Plaka Stay

Fantastic location! Restaurants and shops are right outside the door! Lots of space for our large group! It’s definitely a quirky space, interesting layout. Basement area is huge! Rooftop was our favorite space! Could be cleaner, floors were filthy.

Location Location Location

We had a fabulous time in Athens and we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The town of Plaka was splendid with many great restaurants and shops and the home was in walking distance to many historical sites. Great time was had by all 10 in our group ages 18-55.

Perfect Location

This property is perfect for a family or group of folks looking to explore the best of Athens! Nice rooms with separate sitting rooms and laundry. The rooftop deck has views of the Acropolis, which was wonderful to see at night. Walk to restaurants, shops, transport, museums, and the Acropolis.

Fun and Great Location

We were 5 recently retired couples from all over the USA going on a cruise out of Athens. We all flew in a different times and spent 2 nights at Afrodite’s Mansion with JJ’s. Excellent place for us. Clean, nicely appointed. We spent a lovely evening on the deck. Each couple had their own space. Perfect. The downstairs “twin bed” room would be more ideal for kids but the area was SO COOL! They did a great job getting us in a little early which was great. Thank you!!

Great Location and Great Communication

The property is perfect. We were 3 couples and 3 children. What really stood out was the Location! We were walking distance to all the main attractions like the Acroplis, Syntagma square, Monastiraki, etc. Our hosts were reachable via text and phone whenever we needed them and went out of there way to accomodate our arrival and departure schedules. Lots of shopping and food options right outside the property's front door. A hidden gem of a coffee shop and snack bar called Sugar or Spice is just to the left as you exit the front door with a cozy courtyard and seating. The coffee there was divine and some of the best in Athens. As for the property, the accommodations were top notch, ice cold AC in every room and a wonderful rooftop with view of the acroplis. Will stay here again! Thank you JJ Properties for accomodating is and making or stay in Athens a memorable one.

IDEAL FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY

First time in Athens with a big group? Stay here! This home is set up as FOUR mini apartments and a sub level with twin beds all in one home so each set/family have their own private space! Each unit has a bathroom and 3 had kitchens. Great fridge space, coffee makers , glassware etc. beautiful patio roof. Quiet street amidst the hustle and bustle of Plaka. The management company was very responsive to my questions. The ONLY thing I would suggest is to use your own transportation company and not the one they use, FAME Transport. They charged us €120 to drive us 3 minutes (and we had to pay cash not credit card; My guess is because we would challenge the charge upon realizing their dishonesty). Yes Plaka is touristy, but we are indeed tourists. LOL. So many shops and restaurants...... walk a bit away from the Villa and discover some secret spots! One thing to note is that you cannot flush the toilet paper... weird, but manageable;) Enjoy your stay at Afroditis Mansion!

Not a good experience

We had a very uncomfortable stay at this property. The bathrooms were very poorly constructed and incredibly small. The toilet seat was so close to the tub that no one could use that one properly on the living room floor. We were told the shower head needed replacement but then they could not send anyone to fix it so we could not use. The top floor shower head was facing the wall and we had to hold it just to get a proper shower. There was a break in the head so some water just spewed out. The beds felt like box springs only. The second floor bedrooms did not block out any noise and there was plenty until 3am every night. The bottom floor we also didn't use because my daughter was meant to sleep on the twin but the staircase had no hand rails going from the living room floor to the basement which is obviously a fall hazard by all standards. The kitchen had scant supplies with regards to utensils. The overall quality was very poor of the home. it was a huge disappointment overall. Although some guests use the bottom floor bathroom just because they needed to, the drain falls outside so water was everywhere. The site states there is a clothes dryer. There is not one -- they are referring to drying your clothes on the top terrace. We have stayed in plenty of VRBOs in the past, and most in European cities. I understand the amenities are generally smaller but it was not at all comparable to others we have stayed in in Europe. Not worth the cost.

Gorgeous Property

This was a truly amazing property! Check-in was super easy. We arrived before check-in but Stelios meet us, helped us with our bags and let us leave our luggage at the house so we could go enjoy the area. The location was perfect. We were at the base of the Acropolis right in the heart of the Plaka. Adorable walking streets, tons of great restaurants and shops. It’s a very touristy area but the house is on a quiet street, a beautiful little haven in the middle of Athens. The house had so much space for our family. It was incredibly clean. Each room had it’s own bathroom, there was a wonderful terrace on the top floor and a lovely balcony over looking the beautiful street below. We could not have asked for anything more. We would love to stay here again.

Wonderful time - great location & property

We were a multigenerational group of 9 (grandparents to adult grandchildren) visiting Greece. Unfortunately, the property we had previously booked turned out to be in a very unsafe part of Athens. In searching VRBO, I found this home. The hosts responded to my midnight messages and we checked in at 11am the next day for two nights. What a wonderful property. Clean, spacious, everything exactly as noted in the listing. Location, in Plaka, was perfect. You can even see the Parthenon from the villa balcony. Safe, quiet, easy to get to. All-in-all, I would stay here again. And this capped a wonderful 8 day vacation in Greece.

Why they chose this property

The property is arranged over 4 floors and comprises 4 ensuite double bedrooms, 1 ensuite twin bedroom, plus two sofas for a maximum occupancy of 12 people. On the ground floor is a large living/dining room, bathroom with shower and a double bedroom. The first floor has two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The larger bedroom has a living area and kitchenette, plus a small balcony facing the quiet street below. On the top floor is a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and access to a large roof terrace with barbeque and a shaded dining area. The terrace has close up views of the acropolis and the Plaka roof-scape.
The fifth bedroom (with 2 twin beds) with ensuite bathroom is located in the basement.
Finally, there is a washing machine located in the utility room in the basement. All bedrooms have AC and the house is centrally heated with a gas boiler.

Guests have sole and private access to all areas of the townhouse except for a locked storage area in the basement.

Note: There is a very low doorway leading to the en-suite bathroom. Please watch your head!

What makes this property unique

The house is in the centre of Plaka in a super quiet pedestrian side-street, yet just feet away from some of the most famous sites in Plaka. For example the Acropolis museum is about 3 minutes walk away, and the entrance to the site itself is about 12 minutes walk. Aso nearby are the Temple of Zeus, Ancient Agora and Tower of the Winds. There are some lovely nearby restaurants (Daphne's is a classic choice) and bars (don't miss the famous Vrettos bar!). You can easily explore the nearby neighborhoods around Syntagma, Monastiraki, Kolonaki and Makrigianni - the house is in the between them all! \
