Better than expected

This is a perfect vacation house. Well stocked with necessary items, and many things you would not expect, but made the experience fantastic. The house itself is updated and comfortable. Location is great. Close to several activities like Bahia Honda beach, Looe Key Reef, groceries, restaurants, and close enough, but not too close, to Key West. We'll be back. Thanks Steve.

great place

The house was so clean and well stocked with everything you need. A walk around porch with a screened in sitting and eating room overlooking the backyard and boating canal. TV's in every room, all the toys you want like bikes and kayaks, even a pingpong table and dart board. The Key Deer walk right on to the property and they sleep right across the street. Great place for your boat with Davits with very easy access to the Gulf or Atlantic and with a marina just down the road with boat rentals. had a great time.

Wonderful and relaxing vacation place!!!!

The house was absolutely perfect! Loved the decor. The house is well equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. The amenities amazing. You can literally just bring clothes and food. Plenty of parking for boat trailer and vehicles The location has easy access to the bay and off shore/reef for fishing. Nice big dock and fish cleaning station with plenty of hoses to clean your boat. The screened porch was my favorite place to sit with and read and watch the Key deer stroll by. We have been vacationing in the Keys for many years and by far this property rates as the best rental home that we have stayed in. We had such a great, relaxing time that we will be returning next year.

Perfect vacation spot for a family

We loved staying in this house. It was our first time spending 4 full weeks in the Keys and the house was great for us. It was clean, well taken care of. All of the kitchen appliances and utensils were in great shape (I cook a lot for our family so it was super important to me.) We enjoyed taking a couple of kayak trips out in a canal and taking bikes for a ride around Doctor's Arm. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Comfortable, well provisioned with luxurious bedding, towels, kitchen items

Beds and furniture were new and very comfortable. Ample closet and dresser space. Nice kitchenware and even all the spices you need unless you plan to enjoy all the great area restaurants like we did. There is a new large capacity washer and dryer, large refrigerator-freezer, great water pressure in the showers, a screened in porch for leisurely reading and dining. Great to have good quality beach towels for the many days we spent at Bahia Honda, the nicest beach in the Florida Keys and very close to the house, with free entry provided to tenants. Quiet residential neighborhood is very safe for the kids to use the rental bikes and enjoy the tiny Key Deer. Toss in fishing poles, foosball and ping pong and your kids won't be bored, even on a rainy day. A short walk to the No Name Pub which reputedly has about $100,000 in dollar bills stapled to all the walls and ceiling. And just down the street from the Pub is the fishing bridge which is also nice for walking or enjoying the sunset. Our son is a competitive bicycle racer and loved all the long side roads from Big Pine to Boca Chica and even rode to Key West and back in one day, about 70 miles RT. He also enjoyed taking the kayak out from the canal to open water. He has vacationed with us in the Keys the past several years and told us this rental was the best although they were all nice. The owner Steve was very responsive and Captain Ron who was available at any time was very helpful. My husband enjoyed some great conversations with him. Renting a house sight unseen can be great or disappointing. This time we got lucky. Looking forward to staying there again in 2018. Mary Ann

Paradise!

We rented for the month of March 2016 my son daughter- in law and 2 grandchildren came for 2 weeks we all loved kayaking down the canals and out to the open water, having fooseball, ping-pong, was also a big hit! We had a manatee that came right up to the dock for a visit! We enjoyed it so much we booked for March 2017 before we left! Can't Wait! Thanks Steve!

You won't be disappointed!

This was the first time we stayed in the keys. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and Captain Ron had flowers on the kitchen table when we arrived. Both the owners and Captain Ron were very helpful and accessible. The home was clean and the kitchen well stocked. If you like to cook, you will be happy with the supplies in the kitchen. They have around 18 different spices for us to use. The cruiser bikes were awesome - just like the ones we had as kids. We biked to the no name bridge and fished from it almost every evening. We caught pork fish, yellow tailed snapper, red snapper, and grunt fish. We saw sea turtles from the bridge every evening. I left a lower keys map and the menu for the No Name Pub in the welcome binder for everyone. You won't be disappointed if you rent this home. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Big Pine Key

The place was very clean, nice appliances and funiture and comfortable beds. The reason we chose this place was the amenities that came with it. 4 single kayakes, several bikes (nice ones too) and 2 stand-up paddle boards. All in great condition. Capt. Ron was very nice and helpful. We used the grill once on the balcony and used the fishing poles they had too. The only thing I didn't care for as much is the condition of the canal. I wouldn't swim in it or even want to fall in it but hey owners can't control everything. lol Super great with boaters and we did use the kayaks a few times too. The deers in the area are all over so drive slow. They come right up to you wanting to be fed. They are little scavengers and soooo cute. There is a grocery store close by that we used. We did alot of cooking in as we had 2 teenager girls with us. I would go to the rental first before going to the store as they do have spices, sugar and so forth there. We had a wonderful time, the owners were great to work with and Capt Ron was very helpful, so thank you to you all.

Top notch!

Not gonna lie, I'm a little reluctant to post a positive review of this little slice of paradise. Why? I will tell you... First and foremost, I want to tell you about the owners, Steve & Shelly and the care-taker of the house, 'Captain Ron.' This was the first time I have ever rented a house in the Key's and I was so impressed by their professionalism and most of all their accessibility. I booked 5 months in advance and over those months, I had a few questions and Steve was VERY prompt in my emails and always left me a contact number. The care-taker of the house, "Captain Ron" was the same, very accessible and always answered his phone, which I think is important. I called him a few times with questions and he was very informative, polite and understanding. Steve, if you're reading this, Captain Ron needs a raise. ;) I've grown up in the Big Pine area, I'm a boater and know the area very well. This house is in the prime location if you're a boater, like I am. VERY easy access to the Back Country (good for first timers) and a very short ride to the Atlantic for offshore fishing, reef fishing and snorkeling Looe Key and the very shallow coral heads off of Little Palm, which was a big hit with my teenage girls. One thing I haven't seen in the reviews is the boat launching. "Old Wooden Bridge" is about .4 miles away and is a decent ramp and I've stayed at that camp many, many times. They usually charge $15 to launch your boat, but it's FREE if you stay here! Overall, we had an amazing time and can't wait to come back. This house has everything. Brand new paddle boards, bikes, kayaks, games for the kids at night, ping pong, fuse ball, etc.. This house is VERY clean, the beds are VERY comfy and I only said I was reluctant to post something positive, because I don't want other people booking when I want to come down. Thank you, Steve & Shelly! PS, If you want LIVE mullet, the canal is LOADED with mullet. Bring your cast net!

Plummers

This place was fabulous. I do not have one compliant (and for me that is saying a lot). Where do I start? First the owners are simply amazing, very accommodating, and professional. I can tell you that from the time I made the reservations to the day we arrived, Steve did everything he could to ensure that we had a good time. He spent a lot of time on the phone with me recommending places to dine, activities for our children, and when I mentioned that I was going to have to ship a bike down for my 8 year old to ride, he insisted on purchasing one. The house was amazing, beautifully decorated, modern amenities, and top of the line appliances. You can tell that there was a lot of thought put into every detail. The house has everything that you have at home, and more. We had several days of bad weather, but because of all the extras (ping pong table, foosball ball, fishing equipment, and kayaks) we still had a great time despite the bad weather. We highly recommend the house, the owners and the island. Thank you for providing us with a vacation to remember. We will definitely be back..

Excellent House on a quieter key

This place was perfect for our family of 5. Everything in the house is top quality, clean, very comfortable with plenty of space. The screened in porch was a lovely place to eat our dinners in the evening. The amenities that come with the house - kayaks, bikes, a bait freezer, Bahia Honda beach pass, a Kinect (my son was thrilled!) - are such a bonus (not to mention a money saver). The house is right at the end of a canal - we had a boat docked there for a week and it took us just minutes to get to the beautiful, clear ocean! The location of the house is ideal - very peaceful and quiet, but close to a major grocery store, a fantastic beach (at Bahia Honda state park), a great little pub with excellent pizza, and the Key deer nature reserve. It's also just about 40 minutes from Key West if you are looking for more action. The owner is extremely helpful, friendly, prompt in answering questions, etc., and Captain Ron (who checked us in) was too. He gave us some fantastic recommendations for good local restaurants that did not disappoint!! I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the Keys!
