Beautiful Getaway

Our group of 13 women had the most incredible experience at this beautiful home from Thursday through Sunday! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning surroundings, cozy yet spacious layout, and thoughtful details that made our stay extra special.Rachel's home was impeccably clean and well-equipped, offering plenty of room for everyone to relax and connect. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals together, and the common areas were perfect for deep conversations, laughter, and making memories. Each bedroom was comfortable and inviting, allowing for restful sleep after days filled with learning, fun and relaxation. The outdoor space was just as impressive—whether we were sipping coffee in the morning, enjoying a peaceful walk, or unwinding under the stars, the setting was absolutely perfect.Rachel's beautiful home provided the ideal atmosphere for our getaway, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to gather to refresh, recharge, and strengthen our bonds. If you're looking for a beautiful, welcoming space for a group gathering, this is it! We can't wait to return!

Great Get Away

We celebrated our Christmas here, as it was centrally located so no one had to travel to far. This home was well stocked with everything one would need. The rec room in the garage was a great place to hang out and space heaters kept it comfortably warm for December. The season porch also had an option to be heated but only need to be on a short time as the sun does warm it up nicely too. Several enjoyed hanging out there in the afternoons. We played lots of ping pong and board games. Great Time thank you for sharing your home. We would love to spend time there a gain.

Cozy retreat anytime of year

Our family recently had a small reunion for the Thanksgiving holiday and to celebrate our Mom’s birthday and stayed at “A creak runs through it” and everyone had an amazing time. The owner, Rachel, was fantastic. Very responsive to our many questions, flexible and fair. The home is beautiful, with wood accents all around. Extra options for additional beds with air mattresses and cots if needed. Everything was labeled making it easy to locate and return items to their place. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy. The lake view and property are serene, lots of ducks and geese and we enjoyed watching it transform into a winter wonderland as the water slowly iced over each day. Only area people mentioned for improvement were the mattresses were a little too soft for some, but this may be personal preference to a more firm mattress. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Home

Rachael has a beautiful home and we were grateful to have a space that comfortably fit 8 adults. We had a fruit fly problem when we arrived, but it was at the fault of a previous guest leaving trash where it was not meant, so I knocked one star off as it was pretty disruptive to our stay as the kitchen was essentially unusable. This is NOT the norm and I'd hate for it to deter anyone else from staying at this awesome space! Rachael was extremely apologetic about the situation and worked with me to provide fair compensation. I'd recommend this VRBO in the future knowing this!

It was an awesome stay!

We had a fantastic stay at this property. It was the first "family reunion" for us and our children. The house was great. It was nice to have bedrooms for all couples. It was hard having only 2 bathrooms, but we made it work. Also, the shower in the small bathroom had some mold at the bottom and the showerhead sprayed straight out the door. The kitchen was kind of small for the number of people but there were plenty of gathering areas (the sun room, the garage family room, the main living room) so we didn't feel cramped. The yard was fantastic with lots of room for yard games, a fire area, and room for the dog to run. The dock was in great shape with space for our boat. The public boat launch was VERY shallow and left some damage on our boat, but this was not the property owners' fault. We should have looked into depth before we went. The beds were very comfortable and all bedding was soft and clean. Rachel, the host, was on the spot when we had questions and very concerned that we had a great stay. We would go back!!

Great family vacation

We had a great family vacation - 3 generations all together and we had a blast. There is room for everyone to be together to be able to play games, eat and hang out inside and out. The 20 year olds loved being able to use the garage as a hang out after the parents & grandparents went to bed. The yard is nice and level so we were able to play plenty of yard games and chill around the fire. Cokato lake is great for water sports and doesn't get very busy - even on the weekends.

Great Family Getaway

We had a great time and appreciated the large variety of spaces to spread out as a family. Very user-friendly experience as the hosts have lots of amenities and clear descriptions and instructions on how to use them (both inside and outside). My kids loved the two person kayak and paddle board and the plentiful sleeping options. There isn't much you could possibly need that the hosts haven't thought of and already included for their guests.

Family Getaway

We recently stayed at this property for 3 nights with a family of 10 with small children and 1 dog. The property had plenty of space for all of us and all the essential supplies! The enclosed porch, large outdoor space, and the Blackstone were our favorite! They recently put in new flooring which was a bonus. The weather was around 70 degrees and still got rather warm in the upstairs bedrooms, but there were plenty of fans in the property. We did need to bring everything for the small children (highchair/pack n play/baby gates etc.) Overall a nice stay!

Beautiful property!

This is a beautiful property close to town, secluded and is very quiet. To me the house seemed smaller than the pictures, but there was a lot of space to spread out. The garage room was a favorite with the teenagers. We were there at a very hot time so the first day the air conditioner had a hard time cooling the house down to where we were comfortable. We also had to keep a close eye on the temperature settings as they kept automatically changing. Because of the heat we were only able to use the glassed in sunroom one day. That was my favorite place in the whole house. The view is incredible both day and night. The bedrooms are small except the master. The kitchen had a large pantry to put your groceries in, and quite a bit of counter space. The appliances worked well. It was very nice to have the second refrigerator in the garage room. The kitchen was well stocked, but a little light on cereal bowls and plates. There were many spices available, but we brought our own favorites. This home is decorated so it feels very homey, and we all enjoyed it. The lake was quite muddy due to levels being low, but the kids had a lot of fun catching fish off the dock. We brought a boat and everyone had a great time fishing and tubing on this very quiet lake. There was almost no boat traffic. Our hosts were incredible! Any questions were answered quickly, and you could tell they wanted you to have a great experience in their lovely home. Very well done! Recommend!

About the host

We aren't professional owners but wanted to share our lake place with other families so they can enjoy the lovely property, quiet lake with little boat traffic and great fishing. We live about 1 hour away, enjoy family time, traveling, cooking, TV , birdwatching, reading and games.

Why they chose this property

We instantly felll in love with the flat yard and babbling creek with darling bridges. The little boy fishing on the bridge just adds to the charm. Feel free to give him a name during your stay. The privacy, views and expansive lot are our oasis from the city life. The lake view is calming and inspiring with the large trees and rolling farm hills. The cabin and lawn provide perfect spaces for relaxing, fun and entertaining.

What makes this property unique

We converted the garage to a Great Room and installed a Lifestyle screened garage door Really cool door which allows easy indoor/outdoor entertaining with all the comforts of a family room. The garage has become everyones favorite hang out with the comfy furniture, ping pong table and long counter space. We suggest using the counter top as a buffet for your snacks and meals. Who ever wakes up first usually heads to the garage with the dogs so they can play and you can enjoy your coffee while the lazy ones can sleep in.
