Good location. Bad Experience
This is our 2nd time renting this home in the past 4 yrs and the experience changed dramatically. We entered the home to find one bedroom with 20+ pet stains on the carpet and the other bedrooms to have multiple large stains. We also found fresh pet urine in multiple spots in the family room and stains on the master comforter. The carpets were damp and the house smelled of carpet cleaner (we found a carpet cleaner, dog cleaning solutions and dog shampoo in the house). I spent 2.5 days talking to Vacasa (prop mgr), trying to resolve the issue. I spoke with a min. of 15 agents and 6 supervisors and could not get a local person come to meet with me. I sent 6+ emails asking for responses and finally got a response with incorrect information. We refused any further carpet cleaning as my son broke out with an allergy from either the pet or the cleaning solution (it would not of made a difference in the carpet). They could not find a home to move us to and eventually offered us a 45% discount on the stay. This home would be good with new carpets and comforters and no sign of pets. The process with the property mgr was the worst I have ever experienced. Agents had no details on previous calls, delayed responses, lack of understanding of the issue and no willingness to send someone locally out to review. I own rental properties and I would be irate if my property mgr treated guests this way and offered my home in this condition. VRBO was great with assisting us. (photos available)

Perfect Carmel Rental!
Don’t hesitate to rent this property. We have stayed in several different areas in Carmel and this was top notch. Amazing location. So close to Carmel and Point Lobos. We were at the beach after a 2 minute walk daily. There were stairs leading down to the beach and a wonderful beach trail to walk alongside the beach and listen to the waves and birds. The house itself was perfect with ocean views from the living room, a cozy fireplace for chilly mornings, great fire pit outside for s’mores, comfy beds, stocked kitchen, great shower water pressure, etc etc. we loved the courtyard where we dined outdoors and cooked on the NICE grill. The courtyard was filled with beautiful landscaping and smelled amazing. We will rent again. Can’t wait to go back. Bonus: the management was fabulous and attended to any need we had!

Beautiful home, but serious sewage odors and shower drainage issues
We enjoyed much of our stay in this lovely coastal home in a very quiet and safe neighborhood. There are many positive aspects to mention, which I’ll get to shortly, but unfortunately a few very negative and concerning issues that unfortunately had an impact on our overall stay and experience. Firstly, and most important to mention is that there is an obvious sewage problem at this home and a sewage odor, particularly towards the back of the house and in the master bedroom and bath. We stayed for 7 nights, and on the 5th, 6th, & 7th night the unpleasant sewage odor became stronger and more evident. The odor was mostly towards the back of the house where the two back bedrooms are. On our last morning we awakened to the strongest and most disgusting sewage odor, which honestly didn’t leave my nostrils for a couple of days thereafter. Gross and a serious disappointment. The drains in the two bathroom showers both backed up with each showering experience, even when attempting to shower quickly. Certainly an unpleasant experience standing in your own dirty shower water, particularly after a day of strenuous outdoor activities. The shower heads are fixed, meaning that you’re unable to adjust and move the direction of the water’s flow as well as control the velocity of the water’s flow. And the flow in each shower is extremely powerful and strong. He owner really needs to deal with the sewage problem in this home immediately, and install hand held shower heads so that the water flow and direction of the water flow can be controlled by the user. Installing hand held shower heads will help tremendously with conserving water, which is currently crucial in California, and also is much more hygienic because it’s much easier to rinse more sensitive and private areas of the body quickly and efficiently. The Wifi at this home was very spotty and intermittent. Not that much of an issue for our party of three though because we were there to mostly unplug and enjoy outdoor adventures. However, it would certainly be an issue for anyone who needed to stay connected for whatever reason. The living room has two stylish and fairly comfortable couches, but would not easily or comfortably accommodate a party of six if they wanting to enjoy watching a movie or a sports event together. There are also two chairs in the living room set back behind the couches and by the fireplace. However, they are outdoor deck chairs, not built for comfort and they just don’t fit or belong in such a lovely living room space. A couple of really nice, comfortable lounge chairs with ottomans or fashionable high end recliner chairs would be a vast improvement, and the TV screen in the living room is so massive that it could easily be viewed from that area. With all of that said, this is a very beautiful home, with lovely decor, luxurious and soft linens, and high end appliances. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, teas, and there was even coffee provided for our stay. There are ziplocks, aluminum foil, & other kitchen necessities provided, as well as much more. No storage containers available for leftovers though and I was glad that I brought my own. The beds & linens were extremely comfortable. The front entrance courtyard is truly lovely and also very private. We spent much of our time enjoying the flora and fauna and all the various bird species and the hummingbirds that consistently fluttered about out there. The back of the house outdoor sitting area was okay, but because it’s narrow and butts right up against a neighboring home and you’re mostly looking at that neighboring home and it’s rooftop it’s not as enjoyable as the front of the house courtyard.

Beautiful house close to ocean
Very nice house, well stocked kitchen, great layout, and a close walk to the beach. Also close to Big Sur and other local attractions.
