About this property

Appletree Guesthouse (amidst Oregon wine country)

Appletree Guesthouse is an 800 square-foot “home away from home”. It sits nestled in the forested hills of Southwest Eugene, Oregon surrounded by fine Willamette Valley wineries.

We strive to accommodate special needs, dietary restrictions, and other special requests (eg: anniversaries and birthday surprises).

Our desire is to serve you well by “Each of (us) using whatever gifts (we) have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
The space
Appletree Guesthouse is located on a working family farm, adjacent to a main house (listed separately as Château De Appletree) where our family of 10 lives, works, and plays. You may see children out collecting eggs, walking dogs, or tending to the sheep.

🐑 We want our guests to enjoy all that we have to offer, so please request if you want to pet any of the animals, or walk the field. We have Katahdin hair sheep in the field who are very smart (as far as sheep go) and will escape if any gates are left open, so please be aware if entering the field.

🐇🐩 🐓We have fiber rabbits, show dogs, and chickens as well. So please take note, that you may hear the occasional farm sound, or distant dog bark. We try our best to keep these noises to a minimum, and hush them as soon as possible. Although surrounded by possible busyness on the outside, Appletree Guesthouse has a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation and calm.

The interior has added touches to make your stay enjoyable, and relaxing. We have a coffee/tea bar and drinks in the fridge for your enjoyment. There is a Traeger grill on the back deck, loaded with pellets and ready to go, and basic spices, oil, and butter in the kitchenette. Each room has a TV. Please take note that our kitchenette does not have a permanent stove/oven, but we have provided a portable double hot-plate that is stored underneath the counter, a toaster oven, a toaster, and a mini microwave so that all cooking needs are met.

We’ve strived to choose the most comfortable mattresses, and bedding, with plenty of pillows and extra blankets as well. There is no AC in the unit, but it stays cool under the trees even on hot days (which in this part of Oregon are between June-Sept). There are individual space heaters in each room, and fans for the hot days.
Guest access
Guests staying in Appletree Guesthouse are asked to NOT enter the main house, or main deck area, unless there is a communication need or are invited to.

Upon request, a laundry area can be used through the side of the MAIN HOUSE, but upon entering the laundry area we ask that guests not pass the divider.

Walking the property is OK. The “campground area” at the top of the property is a shared space with the MAIN HOUSE, which includes the fire pit, hammock, and benches/chairs. Appletree Guesthouse has its own driveway, parking area, and walkway, which allows for total separation from other guests.
Other things to note
📌The kitchenette does not have a permanent stove/oven, instead we have a portable double hot-plate that is stored under the counter.

📌 There is NO air conditioning at the guesthouse, although it does stay quite cool under the trees. Floor fans provided.

📌 Please do not bring pets to the guesthouse unless you are given special permission upon request. We will consider non-shedding dog breeds. If you bring a surprise pet, there will be a $100 fee sent. The normal Pet fee with permission is $50.

Wonderful retreat

Loved this cozy little retreat with ample space for relaxing and sleeping. The hosts provided us with lots of snacks, drinks and goodies which was a welcome surprise. Check in and out was totally seamless, and everything in the unit was well done. Great decor and amenities. Its a bit of a drive to get to UO where our daughter was(about 25 minutes) but it is indeed very relaxing and well appointed. Only missing a hair dryer!

Quaint Getaway

This property is truly remote and sweet with goats, chickens and natural beauty. A great place to feel one with nature, and convenient if you have activities in the area. Note it is not near restaurants, so expect some driving if you want to go out to eat. The unit has lots of seating and attractive decor. Beds are quite comfortable too. There are a few items that could be improved, primarily cleanliness. Lots of cobwebs in windows and corners. Also, hot water heater could be set slightly higher as the water never truly got hot for showering or washing dishes.

Paradise

Katie and her family are wonderful hosts. The scenery is breathtaking and the dwelling space was comfortable, clean and set up for us to descend upon. If I get to come back next year, I’m staying with her.

Nice place

Only complaints I would have would be that there were a few spiders and other bugs, not bad, but noticeable. But my biggest complaint would be that they raised the price, after I had reserved the stay because of the World Championship Track and field meet was in town and "everyone else in the area" was doing it. Thought that a little cheezie. Other than that, nice place, and comfortable and mostly quiet .

Attention to Detail

This was a beautiful, peaceful and wonderful stay. Very well appointed and the attention to detail throughout was very appreciated. Coffee, tea, snacks, waters, ice and even butter was a pleasant surprise. Our hosts definitely have put a great deal of thought into this property. We hope to return to stay soon. Thank you so much for your gracious accommodations. P.S. Your family is lovely.
