The perfect stay!

We loved staying here, it was exactly what we needed. Close to Sequoia NP, with a hot tub to relax in afterwards. Robbie the horse is darn cute too, we fed him treats and give him some scratches.

Clean, cozy, comfortable cottage

This was the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking in the national parks nearby. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Juli gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and we loved feeding the sweet horse and walking down to the river also!

Very nice place

Owner does a good job communicating and location is fantastic. Our stay was during a hot part of year so window AC unit couldn't keep up and room was very hot so be prepared. Cottage was clean and river behind property is fantastic. Will say again.

Needs a few extra things…

We liked our cottage. However, not enough towels in the bathroom and no blow dryer. I would suggest making additional towels available as well as a blow dryer.

Horse by the river

This property has everything. We brought food and drinks and did not want to leave. This is close to the park and all the shops but not too close. Try the river rafting it was a blast. Property is great and the horse is an added bonus. The owners are attentive and friendly.

Nice cozy cabin for home base!

Cabin was as described and great for 2 adults. It was quiet and had access to the river. Communication with the owner was great and she was very quick to respond. This is a good location for home base with about an hours drive to get into Sequoia np. Our stay aligned with the Aurora being visible in much of the US and we got some great pictures right off the back porch! We enjoyed our stay here and would return to stay again!

Trip to Sequoia National Park

Nice cottage that is close to Sequoia National Park. Unfortunately the closest entrance to the park was closed so we had to take a longer drive but still a nice experience.

About the host

Hosted by Van Family.

Host profile image
This is where I raised my family. My children grew up exploring the mountain trails and creating new trails of their own. They learned to swim and fish in this river. They would build forts and camp near the river in their tents. They still tell stories of the campfires and s'mores they enjoyed for so many years. This is where my children learned to ride their horses, where they learned responsibility and creativity. Now our children bring our grandchildren here to create those same memories for them. We are so proud to have three generations enjoying this beautiful ranch on the river.
My husband is a hard worker who is a long time member of Cowboy Culture Club. We are both board members the Backcountry Horseman's of California. The BCHC is a non-profit organization made up of individuals who are dedicated to conserving backcountry wilderness and protecting stock users' historic use of wilderness trails and forage. We are dedicated to keeping all public lands open to the public. We proudly sit on thier board of directors.
My husband loves to saddle up his horses and pack his mules to take supplies to the stations deep in the forest. We spend a lot of our time volunteering to help clean up and improve our local lands and ranches. We want to make sure our children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors are able to enjoy nature the way we have. When you stay with us you are not just a room number in a commercial establishment, you are truly a guest in our HOME and we take that personally!

Why they chose this property

Our property is unique in many ways. We are centrally located between Lake Kaweah and Sequoia National Park. Lake Kaweah is 1.2 miles SW of our property. Here you can enjoy many water sports and family activities. The marina offers house boat and water bike rentals. Just a few miles NE of our property you are at the entrance of the amazing Sequoia National Park. Sequoia is one of California's most spectacular treasures. Nowhere else is the Sierra so high. Nowhere else are the canyons so rugged and deep. And nowhere else does the Sierra rise so steeply from the west.
Here you'll find giant trees and great canyons. The scale is grand; the park rises from 1,300 feet to 14,494 feet (at the summit of Mt. Whitney, highest point in the lower 48 states). Speaking of superlatives, here you’ll also find the largest tree on the planet (the epic General Sherman Tree), by some measures the country's deepest canyon (Kings Canyon), and the second-largest road-free wilderness area in the United States. And under it all, hundreds of marble caves and caverns, many teeming with rare plants and animals.
The bottom-to-tip topography means dramatic changes in scenery, diverse plants and animals, steep roads and trails, and snowmelt-fed rivers racing down from mountain peaks.
Our family favorites at the park include the Crystal Caves and the General Sherman Tree. These are a couple of the 'must see attractions' when you visit.
If golf intrest you, the Three Rivers Golf Course is less than 1 mile NE of us. All of these attractions are located off of Sierra Drive (Hwy 198).
On your way to the park, you can stop at the famous Reimer's Candy & Gifts for some delicious homemade ice cream. Enjoy an elegant dinner at The Gateway Restaurant. They offer great food and friendly service with wonderful views.
Looking for adventure? Try white water rafting or horseback riding. There are many trails for exploring and hiking. There is truly something for everyone here.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy our country charm in a quite and relaxing small town. We put our heart in our property. Personal touches we feel will make a difference when you're looking to escape the city or explore nature. We love where we live and we hope you do too! Enjoy the fresh mountain air, the tranquil sound of the river water running over the rocks. Take in the breath taking scenery we call home. Create everlasting memories with your family, friends and loved ones. Enjoy a book down on the sandy river beach while the children play in the water. Pack a picnic and have a BBQ. Start a campfire and let the family enjoy toasty s'mores under our illuminating blanket of stars. Let the children day or night camp in their tents on the large lawn area. Play a game of catch or throw a football. There are so many things to do and see while you are here. Let this be your home away from home, as you are a guest in OUR HOME.
