Sunshine Studio - Private apt and yard (eco, solar)

Newly remodeled and furnished! This studio apartment is solar-powered and uses high-efficiency appliances, cotton linens, and eco-friendly products whenever possible. We do a two-step cleaning/sanitizing process to guard against the spread of illness. Entry and use is private; you never have to interact with anyone in-person if you don’t want to. We are located in the heart of the famous Rogue Valley. Stay with us while you pursue adventure:
- Rafting and/or Fishing the Rogue River
- Hiking and/or mountain biking any of the hundreds of miles of trails, including sections of the Pacific Crest Trail
- Visiting Crater Lake National Park
- Touring/Tasting in Wine Country and local Craft Breweries

Bright Sunshine

Sunshine Studio was a lovely place! We only stayed overnight, but it was very clean, organized (many extras provided) and in a quiet and safe neighborhood. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is traveling through or staying in the Medford/Jacksonville area!! Definitely a 10/10😀

Nice Stay

Enjoyed our short stay. Very comfortable setting. Enjoyed patio with the fire pit. Surprisingly quiet being next to the street. Would recommend for anyone that needs a base in Medford.

Call it a Cozy Cottage.

This place checks all the boxes. Quiet neighborhood, clean, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. I didn’t need to cook but there was enough there if you wanted to. I wish I could have use the nice fireplace outside in the secluded patio. The wood was waiting for me but I was always tired by the time I got home. I would stay here again. Especially nice for two.

Cute, spacious, very clean little studio

This was the perfect place for a short weekend stay when my spouse and I had a family function to attend. It was very clean, the bed is comfy, and the little kitchenette space was well stocked with the basics (especially in the coffee/beverage department). Overall it was a very nice place to stay, and affordable too.

Great place to stay!

This is my second stay at the Sunshine Studio. Jennifer was amazingly flexible about booking me at the last minute, which was very much appreciated. The space itself is lovely and welcoming. I didn't get a chance to use the fire pit, but the outdoor area is great as well. I will definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this comfortably, homey studio!

Great Place

We really appreciated all the attention to detail and extra amenities. We were half way through a 10 day vacation, the washer and dryer were much appreciated. I wish we had one more night so we could have used the patio with fire pit.

Super sweet, cute studio for a quick one night stay. Several extra kitchen amenities including hot pot, coffee press, pot, and hot plate. Super clean facility and comfortable bed! Great communication with the owner. We will return when we are in the area.

Quaint, very clean sunny studio

The Sunshine Studio was perfect for a one night stay (twice with in 9 days!) while we traveled to a family wedding. Very clean with a super comfy bed and well equipped basic kitchenette and bath/shower. The only thing I would change and might influence me staying there again is the lack of a bathroom door- there is a portable rattan screen available. Owner was very responsive and helpful.

Nice studio

I would stay there again. Very cute and clean. Only negative, is it would have been nice to have more opaque window drapes. Also, the blue light on the air conditions was really bright. Overall, very comfortable and very good value. FYI, thank you for the warning about the GPS confusion issue, first time I went there it took me right to it, but the second time I must have typed address in a bit differently and it took me somewhere else, but not too far away.

Wonderful spot!

My daughter and I stayed there when we went to watch a couple of plays in Ashland. It was such a cozy and clean place! The host provided everything that we needed. We felt safe and comfortable!

Gem of a getaway spot

We really enjoyed our stay here. Centrally located in a quiet, safe neighborhood—everywhere we went was no more than a 10 minute drive away, including our favorite chocolatier in Central Point (Lillie Belle Farms). Had our own parking spot so we didn’t need to deal with street parking, and a private entrance/patio area. Clean & cozy with a modern farmhouse vibe. Well stocked kitchenette. A/C a big plus during a hot spell. Would definitely stay here again.

About the host

Hosted by Jennifer Bynum

We are a small three-person family. Jennifer (your main contact) is a writer and property manager. Her partner of 16 years is Jim, a compliance consultant for investment firms. Their son, Link (11 years), attends middle school and loves playing video games. Outdoor recreation is a favored pastime that greatly influenced the design of the studio. Natural elements were the chosen theme: wood, metal, rock, and nature.
Our goal with the rental is to provide a getaway for guests, family, and friends, given that we’re halfway between Portland and Sacramento. Medford is a perfect stopping point for distance travelers, and the heart of the Rogue Valley for destination visitors.
After 12 years of living onsite as renters, we finally bought the property and renovated the studio. Improving the plot has been a slow and steady process, and we’ve made great headway.
Although the host family lives next door, you are under no obligation to interact in person with them. In fact, you can enjoy your stay without ever seeing us. Just know this spot was cultivated with care, and we hope you think of our respite next time you’re in the area!

Why they chose this property

We moved to this property after college in preparation for our first child's birth. It is our family home. For twelve years we've been renting the main house while a long-term tenant occupied the studio apartment. In 2020, we bought the lot. Since then, we have been remodeling, upgrading, and landscaping toward our goal of offering the studio as a guest house / vacation rental. Finally it is ready!

What makes this property unique

At the heart of the Rogue Valley, we are centralized to great local festivals and outdoor recreation. Mountains, rivers, coast, forest, hills, and prairies are all within a day's drive of us. We are environmentally conscious and solar powered. The studio is its own separate space, custom-made for guests.
