About this property

Roomy 2/1 Apt| 1 Mile To Balboa Park!

Summary:
Our apartment is in the heart of the San Diego neighborhood Hillcrest and within easy reach of downtown San Diego, Little Italy, Balboa Park, Petco Park, the Convention Center, airport and beaches. Enjoy the diverse neighborhood, local vibe and close proximity to trendy & popular eateries, pubs, cafes, quaint shops, and outdoor spaces. The area is easy to explore by walking, taking public transportation, Uber/Lyft or close to nearby freeways.

The Space:
2 bed 1 bath apartment that is perfect for families or a group 4 - 8 people looking to enjoy San Diego!.

The entire apartment, this apartment does have a designated parking space!
Designated spot in the driveway (in front of garage door in the center when pulling into driveway), please do not cover entirety of the sidewalk, or you may pick up a $60 parking ticket. There is free street parking as well.

The Neighborhood:
"The neighborhood is recognized as a diverse, trendy, hip area and is known for its acceptance and tolerance of all people. You can enjoy walking to nearby restaurants, boutiques, pubs, bars, shops and grocery stores. The area is easy to explore by walking, taking public transportation or accessing nearby freeways. The neighborhood is a safe, well visited area that makes one feel comfortable to get out and take advantage of the night life.
Downtown and Convention Center is a short 10 minute scooter/uber/car ride down the hill, so avoid the noisy hotels of the Gaslamp for our little enclave:) Hillcrest is the best place to be in San Diego- cutting edge and happening, yet quiet and peaceful... It has blossomed over the past decade into one of the hippest, most happening communities in all of San Diego and is known for its tolerance, youthfulness, culture, and diversity as well as numerous locally-owned businesses, including restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs, trendy thrift-stores, and other independent specialty stores. Hillcrest also has two major hospitals that serve the area and many medical offices. Hillcrest has a high population density compared to many other neighborhoods in San Diego, and is an older neighborhood which has gone through gentrification. Many streets are lined with trees. There are Craftsman homes, Spanish beauties, and Mid-Century modern apartment buildings. The community is considered one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live and own in San Diego County, and is bound by Mission Hills to the northwest, Bankers Hill, Balboa Park, and downtown to the south, University Heights to the north, and North Park to the east. Balboa Park is a short walk away! A large ridge overlooking San Diego Bay borders the neighborhood to the west.
Close by and walking distance are everything you could need i.e. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, RiteAid, Walgreen, happy hour spots like Papalecco, and Urban Mo's; and amazing morning spots like Peet's, Bread et Cie, and other incredible restaurants like Hane Sushi, Hash House, Martinis above 4th-just ask around:)"

Getting Around:
Walking is highly recommended! Local freeways are within easy access. San Diego's public transport system is called MTS and is available nearby (check the transit tab in Google Maps). Uber/Lyft is readily accessible within the neighborhood at all times of the day and night. There is free street parking as well but can be difficult to find depending on time of day. We recommend extra vehicles using SpotHero or SpotAngels for cheap additional parking.

Other Things to Note:
Before we can confirm any booking, we do need to know:
1. What brings you into town?
2. How many people will be staying at the home?
3. Do you expect any visitors, if so how many?

This apartment does have a designated parking space! Designated spot in the driveway (in front of garage door in the center when pulling into driveway), please do not cover entirety of the sidewalk, or you may pick up a $60 parking ticket. There is FREE street parking or if you need to reserve a spot there a great websites called SpotHero and SpotAngels.

We do not allow early luggage drop offs or for guests to leave luggage, if you need to drop off luggage early or to leave luggage late there is a great site called luggage hero where you can drop them off.

San Diego’s weather is perfect 90% of the year. Most guest use fans and open windows and older buildings in SD usually do not have A/C. Even most bars and restaurants only use fans!

Very drab and not like the pictures
It was not a good experience with too few plugs and a difficult process to get "approved" to stay there. Definitely don't recommend

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Not as advertised
Unfortunately when we got to the property we found that the listing looked and sounded a lot better than it actually was in person. The apartment was so outdated and the walls were very dirty with scuff marks all over and peeling paint. The bathroom door did not shut properly and there was no AC (which we knew ahead of time) but the fans that were provided in the closets were very dirty and caked with dust. We opened the windows to get air flow and cool down the house but the freeway goes on both sides of the bedrooms so it was extremely loud all night long. The property entrance was also very overgrown so we had to duck under a tree to get to the stairs and walk around the sidewalk full of weeds. The single bed was so loud and squeaky that it woke up the baby any time we moved throughout the night and the two bunkbeds did not have rails on the top bunks so out of fear that one of the kids would fall off at night we had to have her sleep on the couch. We have stayed at many places as our family travels often but this was one of the places we would never stay again or recommend for that matter. It looks like they tried the cheapest way to bandaid & cover up an outdated apartment that desperately needs some TLC. We actually called around but the nearby hotels were sold out or we would have left the property. Hopefully the property management company can get this place updated for a better guest experience in the future.
