★ OTHER THINGS TO NOTE ★

Please note that this log cabin is 170-years-old. It's been well-cared for and offers plenty of cozy charm but does have characteristics of a historic home such as bumpy flooring, uneven stairs, and the occasional draft if it's cold and windy outside. In the winter the house is heated by the gas fireplace and electric space heaters so this may not be the best fit for guests who have balance issues or unsupervised children. In addition, we are located in the woods, the property is treated but there is a good chance you might see a bug or two in the warmer seasons!

Charming Cabin
This cabin is so unique and charming! We enjoyed listening to the rain on the tin roof swaying on the screened in porch swing. The fire from the gas logs and the comfortable couches provided a perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. The location to hiking trails, good restaurants and snow tubing couldn’t be beat. We thoroughly enjoyed our mountain getaway!

Cozy cabin
Rustic and comfortable. Had everything we needed including the lob cabin charm. Closer to everything than we thought it would be. Only issue was the drive way was a rutted, but we had a truck so we didn’t have any trouble.

Winter Weekend Get-a-way
My husband, my two old labs, and I stayed here for a weekend getaway! It was perfect!! We were close to all the ski hills. The house was so cozy and clean and came with updated amenities. The house's location is wonderful for convenience and inclement weather; snow hit fast Sunday night and with the house not being on a steep incline, etc. like most rentals in the mountains it was very easy to enter and leave!! Shelley was a wonderful host and so fast to respond!

First overnight family vacation
We visited this cabin for our youngest’s 2nd birthday, and our first overnight trip as a family of four. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Our toddlers love watching Little House on the Prairie, and they really thought we were staying at “Laura and Mary’s” cabin. We were only about a 20 minute drive to the sledding hill at Beech mountain, and close to lots of dining options. We lived in a historic home, so the “character” in this cabin didn’t bother us at all. If you’re averse to uneven floors and drafty windows, this isn’t the place for you. We all loved it, and the baseboard heating and fireplace kept us warm. My oldest wants to come back for her birthday!

Enjoyed our visit
Nice cabin but located behind a rental storage facility right off a main road. From the pictures and land description, you get the impression it is located in a more remote setting. Host accurately referenced this is an old cabin and if there was cold weather it could get a little chilly inside. That’s exactly what we experienced but it was much colder downstairs than what we would consider chilly. We enjoyed our visit.

Cozy cabin!
My husband and I so enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin, and the rich history of it was not lost on us! This is truly a one of a kind stay! I do think that solid curtains in the bedrooms would do better to block out the yard/street light and make for better rest. Overall, it was a wonderful stay!

Decent Get-A-Way
Overall decent little cabin location mared by storage units in front of the property, never mentioned in the ad. Was a little bit noiseyfrom the business. Overall cleanliness was good, check in and out was quick and easy. A leaf blower would have made his a literal home run but wasn’t horrible. The floors are part of the charm of an old cabin. These are CHARMing no doubt lol.

A unique getaway
We enjoyed our time at the 1848 cabin. It was an experience in a primitive sort of way. There were enough modern additions to keep things simple. Great for a few days, but I wouldn’t want tylive there!

Little cabin stay
The cabin was clean, fully stocked, comfy beds. The yard needed some attention and porch areas. Cob webs, old wet rugs, debris from the trees, dirty windows and screens. Both bedrooms need black out curtains or shades to sleep better. Location was not on a flowing creek and the fish smell was noticeable.

Mountain Retreat
Really loved Banner Elk and the surrounding area. The cabin was perfect for us. The firepit area and back porch were our favorite spots to hang with weather in the low 70's everyday. Hiked the Boone Fork Trail (5 miles) with our dog and it was the best hike I have ever taken with rivers, mountains and all types of things to look at. The cabin is really fun as well. Everything works and was clean. We had a great week!

Little House on the Prairie!
My wife & I loved this cozy little cabin! It was perfect for us. It's over 100 years but you can tell it's been kept with love! We loved the rustic feel and floors. The home was clean and I loved the back porch area. I sat out there for hours just staring at the lake & mountain view. The gas station is in walking distance and there is a dollar general about 3 miles away for a quick store run. Getting to Boone is only a 10 minute drive. But most of time was spent in the cabin and we loved every minute of it! Shelley was awesome with her communication through text and she left very detailed instructions concerning the property. We will be back soon!!
