-Pet Policy: Here at Open Hearth Inn we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us.
1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended.
Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest.
Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do.
2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have.
3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas.
4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking.
We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room.
*There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding. We hope that you and your four-legged family member have a great stay here at Open Hearth Inn.

We were very pleased with the property. It met all expectations. The view was beautiful when we could see it, although we experienced heavy fog most of our stay.
We had such a lovely time at this place. It’s right on the water with a beautiful back deck and fire pit that overlook the ocean. The house itself was perfect for our family gathering. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms were well-stocked with everything we needed. My only qualm is that we had stayed here because it was close to Bar Harbor - the listing said it was a 50min drive but was more like an hour 10min and there wasn’t much else to do in Milbridge. Still, would definitely stay here again. The sunrises were UNBELIEVABLE! Highly recommend.
We had a very nice stay. The view of the inlet with all the lobster boats was beautiful. We enjoyed the dock/water access as well - our kids were able to spend some time fishing and even waded in the water. The drive is a little far to Acadia (a little over an hour) but we were still able to use the rental home as a base for visiting the National Park.
The apartment is in a great location for visiting Acadia National Park. From the apartment terrace you have a beautiful view of the sea. There is even a seafront terrace (don't forget the mosquito repellent). It is very clean and everything you need for cooking is available. We have enjoyed our stay very much.
We enjoyed our stay at the house as it was in a quiet area and my toddler had so many toys to play with! There were a few issues we have during our stay that we addressed with the property manager. They responded in a timely manner and were helpful. The biggest issue we had was that the dock that is advertised in the listing is caution taped off. They said the cover picture is supposed to tell people that it’s not available but I didn’t find it clear at all.

The house was not ok, there is no reason for the well water to smell as it does , it is not a slight odor its overwhelming , I have well water and live on the coast , with the proper treatment it has no odor.
The house is not clean , I had to clean the refrigerator , there was crumbs on the kitchen floor , the living room floor was dirty , even found dirty socks next to the couch. We had to was dishes and pans before we used them. I would not recommend .
The views are gorgeous! The Pigeon Hill hike is worth it. Lots of delicious lobster in the area. Close to Acadia for a day trip.
The house is a bit tired and the only heat comes from a propane fireplace and a space heater, but once we figured out the propane fireplace the house was warm within the hour. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Property manager responded quickly and was helpful. It would be great if they put some directions and recommendations together to help guests.
Loved the quietness of the property and the dock was fantastic. There's a nice trail about 15 minutes away called pigeon hill reserve that's definitely worth checking out!
Felt at home for a weekend in this cozy cabin on the coast. Beautiful views of the bay and seeing working lobstermen load and unload was fun. Sunrise on the dock was wonderful. All the amenities were there and the propane “wood” stove kept us nice and warm. Clean linens and comfy beds. If you have very young children or have trouble with steps and stairs it may not be the place for you, but it was fine for us. Was like visiting grandpa’s summer home on the water for a fall escape
The views of the lobster boats, and sunrises on the back deck were great! We couldn't find a pan big enough to cook our fresh lobster... The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy...no notebook found to help us with ideas for things to do locally, or how to turn on heat.
This property looks much better on line. It is dated looking and dark inside. The kitchen is newer and well equipped. The bathrooms were up to date and clean. Bedrooms were clean with clean linens. There were several problems. First, the water pressure was terrible. If you were using water in the bathrooms or the kitchen, If someone flushed a toilet., the water pressure went down to nearly nothing. We were unable to take a shower because the water just dripped out. Washing dishes was difficult.
There were several places in the house with uneven floor levels where you had to be careful not to trip and fall. The kitchen floor is much higher than the dining room floor and they had small blue strip lights along the edge to make you aware of it. The stairs going up to the second level are open at the top with no railing or wall. We had to be very careful going up and down. Someone could walk off the top of the stairs and fall down! The front door had 4 or 5 wooden steps with a railing, however, the door opened onto the railing making the railing useless. We had to hold onto the door handle to walk on the stairs.
