Without question, the best feature of this condo is the stunning view. The patio is nice for dolphin & sunset viewing, and the breakfast nook is perfect for enjoying a nice view with coffee.
Pros:
- The view is truly spectacular, easily one of the nicest oceanfront views we've had.
- There is beautiful landscaping around the complex, and everything was very clean both inside and throughout the property.
- The complex and the neighborhood are very quiet.
- It's very spacious with a large living area and plenty of soft seating. The bedrooms have ample places to unpack your clothing, and the kitchen was a nice size.
- The location was perfect, near I-5 for easy access to everywhere we went. We spent time in San Diego, El Cajon Mountain, Anaheim, & Escondido and it was very convenient.
- There are several restaurants and a CVS within walking distance. A couple grocery stores and bagel shops are just a few minutes’ drive away.
Cons:
- The main bathroom shower and one sink, along with the small bathroom sink drained extremely slowly – so slowly that we could not use them at all. We did notify the owner, but it wasn’t fixed while we were there, so hopefully it will be addressed for the next guest. We made do with one shower and one sink, but it wasn’t convenient for 4 people to keep switching bathrooms.
- As with a lot of places near the ocean, several metal items in the kitchen were rusty, particularly the cooking knives and some pans. Just be cautious of what you use.
- Some sort of drapes or blinds would be helpful in the master bedroom. We were awake at 6am every day because it was just too bright to sleep.
A few things not mentioned in the listing that might help:
- The clearance for the underground parking garage is 6’4”. Our rental QX80 fit just fine, but you might want to double check if you’re driving anything larger. There is street parking, but it’s not guaranteed.
- There is no beach access from the property itself, since it’s located on a high bluff. There is access to Fletcher Cove down the block, easily walkable on the sidewalk in less than 10 minutes. The property manual you'll get shows a path that goes through the property, but that ended in a chained/ locked gate for us, so that info might be outdated or seasonal.
- The pool heater is not operated year-round; I believe the sign said Apr 1-Nov 1 plus Christmas break.
Overall, it’s a great place to stay, and we would definitely stay here again!
