This is not some tired old Waikiki hotel room with a sliver of an ocean view and smelly carpets.

Located AT THE TOP of the Diamond Head Beach Hotel, this penthouse studio has panoramic views of Diamond Head to the east and Waikiki to the west, including ocean, mountain and park views. Some guests have likened it to a crows nest due to the outstanding views.

Stylish and tastefully renovated -- with Travertine floors, Cherry Wood cabinets, African Ivory Granite counter tops, white Island Shutters, white Leather chairs, indigenous Koa wood furnishings, Kohler bath products, 52" HD TV, Digital Cable, HBO, FREE Password Protected Secure High Speed Wi-Fi, and a Memory Foam King bed with Egyptian cotton sheets help to make your stay comfortable, tranquil and rejuvenating. All you need to do is open the windows and take it in!

There is no real need for a car -- as you won't want to leave this highly desirable Gold Coast neighborhood with everything you need within walking distance. The Bus stops out front and we have UBER, Lyft and Biki as well. There is a laundry room in the basement / garage, and there are several car parking stalls for rent--if you must.

Jan’s property was great! There is an awesome view out each of the windows. It is small, but has everything you need or want. Jan was so helpful and super responsive. She texted me to make sure we had everything we needed and provided great info on what was going on in town. We definitely recommend this property!

Great locations and communication
We were very pleased with our stay. There was a flood upstair from us but it was dealt with and Jan was great at communicating. We absolutely loved the the location as it was a great way to get away from the crowded strip of Waikiki proper. It was a perfect 1 mile walk which we enjoyed doing in the morning for coffee and breakfast. The small neighborhood near us was adorable and unlike anything we saw while driving around. We had a car for 4 days (which I highly recommend if you want to explore the whole island) and did not have a problem finding parking out front. Jan had everything we needed in storage to snorkel and chairs plus umbrella for the beach.

The condo unit was accurately described and very clean. Jan provided everything needed for a 10 day stay. She pays attention to detail! The property is also safe with easy access to the main area of Waikiki. Easy access to many places using Uber. There are good restaurants within walking distance and a large park across the street. Beautiful views out each side of the room. I can recommend this property.

Maile Penthouse- our perfect home away from home!
This was our THIRD stay at Jan’s penthouse, and we love it there. For us, it’s all about the awesome views and quiet location. Our favorites are waking up to the sunrises that can be seen easily from the room, and ending the day in the lovely lawn enjoying the sunsets. Jan is a wonderful host providing so many extra perks like giving us plenty of coffee and bottled water for our two week stay. Having Tide available for doing laundry was truly appreciated as well. Jan will take good care of you so don’t hesitate to stay, you will love it here! !

Cozy and clean, can’t beat the view and location. Jan was a great communicator and her listing is accurate. We’ve stayed in various Waikiki locations and this was ideal for us. If you plan to rent a parking space, a mid-size SUV is the largest you should get.

Beautiful ocean views out both sides of the unit. No need for air conditioning with the trade winds blowing. Kitchen was stocked with everything you need for a week long visit. Highly recommend.

Zuerst einmal die wenigen negativen Punkte, es ist eine wirklich kleine Wohnung, die mit einem kombinierten kleinen Küchen-Badezimmer-trick das beste rausholt. Auch ist für den täglichen Essensbedarf lediglich ein Toaster, eine Mikorowelle, ein kleiner Kühlschrank und eine Strompfanne vorhanden. Also alles was man essen möchte muss damit hergerichtet werden können. Die Aussicht ist wirklich grandios, die Lage ganz vorzüglich und die Inhaberin des Appartments, sehr nett, reagiert sehr schnell und absolut kulant, wenn man etwas zu bemängeln hat. Das haben wir selbst erleben dürfen. Der Waikiki beach ist einfach per fuss zu erreichen, trotzdem wohnt man eher ruhig. Der Waschkeller ist leider etwas veraltet. Bei uns liefen 2 von 4 Waschmaschinen nicht und ebenso nur einer von 4 Trocknern. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Peaceful, Beautiful Hawaii at its Best!
We had to, sadly, say goodbye to this wonderful spot at the Diamond Head Hotel & Residences after 8 nights there. We cannot emphasize enough how much we enjoyed our stay. The studio is exactly as described, beautiful, well appointed, with outstanding views from both sides, everything we could need to make our stay as comfortable as our own home. Jan, the owner, was very welcoming and easy to communicate with. She made sure that we had everything that we needed, and answered questions quickly when we had them. My favorite part of our stay was the cooling trade winds that blew through the apartment, the sound of the waves, the change of the weather, and the light at sunrise and sunset. There really are no words adequate enough to describe how much we enjoyed our stay. It certainly changed the way we always viewed staying on this shore, in town, this close to Waikiki. We tend to favor the North Short, but spending time in the Diamond Head neighborhood, with the park, the little hidden beaches, and so may places to walk in the morning, certainly changed our minds. It was simply idyllic. We will most definitely return at some point in the future, and if not us next, some of our Ohana because they most certainly will hear of our experience and see our photos! Mahalo for everything - every little thoughtful touch, your kindness, and for sharing it with us. We loved every minute of our stay.

A perfect paradise
I can't say enough good things about the property and the owner. As soon as I booked I knew we were in good hands. The owner, Jan, is wonderful at communication and offers a wealth of information to help you get the most out of your stay. Inside the room, make sure to check the binder filled with great tips and suggestions. Additionally, the room itself is so well appointed. You can tell that a lot of thought and care was put into creating a restful space with amenities I have not had at other stays in Hawaii. And the place itself, WOW. The views are incredible. The location is perfect, being in the city but not in the city. I have stayed in Waikiki and while it is nice in some aspects, it can be noisy and even a bit stressful, if constant activity is not what you are looking for. This property is the antidote. Also, the room is immaculate, and the property is secure and well-maintained. Also, you can't get closer to the water. It's right there! You can get in the water anytime you want, which I did, from an access staircase close by. I am an avid snorkeler and to me, this was more than I had hoped for. I also appreciated greatly the ability to use the hosts beach equipment. I normally have to borrow it from my local family, which is great as well, but I didn't have to bother anyone this time! You cannot go wrong if you book this property. I am so grateful to Jan for making my trip as stress-free and enjoyable as possible! I will book again for sure. Thank you!

We stayed a week and the penthouse was fantastic with incredible views, wonderful location with small private comfortable grassy area for lounging and swim. Jan is a great communicator. Property is on Kalakaua close to Diamond Head Road and set apart from Waikiki, but still easy walking distance to shops, cafes, restaurants as well as Kapiolani park, the zoo and aquarium. Great running/walking route to Kahala with scenic vistas. Street parking was easily available and free. Love the backyard/lanai- beautiful location for watching sunrise/sunset with unobstructed view of the ocean. Swimming/surfing off the sea wall, but best snorkeling is 1/2 block away at Kamaina beach. The room was immaculate and tastefully decorated, well stocked with toiletries, towels, coffee, kitchen utensils (microwave) even beach equipment. Room is small and Penthouse description is misleading- it is #4 of 5 units, so not a great view from either side and no personal lanai. Still, a great bargain given the location.

Not everyone will appreciate its quiet neighborhood feel. Why they chose this property

There is no place on earth nicer than the Oahu Gold Coast with the Pacific Ocean, Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head Crater all at your doorstep. This is a neighborhood with a real community feel. People use the park for family picnics and daily exercise like Tai Chi and Yoga, along with soccer and tennis, etc. There are only three hotels in this area. About half of the units at the Diamond Head Beach Hotel are second homes to mainland owners, which are rarely occupied. This contributes significantly to the quiet neighborhood feel.

The weather is generally 80 degrees, the ocean is clear and inviting, the trade winds gently blow, and the local cultural & ethnic diversity is enviable. Where else can you have all of that and still be in the safety of the United States with immense military presence?

Plus Kahala Mall is very near by and has everything one needs in life (Whole Foods, California Pizza Kitchen, Apple Store, Macy's and the Movie Theaters). No need to be stuck in traffic.
