This was a wonderful and relaxing place and it had so much to offer!
The only downfall that we encountered is that the water pressure was very low during our stay.
This place is such a hidden gem. I was astounded at how well maintained the property was given its size. Absolutely beautiful! It was like stepping back in time to the summer camp in Dirty Dancing! The other side of our cabin was also rented out, but insulation was great, we couldn't even hear the other guests. Everything was cute and comfy and immaculately clean. It stormed (really bad) 2 of our nights and we just sat on the front porch watching, so relaxing. I cannot wait to come back here again with my kids! We'll definitely be back this summer!
My sister and I loved the cabin and its proximity to several parks, including Johnson’s Shut-Ins and Elephant Rocks. It was also nice to be quite close to town, to be able to quickly grab some supplies or eat dinner out. We enjoyed walking our dogs on the on-site trails and being able to binge watch some tv late at night. We would definitely consider staying again if visiting the area in future.
Property exactly as advertised. Pet friendly. We knew this unit did not have a kitchen. If a longer stay desired It might make a difference. There are places to eat a short drive away. All of the natural areas you came here for are right there.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Easy, flexible, check in, check out process. Great property and amenities. Clean space, clear communication from owners, even some complimentary water and snacks.
Perfect place to get away for a relaxing, peaceful stay. Close to Elephant Rock State Park and Johnson Shut-ins State Park. Host was very accommodating. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. Cabin does not have full kitchen, only small fridge, microwave, and Keurig. With a crockpot we were able to make it work just fine.
The property was small yet cozy. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. We brought a crock pot for meals, since there is no kitchen. There is a mini fridge, toaster, and Keurig. Think about bringing some extra cups, plates, utensils, can opener, etc if you don't plan on going out. We really didn't have any neigh to while there, so it was quiet. Don't follow your GPS, read the directions given by the property owner, or you'll end up at the wrong cabin! We loved that Dollar General was about 3 mins away, Elephant Rocks was just over 10, and Johnson Shut-ins about 25.
It is an cozy cabin with a mini refrigerator, Keurig, and microwave. Bring a can opener, an ice cube tray, and some bowls and some easy meals and you are set for eating.. I loved sitting on the screened front porch watching the trees, a deer, squirrels, birds. If you go to Johnson's Shutins State Park, remember it is not a waterslide. Hidden boulders are painful.
We had a great time was peaceful and relaxing my doggies had plenty of place to walk and play. Wish we took the side that had the kitchen side but we managed. Love the fire pit

About the host
Hosted by Linda
My husband and I moved to the Valley back in 2014. We bought the Iron County Farms next to this property in 2013, which was once a Thoroughbred farm. We decided to run cattle on it. In 2020 we turned one of our big barn lofts into a wedding venue. Keeping the original woodwork of this beautiful 100-year-old barn intact. It's definitely one of a kind. In August of 2021 We had the chance to purchase this wonderful 38 acres that sits adjacent to our farm, that would give us 3 additional venues, plus 6 Cabins. We were so excited for this new property. In January of 2022 we finally took over ownership of this beautiful property and in May of 2022 decided to share our cabins with all of you! We hope you love them and the property as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
The thing we enjoy most about this property is its beauty and history. We love that it's just a mile outside of town, but you feel a million miles away.
What makes this property unique
In the early 1900's this property was a Methodist kid's camp called Epworth Among the Hills. The big Pavillion you will see on the hill of this property is from the 1904 World's Fair of St. Louis. The two-story red Mission House was established in 1907 and was where the missionaries would stay. Alot of kids spent their summers on this beautiful property. The camp shut its doors in the late 1990's and new owners bought it in 2001 and did a wonderful job refurbing all the original cabins and the Riverstone lodge. The boy cabins still sit in the original state but gutted and new roofs until we decided how we want to refurbish them.
My husband and I owning the farm next door and turning one of our 100-year-old barns into a wedding/event venue, when this property became available to purchase, we didn't have to think twice. We took over ownership in January of 2022. We changed some furnishing inside the cabins, installed charter and some TV's. Then in May of 2022 we decided to put the cabins on short term rental sites so everyone could come and enjoy the beauty and history of this best kept secret in the Valley.
We also do large and small group retreats, with or without meals, weddings and all other events.
So, when you come and stay with us, take some time to walk around and breathe in a little bit of history.
