About this property

Brand New Beach Villa in Mahahual

Casa de Azucar is a brand new house right on the beach near Mahahual. The house is set up perfectly for a family to stay on their own private beach. The 2nd floor has a master suite and a bunk bed room. A family can all stay on the 2nd floor with the kitchen and a great deck to eat breakfast or dinner as you take in the view of the ocean. If you have more people in your party, the house has 2 additional bedrooms on the ground level each with their own queen bed, with private access to the beach. The house is ideal for 1 or 2 families to enjoy a Mexico beach vacation. We recently added full air conditioning (AC) to the entire home to make your stay that much better.

The beach house is a private home located 6 miles north of Majahual – considered the number one cruise ship destination in Mexico during 2018.
The beaches are powder white sand protected by a coral reef just 250 yards off shore. Ideal for swimming and sun bathing. Area is known for world class snorkeling and diving. The reef in front of the property has a large number of beautiful coral heads if you take the time to find them. Snorkeling and dive trips also available in nearby Majahual. Many restaurants and shops are available with more every day. Diving and fishing tours are available.

The home itself is fully self contained with solar electric, gas stove and hot water. Drinking water is bottled and supplied with the house. The house includes maid service and linens. The interior consists of a lovely open contemporary Mexican design with festive tile and native wood throughout the entire home. In addition, a roof top deck with 360 degrees views of the ocean and lagoons. There is no better place to watch the sunrise or sunset with coffee or a cocktail in hand.

You will find the perfect combination of activities native to the land with the relaxation of your own private home and beach. Great for families or a few families to spend time together on the beach. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions about the property. Also make sure that you check out the photos - the place is visually stunning.

Absolute beach front paradise

Casa Asucar is a gorgeous home with every amenity in a beautiful setting. The house was spotless. The kitchen well equipped and lots of extras, from snorkel to Paddle board and kayak. The host met us with the key and was immediately responsive to any questions. You have to stock up on groceries on your way in since it is a haul to any major grocery store but the small shops in Mahahual are pretty well stocked with the small things. The Sandy beach road to Casa is charming and we enjoyed greeting all the neighborhood pets along the way. The house is about 30 minutes from Mahahual and provides a peaceful, quiet haven away from the crowds.

Piece of paradise

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! Wonderful to have the beach just for our family. House is beautiful. Amazing kitchen, fully stocked. Spent a lot of time up on the terrace enjoying the incredible Ocean view. Worth the drive from Cancun! Charlie was great & very helpful too!

Beautiful remote beach stay

This is such a beautiful home. It was great to be able to walk out the door and into the ocean. My nephew picked coconuts for us and found amazing shells without leaving. You can see the sunrise and sunset from the rooftop bar. It is a bit of a drive to town so if you want to go out this may not be a great place to stay but it was perfect for our family. Charlie the caretaker was amazing. He was really helpful and such a pleasure in every interaction. The palm trees provided shade and protection from the wind. The waves were just enough for the kids to boogie board and the ocean is shallow enough that you can paddle/swim/snorkel way out without concerns for the kids safety. Such a wonderful vacation

looks even better than the pictures

This place is beautiful with all of the accommodations you could wish for. It is nice to be away from the bustle of mahahual, yet still be able to make a short drive in for an occasional meal and grocery run. You do need a car to be at this place. There is also a little "store" (a locally run hut) about 100 yards from the house, that was very convenient. It had everything from chicken to rice and chips, to fruits and veggies. The owner was in great communication with us, to make sure our needs were met, and his neighbor Charlie was there to check us in, give us local tips and help us if needed. He is wonderful. Thanks for a great stay!

Relaxation

The house was great! Aaron did a wonderful job at providing information. Charlie the caretaker was very responsive to anything that we asked of him. The only downside was the debris in the beach but it is nothing to do with the house. Overall it was a great trip and would definitely consider staying there again when we visit the area.

Far exceeded expectations

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Azucar. The house is well secluded yet has all the amenities you want and need - strong wifi, good A/C, comfortable beds, great showers, and a well equipped kitchen. We stocked up on groceries and never left the property for 3 days. Heck, I didn’t wear shoes for 3 days either. We can’t wait to come back.

Chill out!

Amazing place to chill out for days. Great property with very nice amenities. On site manager Charlie is AWESOME!! If you’re looking for hotel or resort treatment - nope. Secluded, authentic spot with nice beach. No close restaurants etc - which we love. Get away from everything! Visit town or local ruins and cenotes for more fun! Love this place.

Amazing house!

Our trip was amazing, and the house was so much more than we were expecting! Going a bit off the usual tourist tract can seem daunting, but Aaron was so helpful that everything was super easy. We were given clear instructions on how to get to the house and tons of info about the area, trip planning, and things to do in Mahahual. Charlie, the house caretaker was also amazing. He met us late on our arrival day, cold beer in the fridge, and was a constant resource for local info and help. The house was perfect, better than the pictures, and had everything we needed for a fantastic beach adventure. I can’t recommend the house or support we had before and during our trip enough! Cheers!!!

Secluded Private Beach in Mexico

We stayed at the Casa Azucar for a week. While the weather was a little rough, we had a great stay. The caretaker, Charlie, was first rate and helped us when a few problems came up. This is a location that you need to be prepared for - running to the store for chips and beer can take an hour. That being said, the kitchen is easy to cook in so you don't have to leave that breath-taking ocean view. One of the favorite parts of our trip was stargazing from the rooftop deck. As for the seaweed and plastics on shore - that really depends on the weather and currents. For us, we only had 2 days that weren't so great. The rest of the week we were out in the water with no problem. We really loved the ocean access and solitude - hope we can return soon!

Sunrise to Sunset

This home exceeded all expectations for our girlfriend getaway. The rooftop is amazing and we started each day sipping our coffee watching the sunrise. In the evenings we gathered to watch the sunset over the bay. The beach is gorgeous and we worked with the caretaker to arrange for afternoon massages. The drive from Cancun is a haul, however we easily navigated the drive. I would highly recommend stopping for groceries to take advantage of staying in and utilizing the 2nd floor patio for your meals. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook. What we loved the most was being off the grid. The house has air conditioning - and all modern utilities - but it’s off the beaten path. We didn’t have to worry about being to loud or listening to somebody’s baby crying. If you are looking for a beautiful home off the beaten path - this is the place for you.

BEST VACATION EVER

The house was perfect in every way and made our stay in Mexico all the more enjoyable. Our favorite is the rooftop cabana - perfect for watching the sun set over the lagoon every evening! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for six people, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were fully equipped with very clean linens for our stay. Cannot say enough good things about how nice the casa is! Plenty of snorkeling gear, beach chairs, kayak, paddleboard, etc. to make your stay even more enjoyable! The house is only a short drive from the beautiful city of Mahahual, so it is a perfect choice if you are wanting to have an authentic Mexican beach vacation. Skip the resorts and head straight for this little gem - you will not be disappointed!

'Casa Azucar' a small piece of Costa Maya Paradise

On behalf of my family and friends- I wish to take this opportunity to Thank You for our most delightful stay at Casa Azucar! What a magnificent Villa that is tucked away on the beautiful white sandy beach secluded among the quiet serenity of the Coconut Palms on the magnificent calm warm tranquil turquoise waters of the Caribbean - where we spent most of our time… Activities included: swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, body surfing, paddle boarding, hunting for lobster and simply walking the beach. The weather was perfect in the mid 80’s the entire time there. We especially enjoyed the sun rise from the beach and also the sunsets - which were awesome from the rooftop deck, where one can enjoy a 360-degree spectacular view. Charlie the Caretaker was very gracious and kind in showing us around the Villa on arrival and providing us with an orientation to all of the amenities offered… 'Casa Azucar' is clean and very well furnished and most comfortable in every respect. We felt right at home – particularly grateful for the electrical service, which made our stay very special indeed. We had a Butterball Turkey for Thanksgiving with all the trimmings- including pumpkin pie and banana-cream pie - all came together without a hitch in the well equipped kitchen – just like at Grandma’s house. We invited the Caretakers to join us for Turkey Dinner, but He had prior commitments and respectfully declined - however, we gave him our leftovers on departure - for which he and his wife were most grateful. We took a Boat Tour from Heiko of Amigos Del Mar out to Banco Chinchorro – which was a delightful tour of the Atoll-where we went snorkeling and saw many of the most beautiful fish and coral of the Caribbean. We also saw a 10-12 ft crocodile swim up to us while we were having lunch on the boat slip out in the middle of the Atoll-where there were some mangroves nearby. We also saw some 10-12 ft sharks while snorkeling – they pretty much ignored us… which was just fine by me- not to tango with those creatures!! All-in-all we had a most memorable and enjoyable stay at Casa Azucar` – I now know why you love it there - you have spoken so highly of the place – which is an under-statement - as it’s so pristine and serene that we long to return sometime soon.

Honeymoon Paradise!

My wife and I had an amazing time! The directions and descriptions given by the property owner were spot on. The house was everything we could ever wish for. The privacy of the beach was great and the addition of the beach bed was nice for afternoon naps. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the roof top deck. We went to town most evenings and every restaurant that was recommended by the property owner and manager was fantastic! Took a short excursion to one of the Mayan ruins and stopped off at a beautiful cenote. The surprise visit of a mother sea turtle coming on the beach to lay her eggs was definitely a once in a life time experience We would highly recommend this beautiful home. We look forward to returning with our families and friends.

Beautiful home with a few things to be aware of

We were two families of four (4 adults/4 kiddos) and this house fit us beautifully. The house is lovely and spacious - love the tile work throughout. Love the fact that it was off the grid, remote and ran mainly on solar power. The generator did get turned on early on our first morning and that was loud enough to wake us but we asked the manager to delay the recharge of the batteries until a bit later and he was great about accommodating that so it didn't interrupt our sleep for the remainder of our stay. We did a good job conserving energy so the generator didn't need to go on do to lack of power but the need for the generator to be on more (therefore being noisy) could be an issue for those not a aware of their energy consumption. The rooftop porch was spectacular - breathtaking really. The room with the bunk beds is by far the warmest in the house with far less breeze coming through so we were mainly forced to utilized the other rooms. The house gets a wonderful breeze but it certainly did get warm (we visited in July so of course it did). Overall we didn't feel like the lack of AC was a major issue except when the thunder storms rolled through forcing us to shut up the house so the rain wouldn't come in. Speaking of rain- it is important to know that with the heavy rain comes scorpions. Our first night several found their way in which was a little concerning with young kids getting up at night to use the bathroom. But after speaking with the manager and understanding they try to get out of the rain we blocked the doorways with towels and didn't seem to have any other issues. Additionally, the manager was able to educate us more about them relieving some of the concern but it is certainly a possibility that they will get in so awareness is key. We were taken a bit back by the enormous amount of trash that was washed up on the beach as we didn't expect that. We expected more pristine beaches so that was very disappointing. Granted that has nothing to do with the home itself per say but rather a sad indicator of the world we live in today. So if you are looking for pristine beaches then condos or hotels that groom the beach would be more up your allay. The owners were really easy to work with through the rental process and we were welcomed with a cold six pack in the fridge which was a wonderful surprise. We were able to see Manta Ray and other rays along with a variety of fish in the reef further down the beach to the north.

Great location for a quiet getaway

It was well worth the drive from Cancun. We spent just over a week with a total of 8 people. The house is located about 25 mins. from Mahahual on a rough beach road. The house was perfect for our group (grandparents, kids, and grandkids). It is very spacious with fantastic views, comfy beds, and room to spread out. The beach is quiet and relaxing. There is great snorkeling a short walk up the beach and even better snorkeling a short drive up the beach (also within walking distance if you don't mind the heat). We saw corral formations and a huge puffer fish along with other sea life. There is also a great swim spot just down from the house. The only thing we missed was having hammocks - bring them if you have them. There are plenty of trees to hang them from to enjoy the ocean breeze, salt water, and beach. Mahahual is a great little town with a totally different vibe depending on when you go. It is very tourist oriented during the day when the cruise ships are docked, but at night it becomes a local hang out. There are several good restaurants in town along the malecon and the Mayan Beach Garden up the road has phenomenal food. We also picked up pollo asado from Dona Manuela at the end of the football field that was delicious. Note: There is a lot of plastic refuse on the beaches. It didn't detract from our stay in any way, but is certainly something to be aware of. Our kids were surprised and it has made them more conscious about conservation.

Great house in Mahahaul!

A few friends and I went down to this beautiful house in Mahahaul for our Spring Break. The house itself is absolutely amazing. Just feet from the ocean, you can enjoy ocean kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, or just laying on the beach. The open rooftop is a great spot to enjoy drinks and watch the sun set over the lagoon which is behind the house. The house also has a porch that overlooks the ocean which is a great spot to it out and enjoy the ocean breeze. The town of Mahahaul is perfect for all ages. It offers everything from scuba, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins and much more. By day, the town fills up with tourists from the cruise ships, but at night the town is all yours. The town has great restaurants that have all different types of food. The housekeeper Charlie is very helpful if you need anything. Also the housekeeper Marcia lives down the road but she is a great resource for excursions outside of Mahahaul! I highly recommend this beautiful beach house, and I can't wait until I get to go back down!!

Amazing Beachfront Home in Costa Maya!

My wife and I spent a week at this amazing house! We had guests with us for a total of 6 people and there was plenty of room. If you're looking for your own private beach right outside your door this is the house for you. Everyone morning we enjoyed our coffee on the beach to get our day started! The rooftop terrace is a perfect spot to see the cruise ships coming into town or the sun setting over the fresh water lake behind the house. The house is secluded and very private. A great get away from the hustle and bustle of most resort town. A short drive into Mahahual for some amazing fresh seafood that incredibly inexpensive is a have to! Don't pass up the opportunity for your very own personal beach house that is literally step to the ocean!

Amazing Mahahual Villa-

We had an amazing time in this classic Mexican villa. The home is wonderfully decorated with a absolutely stunning rooftop view and a beach to match. Very kid friendly with gentle waves for surfing and paddle boarding, plus access to fishing on the beach flats or guided tours in the nearby lagoon/gulf for tarpon and snook. I would take my family back or go as a great buddy fishing trip. Only a 15 minute drive into a cute little beach town of Mahahual with friendly service and wonderful food. Quiet & safe.

Hidden Mexican Gem

My wife, our 2 and half year old son, and I spent 7 nights at this spectacular house in this incredible undiscovered area of Mexico. The house is in a beautiful location and very comfortable. The house has all the amenities you could every need and is charming to boot. We enjoyed breakfasts and cocktails on the rooftop and balcony, swimming in the ocean, and playing and relaxing on the beach. The house and beach peaceful and private. The caretaker made sure were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Mahahual is a spectacular 15 minute drive away and a gem of a town - totally undiscovered, no large resorts, but plenty of great restaurant and incredible beaches and water. Mahahual and this area is the way Mexico used to be. We were able to do a few fun day trips with ruins and a stunning lake only an hour away. We had the perfect vacation and hope that we can make another trip to Casa Azucar in the future.

Girls trip to paradise

We spent five amazing days at this beautiful house which had natural beauty combined with a house full of amenities. We were so blessed with amazing weather, walks on the beach, kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling steps away from our house!. It is a perfect location for relaxation and fun activities with the benefit of your own private beach. Day trips to Mahahual allowed us the opportunity for great meals, fresh ceviche and margaritas!... Highly recommended to all! Simply cannot wait to return....

Perfect weekend!

I am in love with Mahahual and this darling beach house. For those who don't love how cheesy and commercialized Cancun and Playa del Carmen are, and are in search of a more authentic Mexican vacation experience, I highly recommend this house. It is so charming, with lots of Mexican tile all over the walls, huge banana palms providing shade in the backyard, and a cozy hammock on the upstairs porch. The master bedroom is dreamy, as it overlooks the ocean. We opened the windows and enjoyed the most heavenly breeze as we drifted to sleep each night. The ocean is literally 10 steps from the back porch, and there is a nice, flat beach to sit and soak up the sun. The town of Mahahual is adorable. There are so many cute restaurants right on the beach, and even one that has hammocks in the water. This town is such a gem, and I just pray it doesn't get "discovered" like some of the other once charming beach towns. While I went on a girls weekend, I look forward to bringing my family back.

My friends and I were so lucky to find this treasure of a beach house in Mahahual, Mexico! The house was beautifully situated right on the ocean. We truly felt "at home" in this Mexican casa. I loved the decor! An authentic blend of the regional/local art. Just beautiful and I can't wait to return!
