About this property

Carriage House Cottage on horse farm.

This charming cottage has been a favorite for friends and family coming in for Derby and for touring the Bourbon trail, and now the owners have opened it to guests.
Nestled on 14 acres in the middle of horse farms, rolling green hills, brooks and streams, and the "Bourbon Trail" this cottage sits aside a pond with weeping willow, ducks and geese. Wake up to the sound of birds chirping, the sight of horses just outside your windows, and the smell of fresh country air.
The interior of this abode is all about down-home comfort. In the kitchen, there is a bar with comfy, cushy bar stools. The living room has deliciously inviting leather sofa and loveseat, large 55" flat screen TV, wood floors and huge windows with gorgeous green views everywhere the eye can see.
An amazing night's sleep is essential so we furnished the bedroom with a brand new ULTRA Novaform king sized bed with upgraded linens and three different sets of pillows to choose from: down, down alternative hypoallergenic, and foam to suit all types of sleepers.
For extra guests there is a full sized fold out memory foam mattress that is also very comfy.
The bathroom features shower with great water pressure and jetted jacuzzi tub.
Enjoy coffee in the morning on the back deck overlooking the pond, ducks, horse fields and horses. The deck has a large electric awning that extends and retracts, so you can relax in the shade or in the sun easily with the press of a button. Red Fern Riding Stables is just a few minutes away if you want to rent a horse and ride through the countryside like the locals. Visit the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, just down the road.
Enjoy the Derby just 28 miles away, and live the dream of the horse life while you're in town.
The owners Brian and Rebecca live next door in the main house and if they are not working or tending the horses, they can be available if you should need them, but they respect your privacy completely and encourage you to enjoy yourselves and your privacy, and all that their piece of paradise has to offer.

Great Experience!

Very happy with our stay. The house was exactly as pictured, very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Waking up with a couple of horses outside the window was really nice too! The location is amazing as well, outside the City but less than 5 minutes to the highway so everything we needed to get to was very accessible. Highly recommended.

Great location, great place!

My wife and I stayed at the carriage house while in Kentucky for our fall vacation. It is very nice, and situated in a quiet rural setting but is close enough to major highways and Louisville to make it a great centrally located home base for our many planned activities. The hosts were great to work with and the property was exactly as advertised. We did Bourbon distillery tours, caught races at Keeneland, dinner in downtown Louisville, horseback riding at Red Fern, and the Ark Encounter. This rental is on a small horse farm and watching the horses each day in the pasture was fun. We would definitely stay here again.

Just too nice!

After travelling from Europe and spending some days at various hotels on our way to KY, it was a true delight to arrive at the Carriage House Cottage and find everything precisely as described and depicted--clean, roomy and so well appointed and equipped that you wanted for nothing, and all so charming. Perfect for both short- and long-term stays. Sitting out on the terrace, enjoying the view, horses, bird song and most of all the tranquillity was 'just too nice', so we stayed 'home' instead of exploring the area as planned. We have no regrets! An added bonus was the owners, who live next door. If you wish to keep yourselves to yourselves, no problem; that will be respected. But if you have any queries or would like to have a chat, they are there with their knowledge, humour and great hospitality. A wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

Cottage on a horse farm

There’s no way to describe how perfect this location is. We ended up canceling two days of plan so we could just sit on the porch and watch the horses. Would recommend anyone looking to have a weekend getaway for a couple days to rent this property.

A little piece of Heaven!

We've hesitated to leave a review, because if we tell everyone how wonderful this place is, we'll never find an open date to return! Brian and Rebecca are the BEST hosts, the horses captured our hearts and the treed, green rolling hills refreshed our souls. Not exaggerations. Plus the history, culture and people here make us want to relocate. Our daughter calls Kentucky "a pretty girl" and she's not wrong. This carriage house and its owners are a prime example. Thanks Brian and Rebecca!

Fabulous fences and fantastic farm!

Vistas from every window...quiet rolling hills and charming countryside cottage! Wonderful space, decor and fully stocked kitchen for cooking! Every evening we enjoyed visiting up close with five beautiful horses and our gracious host even supplied carrots so our grandchildren could hand feed them! To top it all off, the sunrise was spectacular! Don't miss this one !

Kentucky Horse Country

Beautiful property nestled in the rolling hills of prime Kentucky horse country. Very close to all the venues Louisville has to offer yet tucked away in a peaceful pastoral setting. Host is very kind and accommodating. Property is very comfortable and surprisingly spacious. A Kentucky Gem

If you love beautiful green pastures, the sound of an occasional horse neigh and spectacular views this is the place for you. The hosts were friendly and attentive. The property was clean and well appointed. And the setting…you can’t ask for a better Kentucky experience. Close to Louisville, local attractions and the bourbon trail. One of the most beautiful places we stayed.

Deliriously delightful derby days

We took my mom to the Kentucky Derby for her 70th birthday! Staying in this house was icing on the cake!! The scenery was stunning and the horses on the property fit the theme. We were greeted by the hosts and they were amazing!! Such sweet people and so accommodating. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place and I definitely would stay here again!

Cozy cottage

We enjoyed staying in this cozy cottage for the week. It had everything that we needed, and was very well supplied. We brought our two little dogs with us, and they even offered us an outdoor playpen for them to use. Every window you looked out of had a beautiful view of the property, including their horses and duck pond. The owners are very welcoming and make you feel like part of their family. We are already planning a return visit for next year.

Peaceful!

Took my teenagers here for spring break. We visited the Noah’s Ark exhibit, did the zipline in cave, Churchill Downs & Slugger museum. This was the perfect place to retreat to after being a tourist all day. The owners offered a blow up bed & it was all set for us when we arrived. King bed was comfortable & my daughter slept great on queen blow up. The back porch was nice to enjoy the pond, horses & wildlife. We ate dinner here 2 nights. Kitchen was well stocked. Owners were friendly. We did not bring our pup although it was an option it would have worked just fine:) Book it! You’ll be happy you did! Thx for sharing your cottage with us!

A clean, bright, well-appointed cottage

A clean, bright, well-appointed cottage in a lovely pastoral setting. Horses in the pasture a few yards beyond the back porch, and ducks swimming in the small pond that borders the pasture. Beautiful sunsets and friendly, attentive hosts. On the Bourbon Trail, and an easy drive to Louisville or Lexington. Recommended.

My Old Kentucky Home

Okay, so the property is not "old" BUT it was like arriving home. Owners are warm and welcoming, yet give you your space and respect your privacy. Across the board, a 5 star stay!! The property is about 7 miles east of the city of Louisville, but after sightseeing all day, it was a welcome drive to the country. It is peaceful and quiet and has beautiful views. They had everything you could ask for and more. We did not cook there, but the kitchen seemed well stocked also. Above all, the bed was extremely comfortable which is hard to find in a rental, trust me. Do not hesitate to book here!!

Peaceful Stay for our Family

We stayed here for a couple months while our house was being completed (delays with builder) and felt so welcomed, by both the Craigs and their lovely neighbors. The carriage house was comfortable and well stocked for our family. It feels very spacious even though there is only one bedroom. Although it was stressful to find temporary housing at the last minute, we’re so thankful to have found this place. We left with some amazing summer memories and a few new friends. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay in Louisville area, don’t hesitate to book this one!

Quiet Stay in a Peaceful Place

The Carriage House was wonderful! It was perfect for my husband and I who wanted to be close to Louisville for a few tours but really prefer to stay out of the city for some peace and quiet. This place was perfect for that a 20-25 minute drive from where we were headed in Louisville, close to the Outlet Mall and had a great back deck for my husband and I to sit at. We can't wait to come back when we decide to go back to Louisville and surrounding areas!
