I wanted a nice quiet cabin by a river. This cabin is nice and by a river, but not quiet. There are trains that go by every 45 minutes that blow their horn due to an unarmed, unlit railroad crossing a block away.
Other than that very pertinent fact, it was lively.
Host was very helpful with any questions that I had. It was my husband and my 35th anniversary, when we walked in, she had left a special gift for us. The house was perfect and spotless-would love to stay here again!!! I would recommend it to anyone.
You get used to the train/not a good place to fish/house moves when someone is walking around but if you just want a place to hang out for thr weekend this is a good place.
Cabin is nice and clean on the inside, comfortable beds, sound machines provided (because the train runs throughout the night, right behind the house)! The deck and furniture were covered in debris & spider webs, but there were cleaning supplies in the kitchen closet, so I was able to clean the furniture just fine. I attended a wedding about 40 minutes away, so didn’t get much time in Hardy, but the cabin was a nice place to sleep. Tornado sirens & major storms on second night, so we did have to take shelter at the school in town. A neighbor knocked on our door at 4:00 in the morning to make sure we were aware, which I was so grateful for. Nice cabin, neighbors and area.
Stephanie was an exceptional host! The house was clean, cute, and had everything you could want for an enjoyable weekend getaway. We will definitely book with her again in the future.
This property is good but could be so much better with just a few updates. Overall it was clean and in a perfect location near the downtown area.
The blinds were in a bit of disrepair. Many were damaged.
The bed sheets were rather rough, new but a lower quality.
There were no games, not even a deck of cards.
We had 4 towels to 3 people over two nights. With two of them women, that was a bit on the low side.
There is one tv in the living room. None in the bedrooms. This isn't a huge issue as we wanted to spend time together, not watch tv. However, if that is your thing, take note.
Now for the cleanliness. The property was clean, except for the refrigerator. It was a mess and need a deep clean or replacement.
This is an honest review. There was evidence the host/owner had taken some action, such as the paint which appeared recently done. I expect over course of the next year, there will be many more updates that bring this property to the 5 star range.
This weekend was wonderful! Perfect little “bungalow on stilts”. Listening to the water and the trains was so relaxing. Read on the deck all afternoon and did a little fishing. We loved the deck so much, we never made it down to the firepit! The only thing I would suggest is to have a regular coffee pot or note on the amenities list that it’s a keurig. We will definitely be back! Thank you!!
We would stay again. A couple of things the owner should consider - 1 have a coffee pot. KCUP is okay but we grind our beans and brought with (also found a used Pod in the KCUP chamber). Have more then one fry pan and make sure one is large. Buy a spatula - the only one in the drawer was a grill spatula and it did not work well with that little fry pan. Bring your own spices, literally nothing but salt and pepper. No pitcher to make tea or Ice Lemon water etc.. Need to stock more then one roll of TP. Otherwise we loved the place. Comfortable beds, everyone got great sleep.
We really enjoyed staying at the cabin and it was exactly as described. The host was helpful on communicative and the property was perfect for what we needed during our fishing trip on the spring river. I would highly recommend it!
Stephanie was quick to answer whenever we got there and the water department had not turned on the water. The issue sucked for us BUT it was handled before we woke up and they refunded a day to us to make up for the inconvenience........ without me asking for it .. so that was very nice... we would most definitely stay here again.... NICE, Quiet, Little nook and area very close to down town..!
Excellent host! We celebrated our anniversary and were welcomed with a goodie basket and champagne. Looks recently renovated and had a wonderful porch to watch the river roll by .
The Girls Float Trip That We Didn’t Actually Float
There was a bad storm that came through causing our float to be canceled. This cabin saved the day. We paid a little more than we had planned and it made our trip. We had a wonderful porch with a seating area to watch the river and the storm roll through. We had room inside for cooking, and playing card games too. Close to the sweet downtown area with shopping and food. Parking for 2 vehicles and park kayaks and canoes you might bring with you. The cabin is decorated so cutely, the bathroom extra clean with quality toys and basic hygiene products. They left us a cute welcome package with the sweetest local swag too! We have already messaged them about coming back!!
Absolutely loved our weekend away here! The house was very clean and cozy. Perfect location right next to the river and great for morning coffee time. It’s a very quick walk to the Main Street where you can shop at the boutique stores. I hope to stay here again one day!
This place is right on the river. It was very clean and the perfect for me and my sister to get away and have some much needed time. We would definitely stay there again!
