WINTER SPECIAL Minutes from OberMtn/Dwntown G-burg
Our cozy little cabin is located in Chalet Village in Gatlinburg near Ober Mountain. Close enough to only be a few minutes drive from downtown but tucked away on the mountain where you could possibly see bears.
The Gingerbread House is just a minutes drive to skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and ice skating at Ober Mountain. If you don't want to fight the traffic downtown you can pay to park at Ober Mountain and ride the Tram down to Gatlinburg, where you will find plenty of shopping opportunities and restaurants. Don't forget to check out Ripley's Aquarium, Anakeesta, and Gatlinburg Sky Park, just to name a few.
After a long day of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or skiing at Ober you can enjoy the hot tub, maybe read a book and relax in front of the wood burning fireplace, or play a game of pool with friends.
In the summer this cabin has access to the Chalet Village Owner's Clubs, which have swimming pools and tennis courts.

This cabin was amazing! I had a little car and had no problem going up and down the mountain, me, my wife and our friends had a great time! Perfect size for 2 couples.
The drive up the mountain was very treacherous.Basically one lane roads with no guard rails. If we had realized this, we would’ve stayed there. I would not recommend for anyone over 65 years old.
The cabin was cozy. There were a few things to improve. The back area with the picnic table and pavers need to be shored up and an addition of a secure fence would be a lot safer. Most of the electrical plugs are loose. The bathroom plug could be higher as the hair dryer plug wouldn’t fit. Also, I suggest the shower needs a safety bar. The couch was too firm. The toilet seat is loose and slides side to side. The toilet itself is not anchored to the floor properly.
On the positive side, the master bedroom bed is very comfortable. Great Wi-Fi and cable. The cabin was very clean and the bathroom had lots of clean towels. The kitchen was also clean and functional.
I hope this is helpful. The bottom line is that this cabin wasn’t worth the amount of money that we paid for this stay.
Our stay in the Gingerbread House was just what we were looking for and needed. Family time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We went to share time together in a quiet setting and that's what we had. The Bears were the icing on the cake. Most of our time was spent at the cabin sitting out on the porch, catching up on time lost between our visits, and being on the lookout for the bears. It was perfect in so many ways. We definitely recommend The Gingerbread House to anyone that is looking for a great getaway.
Overall we enjoyed our stay in the gingerbread house. However, the cabin just wasn’t very clean. There was hair in the bathtub and bathroom before we even used it along with a piece of broken glass behind the bathroom door, dust on the walls, dirt and bugs on floor in corners, leftover food under couch. Also our phone chargers would not stay in the wall plug ins in the master bedroom. We did see bears everyday we were there except one. We enjoyed both decks and the hot tub. The pool was also nice. Would recommend more sitting room for a family in the living area upstairs as well. The couch didn’t really fit a family of 4 comfortably.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Needs maintenance and repairs.
We are not the type to complain but this property needs some serious repairs. When we first walked in we could smell mold. After looking at the chimney on the second floor deck I could see why.it is deteriorating to the point water is seeping through. There are swarms of termites. We saw several centipedes inside and spiders. The picnic table outside is broken and rotten. Also the landscaping and pavers around the fire pit iare being washed down the hill.it was not properly cleaned.a lot of dust and spider webs.the mop bucket and mop was left in the kitchen. We had to go buy air fresheners to kill the for of the mold downstairs. We obviously paid way too much for a rental in this condition.it definitely needs serious repairs and maintenance.on the other hand we did see several bears. The beds are comfortable. And the kitchen is well stocked.
We loved staying at the cabin!! It is in a great location and close to all the places we wanted to go to. Great communication regarding what would be available to us and what we would need to bring as far as supplies. Definitely in an area where you will get to see bears up close 🙂.
Property is in the mountains and surrounded by trees. Only drawback is I would not being littles due to open edge with steep hill area. Everything was great otherwise.
It was a beautiful property. Had everything we needed for our stay. Was contacted by the manager while on our way to the cabin to let us know about the weather situation that was ongoing. Would recommend property.
The cabin was nice and clean and the location was good. Parking is a little tricky with no room to turn your vehicle around. A recliner or some other comfortable chair would be nice in the living room as the only seating was the sofa. Overall it was a nice surprise lace to stay.
We had a great time, saw 1 yearling cub and 1 adult black bear very early in the mornings right on the upper deck and walkway. lots of chipmunks and a ton of leaves falling. Very quiet and peaceful cabin would highly recommend to anyone looking for a very quiet get away.
Great little property. I somehow missed that the bedrooms and bathrooms were downstairs which was only an issue because of a bum knee. The road to get to the cabin is HARROWING! Not a fault with the cabin, just was unprepared for the white knuckled driving experience. All the roads to these cabins were like that, again, not an issue with the property. Figuring out the light switches was took awhile. We loved the cabin though. Enjoyed the porch swing every morning with coffee.
The cabin had knotty pine throughout, from the ceilings to the doors, to the dressers. We especially enjoyed the high decks that put you in the middle of the woods. The decks had swings and rocking chairs. By the way, we saw a bear in the woods!
This cabin is a cute little cabin in the woods. The neighbors are close but not too close. They are down the mountainside or up. Noise is minimal. We got to see bears near the cabin everyday. Would definitely rent again.
