We cannot say enough good things about Shane and his property. We hit a few bumps in the stay and Shane fixed them or assisted us immediately. The view is breathtaking - the home is comfortable and had everything we needed. We can’t wait to come back
Fabulous views, everything as described. Owner extremely accommodating when a little issue popped up beyond his control. Good people involved in local caretaking as well.
We loved our stay at this house! Absolutely beautiful views from every spot in the house. Porch and dock had plenty of seating and floaties to enjoy the outdoors.
Exceeded expectations!
Shane has been helpful with questions and accommodating with changes made along the way. The place is eye-popping and so unique.
Highly recommend!
This home is on a steep hill overlooking the lake. The views were amazing.
The owner was quick to take care of a few issues and all was smooth sailing.
This is definitely the most unique home i have ever seen, and right in our own backyard. Gorgeous views, an engineering masterpiece. In an area with no cell service, the starlink wifi has a massive range and strength. We were so grateful that lake toys were provided down at the dock as it is a bit of a haul down to the dock. . We had such a great time and we hope to visit again!
The location of this treehouse is absolutely breathtaking! I couldn't fathom the views before we arrived, but they would have far surpassed any expectations that we may have had. The host was very attentive and caring and answered all questions that we had before and during the stay. We had an amazing stay and will definitely return!
We had a great time staying here! The house was awesome. Very clean. The view was amazing. Shane responded to any questions we had in no time and was so helpful!!
Great house! Amazing panoramic view of the lake with floor to ceiling windows. Very comfortable and plenty of room. Kitchen is very adequately stocked with dishes, cookware and tools. The owner was very helpful with all of the house details and answers messages quickly. We had an amazing, relaxing weekend in Nantahala! I highly recommend this property!!!
The only real issues is no wifi and that there are no stairs all the way to the dock. We had a rope that was super scary and not safe and since we rented this place and a boat for the dock specifically that was a let down. You can not carry stuff down safely due to the steep terrain.
We had a great time on Lake Nantahala and at this property. We loved cooking out on the back deck and having the boat right at the dock. The house was really cool and had all the amenities we needed. Since our vacation was centered around boating, our only issue was the stairs from the house did not go all the way to the dock so the hike back up the hill from the dock multiple times a day was challenging, but we made the best of it. Location was perfect and easy access to all the fun things to see and do in the area. We will come again - thanks Shane!
This spot is so special. My friends and I felt incredibly fortunate to to stay here. We were in awe of the floor to ceiling windows of the uniquely shaped house as it let in all the dappled daylight through the trees. The private dock was wonderful and allowed us easy access to the lake with our paddle boards. We really loved the location on the lake too since it wasn’t too busy. Definitely recommend a sunrise paddle and a hike on the Bartram Trail or Appalachian Trail (right up the road). The host was very communicative and the hot tub was also an added bonus!
Overall, this place was stellar. And we’d absolutely book it again.

Last minute information
The day of check-in we received a long email letting us know that there were no paper products, out of firewood, wrong check-in time, etc. Had to buy our own firewood and ended up leaving half of it for the house/owner. Kitchen is missing some key cooking utensils. Photos of the house were obviously not taken in the summer. View of the lake is not nearly as wide open as shown.
This place was very nice. Beautiful views. Close to boat launch. Private. But there were a few things we didn’t like. The driveway, the stairs and path to the dock was completely covered in leaves. We could not drive up the hill without spinning out. And when we walked the stairs and path to the dock, we fell several times. I e actually hurt my tail bone pretty bad. These were unsafe conditions. We spent a few hours of our mini vacation having to blow the leaves off.
Then when I tried to plug my dialysis machine behind the dresser, I found a dirty women’s underwear left there. Also, the fridge had old food and milk we had to dispose of. I question the actual cleanliness of this place. Perhaps it’s not getting a thorough cleaning after each guest.
This home was very nice but some things I found odd that I’m not used to with rental properties. There was items like someone’s toothbrush, mostly used toothpaste tube, Used bar of soap etc… this is not very sanitary.
Overall we think the property could be better managed. Luckily, It’s set in a beautiful, peaceful place and we enjoyed ourselves for the most part.
I stayed here 5 nights during May with my parents. It was a nice getaway for all of us. It was my first Nantahala lake visit, but it will not be my last.
Shane was a very prompt and effective communicator. My chosen mode of communication to him was through the app and/or texting.
The house itself is super unique and hides in the trees with a 180+ degree view facing east. The massive upper deck is great for enjoying some fresh mountain air or your favorite meals on the grill with friends and family.
The road and driveway were fine for my low clearance car without awd/4wd. It is a decent 30-40 minutes from town so plan accordingly.
There was no cell service but thankfully Shane provides satellite internet/WiFi . This made it easy to check email and use iMessage/FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc to communicate with friends and family.
It was a 1200 mile drive for me and over 500 for my parents and we had zero regrets about the trip after all of the driving.
Unique property in great location. Very spacious and comfortable. The walk down to lake is a bit long and steep but well worth it for the pier and view. Such a peaceful and beautiful setting. I recommend highly.
