guests since 2020 with outstanding reviews elsewhere, we are excited to begin working with VRBO in 2024. Villa Amistad is uniquely located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta in the Cerro/Centro neighborhood just steps away from the most popular activities that Puerto Vallarta has to offer. Easily walk to the Malecon, popular bars, beaches, restaurants, art galleries, and nightclubs just steps from our front door.

Miguel's Mirador at Villa Amistad is grandest 1-bedroom studio suite, located on our top floor. This position affords guests with gorgeous ocean views. The apartment is accessed via its own private spiral staircase leading from the lower shared terrace below to its private entrance. The apartment is one of four located in the Villa. The apartment is private to the guest while sharing common areas such as two shared terraces and the heated saltwater Pool located on the main level below. Similar to a hotel, apartment building, or Condo where you have your private space and share common areas. The apartment and Villa property greets guests with a blend of Mexican modern and traditional Vallartan architecture with walls of warm rich Mexican colors that become serene in the soft evening lights of the Villa. Tropical palms, flowering plants and vines are found throughout the property. The Villa's guests will be surrounded by traditional, indigenous, and one-of-a-kind paintings and folk-art pieces, handcrafted Parota wood furniture and doors created by local artisans, and beautiful Talavera tiles and pottery. The apartment's space includes an ocean facing king bed, a dining table/desk that can seat up to 4 people, seating area, kitchenette, closet space, our largest en-suite bathroom with an enormous 16" rainshower, and a large private ocean facing terrace with lounge chairs and hammock! Experience a home with a Mexican Vibe and all the comforts guests expect in a 21st Century stay. The water at the Villa is filtered and pressurized onsite with endless hot and cold water. Great tasting drinking water is delivered through new pipes and faucets throughout the property reducing plastic water bottle waste and microplastic ingestion. Fill up your reusable water bottles when heading out. Many of our guests say it tastes better than bottled.

The king beds, with plush pillow-top mattresses are appointed in luxury quality 100% cotton Percale linens, extra pillows, and handloom woven blankets from Chiapas. The apartment receives wonderful ocean breezes. There is also a ceiling fan and air conditioning for guest comfort. A wall-to-wall glass door can be opened entirely to create a beautiful indoor/outdoor living space allowing plenty of natural light and refreshing ocean breezes to flow through the apartment. Stay connected with Puerto Vallarta's fastest available WIFI at up to 1Gb(1000Mb/s) speeds throughout the entire property on a state of the art WIFI Mesh 6 network. We even have a secondary internet service provider in the rare event our primary provider should go down. Perfect for guests that must always be connected or work remotely. Miguel's Mirador offers our best ocean views! In the winter months guests love to watch the whales splashing about in Banderas Bay. Miguel's Mirador is serviced by our own full-time staff, making sure the property is well maintained and cleaned during your stay. We replace most of our amenities including fresh coffee from Chiapas, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoos and soaps. Housekeeping is provided daily except for Sundays and major Mexican holidays.

The main Villa is located on two floors, Main and Top floor. The entry level below is where guests enter the property from the street by keyless lock. The entry level is where 2 of our staff reside in a completely separate apartment and where our housekeeping and office are located. The main level above has the 2 shared terraces with large outdoor dining table that seats up to 9 people, lounge chairs, gas BBQ, and our ocean facing, heated, salt-water pool available 24/7. Miguel's Mirador is located on the top floor alongside Ivan's Bella Vista, a 2-bedroom apartment with its own entrance.

The Villa is located in the heart of the original Puerto Vallarta, where the fishing Village was located. Guests are able to walk right out the door to all of the favorite beaches, bars, restaurants, and venues in the Romantic Zone and Centro in minutes. The Malecon boardwalk is only about 4 blocks/5 minute walk from the Villa, and 5 of the top 6 restaurants in Puerto Vallarta are within 5 minutes’ walk. The famous Los Muertos Beach and other beaches are also within walking distance. The heart of the gay nightlife is about 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from the Villa. Nowhere downtown is further than 20 to 25 minutes’ walk away. Uber, taxis and other rideshare services are readily available and very inexpensive. The hosts, who reside about a block away, are available to offer assistance and answer questions, along with the staff, when requested. Having the staff and hosts nearby means that if something should happen, we can respond immediately. Laundry facilities with complimentary detergent, are available onsite and upon request most days from 10AM to 9PM with last load in by 7PM.

The Villa was renovated with a modular design to allow it to be rented whole or as individual apartments. Each apartment is named after a close friend. Ivan's Bella Vista and Miguel's Mirador are located on the top floor. Curiel's Retreat and Jonathan's Lugar are located on the main level. You will see these names in the descriptions and photos of the bedrooms and other areas. Additional amenities not found in the apartments are available upon request, including several beach chairs and a beach umbrella. Our concierge service, Faby, can assist guests with transportation needs and reservations. Guests receive a link to our digital guidebook after booking, with Faby's contact information and all the information you could want about the Villa and suggestions for restaurants, massages, hiking, grocery/shopping, activities, and general information about Puerto Vallarta. Our guests rave about it, and we update it regularly.

Our neighborhood is where Puerto Vallarta began over 100 years ago. The area is a wonderful mix of families that have been here for generations, along with expats, snowbirds, and vacationers. During the winter holidays, the streets below us are filled with nightly processions, Dios de los Muertos and Christmas decorations, and in May, the Pride Parade, only 5 minutes’ walk away. Our guests tell us they love the fact that they can easily go out on the town but, come back to a quiet retreat away from the noise and bustle.

Families with children are welcome and we have hosted many but, we wish to make sure that they know that the home is not childproof and there are known hazards including the pool has a drop-off behind it and no fence or gate. Windows open completely and stairs with no gates. The Villa also contains many easy to break or damage art pieces that cannot be replaced. Please inquire if you have more questions.

NON REFUNDABLE DAMAGE WAIVER

A small non-refundable Damage Waiver fee of $10USD will be included in the total price of the booking at check-out. This small fee is not based on the days booked and is a one time fee that provides the guest a waiver from financial responsibility for accidental, unintentional damage caused by the guest or their visitor during their stay up to $300USD, as long as the cause of the damage or loss is covered in the terms of the Damage Waiver. Complete details and terms are provided in the Rental Agreement, link provided on the booking payment page.

A Security Deposit Credit Hold (what most hotels do when they take your credit card information at check-in) is required to protect against loss and/or damage and to ensure that the Property is left in a reasonable condition of cleanliness, and in the same condition of repair as upon arrival. No money is collected and no transactions are created providing the guest with a convenient and simple method of providing the host a Security Deposit. The protection goes beyond the Damage Waiver protection. A hold is created on the Renter's credit card or debit card approximately 24 hours prior to check-in in the amount of the required Security Deposit. Our system instructs the renter's bank to hold the amount of credit or funds (if a debit card) on the card to insure that the money will be available in the event of damages, debts, or losses incurred. The hold is released no later than 7 days after check-out if no money is due the host. As it is not a transaction, the bank will not accrue interest on the hold amount. Our system will automatically attempt to place a credit hold of either 50% of the booking amount or $500USD, whichever amount is greater on the credit card/debit card currently on file at booking. Most guests prefer this simple method, that hotels already do, instead of providing a cash deposit or charging a card and then needing to refund the cash or card charge after check-out. Guests will be required to provide a cash equivalent amount of the Security Deposit in either USD or MXN before being allowed to check-in if a credit hold is not provided. Please review the terms and description of the Security Deposit Credit Hold in the Rental Agreement. A link is provided prior to paying in the booking window.

Bienvenidos! Welcome! We are Mark and John, two best friends that moved to Puerto Vallarta together in 2018 from the San Francisco Bay Area. We were both looking for a warmer place to live with great restaurants, a fun atmosphere and lots of culture. We decided to give Puerto Vallarta a try and both fell in love with it. The Villa was found by accident and the seed of a dream began. We decided that we both wanted to live and work full-time in Mexico and running our own business would be the best way to make our Mexico dream a reality. On our free time we love to explore the area taking in both Urban and nature hikes. Our favorite place in Puerto Vallarta is the Botanical Gardens with its incredible plants, hiking trails and restaurant. We will never turn down a nice bottle of wine and love to try new foods and restaurants. The sunsets can be jaw dropping and the nightly fireworks that usually happen right in front of us never get old. We look forward to hosting you at our beautiful home in Paradise!

Why they chose this property

The El Cerro/Centro area is full of history and local culture displaying beautiful original homes of Vallartan architecture, where holiday processions take place, and families that have lived here for generations. The neighborhood is shared with expats, snowbirds, and tourists. A vibrant area conveniently walkable to all the popular spots in the Centro/Romantic Zone area yet, set far enough away to offer a peaceful retreat from the noise and bustle.

I found the Villa by accident while walking a friend's dog and saw the for sale sign. The location was perfect, ocean facing with refreshing ocean breezes, and a street with a Mexican feel to it. After a year and a half of intense demolition and renovations, Villa Amistad (Villa of Friendship) was ready. The unique modular redesign allows it to be rented as an entire home or individual apartments. Each apartment named after a close friend of ours.

Miguel's Mirador(lookout), Jonathan's Lugar(Place), Ivan's Bella Vista(Beautiful View), and Curiel's Retreat. The office/housekeeping is Luis's Escondite(hideout), and the staff apartment is Zeferino's Palacio(Palace).

THE CREATION OF VILLA AMISTAD:

Purchased the Spring of 2019, as Villa Pedregoso, it was one of the original large homes in the area and was 4 stories. It was in disrepair and required extensive renovations if it was going to become our home and business. The project took 1.5 years to complete. Walls were opened to provide for better views, walls and ceilings were reinforced. Windows were added and open walls were closed so we could install AC. Soundproofing materials, new plumbing, electrical, a water pressurization and filtration system for clean pure drinking water were installed.

The fourth floor was removed but, 2 large balconies were added to the third floor. A heated, salt water pool was installed. The construction enabled income for about 50 families during the Pandemic. Eventually we hope to build another apartment and/or rooftop terrace on top.

What makes this property unique

We moved out of the Villa in 2023 to an apartment a block away so that 2 of our employees, who lived about 2 hours away, could live at the Villa and not have to commute. Our staff are full-time and our closest friends. Our philosophy is to provide a middleclass wage and better life to our employees and to offer them opportunities that will improve their lives and their families. Our staff have a vested interest in our guest's experience and with us and them close by, we are able to communicate and respond quickly to guest needs or situations. We love to hear guest feedback directly as this gives us an opportunity to gain insight into their experience and to consider new ideas that we wouldn't gain from being absentee owners. We work to be proactive and not reactive in making sure the guest's experience is met or exceeded. Our team meets regularly to discuss improvements, where repairs and maintenance should be performed, and what amenities or services would make stays even better. We make it a point to use local products, promote local small businesses, and give back to our community.

Villa Amistad is one of only a few villas that are located in town and allows guests to walk out the door and easily walk to restaurants, beaches, and other popular spots. Most villas are actually located outside the downtown area or far up extremely steep hillsides requiring rental cars, taxis, or Ubers on a daily basis. Go out and have fun and walk back to a peaceful retreat where you can take in views of incredible sunsets, summer electrical storms, or watch whales splashing about in the winter. Unique amenities we offer include complimentary housekeeping, a heated saltwater pool (rare to find here), great tasting purified drinking water from the tap! Our showers provide endless hot and cold water under pressure!. And probably one of the best features is our central location where all of the popular spots in the Centro or Romantic Zone are only 5 to 25 minutes walk maximum.
