About this property

Trinity Trails: Lone Star Cabin in 6 acres on Lake Aquilla

Trinity Trails Ranch is 24 acres of heaven, located in the heart of Texas. The ranch is nestled between the towns of Whitney and Hillsboro on Lake Aquilla just 45 minutes south of the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex. There is about a mile of dirt roads on the property to explore and view the natural beauty of the woods and observe the wildlife. It’s peaceful, quiet, secluded, and the stars at night light up the sky. We hate to head back home every time we come to enjoy the ranch.

The custom designed ranch house we call our 'cabin' was built in 2008 and is nearly 1400 square feet arranged in a great open floor plan. It is situated on 6 of the acres in Trinity Trails, but you can explore the entire ranch and the 50 acres of Corp land next to the lake.

The master has a King, second bedroom has a queen, and the third has a set of twin beds that can be arranged as bunk beds. There is also a full bed in the loft and a queen sofa sleeper if you need more places to sleep.

Come enjoy the cabin, use the canoe on the lake, fishing off the shore, sitting around the campfire, and making great memories with friends and family in a unique get away that won't be soon forgotten. The cabin is about 150 yards from the shoreline, canoes only 50 yards away with a caddy to make it easy to wheel them to the water.

The incredible fishing on Lake Aquilla is one of the best kept secrets in Texas. It's chalked full of bass, crappie, and channel catfish. And Trinity Trails Ranch is set right next to one of the prime fishing spots. And if water skiing, sailing, or scuba diving is more to your liking, Lake Whitney is just a few miles away and is considered one of the top two lakes in all of Texas.

The cabin is very well equipped. We have Direct TV with a 40' flat screen TV and WIFI internet. A foosball match is always fun! A complete kitchen stocked with all the normal appliances, coffee pot, pots/pans, dishes and glasses, cooking utensils, and a gas grill on the back patio means all you need to bring is groceries.

And as with any place in the country there is a great variety of wildlife to be seen. There are deer, armadillos, wild turkey, the occasional snake, and all kinds of birds...hawks and even bald eagles have stopped by.

Security cameras outside are used only for when unoccupied and verify departure so cleaning can begin. If uncomfortable, feel free to cover with grocery bag while staying...but please uncover when checking out.

Note: Boats can be easily left just inside the front gate as there are so many trees, a couple dips, and turning around with a boat is difficult except at the pasture.

Canoe: Life jackets are provided and must be used at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult when in the canoes.

Just what the Dr. Ordered (only too short)
The property was exactly what we saw on line. Our boys had a blast with the foos ball, fire pit, lake and own rooms. We really didn't need to bring much, most everything was already there. Just wish we could have spent more time there. Only issue was the wind. We were unable to really fish or take the canoe out. Would definately do again!

Private and peaceful
The house was comfy and stocked. The tankless water heater made sure we all had hot showers. My kids enjoyed exploring, chopping wood, fires, and s’mores. Days were windy when we were there but once it died down, we took the canoe out and tried our hand at fishing. It takes some muscle to get the canoe there but we made it and had a good little adventure.

Quaint Country Cabin!!!
Quaint, relaxing, and very peaceful. It was a quiet getaway yet close enough to towns for all your needs. Amenities were great, we were able to be super comfortable. We sat on the front porch and watched all the wildlife at night. Sean has a fantastic place and a beautiful cabin. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Great mini-recharge location
Our family wanted a simple place to stay for a mini vacation so we could unwind and recharge. This was a great spot, deep in the woods, to be able to enjoy the sounds of nature, bright stars, and even hikes down to the lake with some fishing poles.

Fun birthday weekend
There were nine of us total (plus one dog), celebrating our dad’s 80th birthday. Very comfortable, clean, nicely equipped cabin, good appliances, and wonderful space for a campfire. The hike down to the water was a little steeper than anticipated, which made it a bit challenging for walking and hauling gear, but overall we enjoyed our stay very much! Hope to return again sometime soon, possibly checking out some of the other properties.

Fun in the country!
Very nice. House is great. Spacious enough for all 9 of us. Its set back in the woods, nice and quiet. You can hear the birds, see the stars. Lake nearby, short drive for gas, groceries food. Enjoyed cooking out, making smores at the firepit, walking the little trails through the woods. Great family time away from the hustle & bustle.

Peaceful Getaway
Clean, quiet, thoughtful accommodations. Wooded property makes for private enjoyment - hosts provides for numerous outdoor activities with games, swings, & outdoor tables at nice outdoor sites, as well as hiking paths to enjoy and canoeing on the lake was superb! A great opportunity when a respite is sorely needed!

A great get away
The accommodations was excellent. All was very nice and comfortable. Normal living supplies were provided over and beyond what we had expected. The only issue we had was the Internet was intermittent and for the better part of 2 days was completely out. There was some storms in the area so it could be attributed to that. Not catastrophic but inconvenient. All in all we had a good outing.

Wonderful memories
If you want to get away to beautiful surroundings and nature, this is the place. This getaway was a birthday present for our grandson's 16th birthday and he invited some friends. They had a blast! The house was clean and had everything we needed. The firepit was a hit and being right on the lake really topped it off.

Nice Getaway
The cabin was nice, it was in a secluded area close to the lake which made it a perfect getaway weekend for my birthday. We couldn’t use the canoe because it was filled with water from all the rain, which was okay we just sat by the bank of the lake. The cabin does need to be cleaned there was sand piled on the floor and the couch. The grill did not work either so we had to cook indoors the whole time, but the fire pit was awesome. A heads up to bring trash bags would have been nice we filled up the trash and didn’t find a trash bag anywhere, which we are a little ways away from a store so having to drive into town just for trash bags was not ideal. Overall we would stay again if place was cleaned and other items in working order.

Fall getaway
Wanted a place for my husband, mom, and myself. This cabin was great. Decorated for fall. Had more than enough room Very secluded so was quiet. Close enough to walk to fish. But we opted to drive to Whitney for a guided tour. Then found a nice fishing spot on Aquila to fish. Had good luck fishing. Brought back several meals of striper and catfish. The cabin was so comfortable and well stocked felt like being home. We will definitely stay here again.

Girls Trip
We celebrated my mom’s 75th birthday at the cabin. We enjoyed the size of the house and it had everything we needed to make meals. There’s a grill right outside the back door which was nice too. Since it was so hot outside we had to stay in but we played games at the large dining table and made great memories.

We have always wanted to have a cabin in the woods we could share with friends and family and we finally built that dream on a very special piece of property!

Why they chose this property

I had been looking for years for just the right property for us. This heavily wooded ranch on a lake and with so much room has allowed us to build our dream cabin.
